- In this video I pack my tent and camping gear and venture out for some landscape photography. I witness and photograph a beautiful sunset, shelter from the strong wind and cook some dinner. This was a great camp out!

Thomas feel you've really gotten back to your 'roots' with the last few video's really been enjoying the content - hiking, wild camping, photography for your sake & not like you feel you have to take a picture & of course 'superb' locations - Keep up the good vlogs - Thank you.
Agree. More camping/photography and less "Hollywood style". Thumbs up!
Just wanted to say the same ... much better vibe 🙂✌
second this
Yea I was thinking the same. Fantastic content recently Tom 😊👍
"the sun" photo was very "star wars" in The Lake District.
Or, I'm a geek and overthinking this.
Quite possible.
Brilliant 👍🏾
The best kind of video, a little bit of gear, a little bit of camping, a little bit of photography 😀👍
I learned how to backpack and camp so I didn't have to hike down in the dark, and it changed my life for the better. I've seen sunsets, sunrises, and the milky way over the Appalachian Trail and the Sierra Nevadas. I have made amazing friends from the people I met hiking and doing photography. I feel these videos that you just go up and relax make for the most relaxing viewings, and thank you for letting us live vicariously through you when we aren't outside ourselves.
Thomas, your composition skills are outstanding. You're also a natural story teller. Quite informative and entertaining... love your videos
The image with the clouds across the setting sun hopefully made the entire three climbs worth it - beautiful.
Ok, the framing of that shot, the crescendo of wind, the absence of any dialogue... anyone else get chills from that bit at 0:20? Brilliant.
Was pretty common stuff. I will allow he must run around like a madman setting the video camera for the B roll.
I think this was one of my favorites Thomas. Really felt like I was there with you throughout the trip. What you do is so much more than a landscape photographer. Thankyou
Got deja vu from the thumbnail. I could swear there was a nearly identical shot in your first video I watched many years ago. Without you in it, just a green tent at blue hour… :)
Thought the same thing :) Or rather I thought it was the algo presenting an oldie but goldie
I remember that one! It was the first of Tom's videos that I watched too. Perhaps the algorithm at the time presented it to a lot of people at once, because I've heard other people say they remember it as the moment they started following the channel. Whatever the reason, I'm really glad I found Tom online - I've got so much pleasure from watching his progress.
It's also on the cover of his e-book "Landscape Photography On Location: Travel, Learn, Explore, Shoot" :)
cover photo for flickr?
Oooooo the colours in the sun shot, magic.
Mr Heaton that shot of the clouds slicing the sun ... Awesome!!!!
Man, that panorama was really lovely... what a sky!
That panorama you did is absolutely incredible
Took two days to watch all of it, thanks to my primary profession, really wonderful to watch these during a food break.
Second image was beautiful. You picked the right place and time to camp.
Lovely, lovely, lovely. I so admire your very deliberate approach to photography, Thomas. Another delightful video.

Intro to this one was incredible. Like a movie.
your videos give me inner peace in tough times. Thanks man.
I just wanna pass all the exams, pack my stuff, take camera and tent and go straight to the mountains!
Exactly! I would love to leave all the responsibilities and just go with my camera and tent to the photography adventure… I guess I have to wait to my vacation 😂
That's exactly what im waiting for! Will leave the same day after the exams for wild camping. Hoping for some astro shots .
Same for me!
@@lyaxedm1825 Enjoy.
Really awesome to see you out enjoying camping and a beautiful sunset.

The lit up sky and atmosphere in the last two images were beautiful, well worth waiting for.
Man that is a pano view, the squares didn’t do it for me but the pano show how vast and beautiful the place is the sky did help to emphasize the beauty
Agreed, I think I would have prefered maybe a portait orientation, instead of the square, with more of that beatiful sky... But the pano was magnificient !
I first heard "terror photography expeditions" sounded very exciting ;-)
Terra Expeditions is certainly more exciting than Squarespace! Also their trips are extremely well run - been on one and immediately signed on to another.
When you have subtitles on, it actually says "terror" every freakin´ time :D
I'm a "pano" guy and I liked the 9 image sunset pano. I believe it made the best image of that wide landscape.
Well done!
What a view to wake up to!

