    This is purely an example of what disciplined line and length is. Mc grath was just a jewel of a crown at that time in Australia's team. Those were the days when nothing matters for australia neither toss, nor pitch conditions, nor target, nor opposite team, nor place, nothing .... only thing that matters for aussies at that time was that in the end they would be winners no matter whatever... There was a time when people already knew the outcome of the series before starting of that series.

      @@maheshdeshmukh351 whatever u said is absolutely perfect but though McGrath is my personal favourite but without being baised i have to say here that steyn was a better bowler than McGrath ignoring odi and just considering tests because test is a superior form of cricket and it judges how good u are. Coming to your point McGrath has more wickets as well as better average than steyn and strike rate dapartment goes to steyn but u have to also look here that McGrath played 124 test matches and then took 563 wickets whereas steyn played only 93 tests and took 439 so better way of looking here is to compare how much wickets did McGrath took in 93 test matches or if u want to go a bit deeper then how many test matches/innings took both McGrath and steyn to complete their 100,200,300 or 400 test wickets. Do u know this answer? And as far as sub continent region is concerned here also steyn edges McGrath as he has better record than McGrath in India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka though McGrath also has good record in these regions. So decide yourself now that Who is a better bowler between the two

    • @sumanthdattananaduri2133
      @sumanthdattananaduri2133 5 лет назад +15

      Just look at the ball in his hands , so small . he is tall and fit. Perfect Rhythmic action for his body structure. He doesn't need to put much energy into a delivery. With that smooth action ,when it comes out of his hands it is easily 130-135 kph. He could still generate more pace, with a little more effort.But instead he puts that effort on unwavering line and length. For example , he spots a crack on a wicket , which generates bounce and troubles batsmen. He would bowl six deliveries bang on a crack. He would take an over or two to figure out uncomfortable length to batsmen on a particular pitch.He would bowl , that length consistently with slight variations all day. Batsmen are often frustrated , tempted or confused and play a wrong shot. Also with that height , he gets a natural bounce.
      Batsmen have got better of him in one dayers sometimes , but in tests it was hard to dominate him.

    McGrath was an absolute freak. Undoubtably the best test match seam bowler ever. He wasn’t particularly fast nor did he swing the ball a heck of a lot either but his accuracy was incredible, would hit around the top of off stump over and over and over again.
    That England team went into that ashes series in searing form, the previous few summers they seemed to win easily and Andrew Flintoff usually took man of the series. In this match the look on Vaughan and Flintoff’s faces after their dismissal summed it all up tho. They knew they were now in with a serious opponent and the standard of play during the rest of that series was incredible from both sides.
    Great memories for me, it was a great summer that year. Probably one of the best summers of sport ever along with the summer of Euro 96.

    Glenn McGrath is in sensational form today that's his fifth successive wicket. It's been a devastating opening spell for the Australians, he nailed Andrew Flintoff for a duck, England were reeling at 5/21, not the start the home side was looking for having dismissed the Aussies for 190 in their first innings. At the crease now is test debutant Kevin Pietersen and he's joined by wicketkeeper Gerant Jones, and Pietersen has looked cool, from the off.

    The best Ashes ever in the history of cricket... It's a delight to watch warriors of Australia and England... McGrath, Freddie, Simon Jones, Shane Warne, Ponting, Hayden, Langer, Pietersen, Gilchrist...

    What a magnificent spell this was,perfect Mcgrath line and length with some seam movement; one can only guess the result of the series had Mcgrath not trod on the ball and consequently got injured.

      He was never that fast, he was methodical, bowling line and length. What was amazing to me was how close he got to the stumps in his delivery stride. He literally landed his foot on middle stump, leaving lots of rough for Warnie to aim for. My two favourite Aussies, by a mile.

    "Glenn McGrath is in sensational form today; that's his fifth successive wicket; it's been a devastating opening spell from the Australian. When he bowled Andrew Flintoff for a duck, England were reeling at 5 for 21, not the start the home side was looking for having dismissed the Australians for only a hundred and ninety in their first innings. At the crease now is the test debutant Kevin Pietersen, he's joined by wicketkeeper Geraint Jones and Pietersen has looked cool from the off..."