I'm always pleased when you guys mention that you're carrying an emergency beacon while in the middle of nowhere. Good example. Great pano!

Just stunning

Comfortable story telling and nice views … thanks for your video !
When I am trapped inside working I could honestly watch you hiking and taking photos all day long! You are my vicarious escape artist! Keep it up!!
How much does you quilt and 2 jackets weigh, and how much space do they take up in your pack?
Check out the Swagman Roll, does the job of all 3, even better with your sleeping bag liner. It's enough carrying camping gear, before you add the weight of the camera gear. Got mine from Heinnie Haynes.
And that filter contraption looks like an ordeal! Grayl Geopress. 10 seconds for a full bottle, purified water, not just filtered. Then you don't need that filter set up or the metal bottle.
I hope you enjoyed creating the longer video because I sure enjoyed watching it! The shot of the Sun with the clouds in front of it and the trail on the foreground mountain is outstanding. Thanks!
Good for the soul a trip like that Thomas.
Fantastic roll-up vlog. I'm going to have to rewind and watch the last 2 over again. Great content and images, nuff said. Quality.
I didn't just enjoy it. I loved it. So relaxing and peaceful.
I hope you can go back to travel around outside of the UK. But it's nice to see you in your habitat in the Lake District

So calming.
Never mind why - lots of reasons - very enjoyable as well as informative. Great stuff...!
It's funny to hear you rave about that pillow because I went on a camping trip once and forgot my pillow, so off to REI. Browsing the selection, and Hey! That's the pillow Thomas Heaton likes, so I bought it...and got hooked. Use it all over the place, and I've found it really works well to support my lower back on chairs that don't have lumbar support, preventing back soreness!
Each video a treat! Thanks! :-)
Love the image with the sun and the clouds striping across it. Lovely to have a sense of camping without living home.
Another great video! I do have a lens cap tip for you… put a small bit of Velcro on your lens caps and the opposite Velcro on each leg of your tripod… when you remove your lens cap, stick to the tripod. Never loose it or have to search for it again. Cheers!!!
When I used to this it was all about the extreme weather with with exception to safty for me that is lightning but the rest was fair game fun.
Really enjoyed the camp setup and gear run down. I'm only at 8:00 FYI, just to be clear: I'm sure there is other cool stuff to follow.
It's so strange to see all of those treeless hills and mountains. Hiking in New York State you are lucky to get a summit view. As usual I enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing.
Love the Rembrandt lighting trick with headlamp inside the tent.
Gorgeous view indeed... so nice to be able to just stay and watch the world/day unfold with no worries about getting out in the dark... beautiful sunscape... gorgeous pano... third time 'lucky'... or maybe persistence pays off
I also really like the going back to your roots with the camping and hiking.
One grand master painter in China after he presented his painting of Chinas landscape to the Emperor walked to the painting steps and despaired forever. It was so reel. If I didn't saw your video and only your epic Landscape pano I would imagine you vanished into the picture as well. The colors of the epic sky and sheer size of place make us internally full of joy. I think you found your Shangri-La
Great pano.
Beautiful images Thomas. I also respect your honesty very much about the conditions faced with in the morning and not always taking a photo just for the sake of it.
Much respect and love your work.
I patiently wait for these videos on Wednesdays. Thanks for the amazing content week after week!

I might be a scary person, my anxiety doesn't help either. But props to you just camping out there in the wilderness. I hear stories about people getting attacked and killed by bears. The wildest thing I did was driving to the west here in the US and taking a small hike but I was definitely worried about wild bears.
GOD! I love your videos! SOOOOO inspirational!
Thank you for a very inspiring video in a time where I need inspiration 😃👍
Brilliant 👏 There’s no doubt that the whole experience of being out in nature adds to, or often exceeds, the photography experience. The secret is probably finding the right balance between the two, which I’m still working on. Great video Thomas 👏👍
Wonderful to watch, Thomas! I loved the picture of that beautiful sun going down along with the 9 shot pano...That was a beautiful job of capturing that impressive area!
Last few videos are really enjoyable. Slower pace and focus on been outside work really good.
A giant leap forward with a new, relaxed and chatty Thomas. Better than ever.

I love these ‘expedition’ (mini!) videos. A really relaxing way to start the day. Thank you.
Thanks, for taking us on your journey Thomas!
Awesome video Tom! Loved the "leave no trace"-reference :) Most important thing when doing some wild camping!
that haystacks sun photo love it
From one pillow guy to another, thank thank thank you! I will look for that one. Not a big camper myself to be honest, but my wife is trying to get me out and my end of the deal is that I can spend some time taking photos instead of always hiking. If only our ground out here in the western U.S. was that soft to just easily push in the stakes with your foot. Maybe a 3lb. mallet!
Hey Thomas, I don't comment on videos often but I wanted to reach out and let you know i've been watching your channel for years since 2016. Thank you for all of the adventures and photographs, you've added a tonne of value to my life and others i'm sure. I understand these videos are not easy to make so thank you for everything. Be well, Ezra
That's some epic shot with the sun and cloud with the mountain thank you for sharing love watching your video.
No shameless commerce here! Hey, I did not see a link to the toothbrush and toothpaste! All smugness aside, what a spectacular campsite and view!
Really good. I really had a great time watching all this.
Loved the pano, Thomas, and you made me jealous with the backpacking. Haven't has a successful backpacking adventure in a while.
I assume you hunkered down beneath the summit of Brandreth, which sits on the axis of Haystacks and Green Gable. And offers spectacular views down the valleys of the surrounding areas. Often overlooked as most walkers just pass through going somewhere more Wainwrighty.

a tip: try shot at first lights of dawn, the sky changing colours is fantastic
I’ve been on lockdown in Singapore for almost a year. While Singapore is incredible in many ways, it’s also very small and doesn’t have a single mountain. I’m living vicariously through your videos until I can do some hiking/photography of my own. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
It's good to just relax and take in a beautiful sky from time to time. Really enjoyed your sunset images!!

That sunset shot of the sun just above the hills was incredible! I love all the leading lines, right to the sun. The trail points to the scree slope that perfectly lines up with the sun. Awesome work!
Well done, Thomas. I knew you would be back into your photography roots when the new wore off the van experience. Don't get me wrong, the van is essential, but now you know it is just a more efficient means to an end and now you're back at it.

I would say the trip was successful just on that one photo of the sun about to go below the horizon. Very nice shot!!! It would be interesting to see that location with a couple feet of snow....
Love the sun in that second photo. The pond and the walking paths lead you through the composition right up to that gorgeous sunset. NIcely done.

Thanks Thomas for another nice video. You are always a big inspiration for me .
It's pleasure watching you talk about your passion👍🔥❤️
Belter images Thomas really enjoyed the video thanks
Great video as usual, those images are beautiful.
Another cracking video love the whole experience. The pano imho is a belter 📷❤️👌

Loved this video of you camping at this spectacular location, seeing the photos, drone shots, camping and camera gear. Very well done!!!!
Amazing nature, travel. Magic photos! Especially the moon in the shot! You are cool Thomas 👍🙌🏻📷
Been missing your camping video lately. And my prayer has been answered.
Love the soft colors in the surprise shots you made after you thought the sun was gone. It would be interesting to learn how you edited those.
That sun, wow and that word really doesn't cover it.
What a great video. I love this combination of hiking and photography. Thanks for the useful camping gear info as well. I am definitely a pillow person. Your photographs were beautiful and probably far better than you felt at the time. My favourite is definitely the one of the sun setting behind the mountain.
