I've had an LDV G10 people mover for over three years, clocked 69,000+ in that time without any issues - not even worn brake pads, despite going up and down Adelaide's lengthy and steeply descending Southern Expressway daily!
Hey Shannon, thanks for your videos on the D90, mate. I'm going to be ordering one in the next 6 months or so, so it's great to hear people's real-world experiences, both positive and negative. Even with the little niggles, it's hard to go past the price of the D90, especially when you look at the stupid prices that Land Cruisers are going for second-hand in Australia.
Thanks Carl, it's the same over here, 2010 landcruiser with 300000km is about the same price as a new D90. No factory warranty etc. As you would have heard me mention, get some reviews on aftersales, after knowing the trouble same buyers have has in Aus its more about poor customer service rather than the D90 being a concern with things aren't as they should be.
Thanks all for watching, if you haven't yet hit that subscribe button that would be much appreciated. Also if you have a dealership that's provided great aftersales service give them a shout out either below or on social media.
I bought a new D90 from Christchurch dealership end Dec 2021, they are friendly as and happy with the vehicle, still enjoying it. Only a minor issue i.e. the Auto start-stop is not working so far, will get it rectify during my 1st service.
Ha! Great review. Being a surfing family, 2 kids and a dog l, I feel much more comfortable when I slide into gates/fences/ruts off road as opposed to doing it in a Prado or Land-cruiser. This car kills it off road. I’m nit going to pay $50-$70 grand for a reliability reputation. Not in 2024. You may not like it but Chinese are doing some good stuff. But her, my grandfather served in the war an ended up buying a Toyota! 😂
Great review mate, and glad to hear that you didn't have any mechanical issues. Sounds like LDV/MG all have "little kinks" with electricals, sounds like you've sorted yours, and a year in - fingers crossed for you to keep enjoying the purchase vs. the bigger brands and names such as Sorento, etc. 👍
Just bought a D90 executive 4wd diesel last week. Enjoying it so far but definitely experiencing some of the quirks here and there. Overall though really pleased with it and look forward to many years of motoring and towing capability. Thanks for the video, very informative, cheers.
I was going through some video reviews, and I had come across that it makes raving sounds while going down the hill. Secondly, I saw that whill auto stop-start button is on, it has a 2min delay to start the engine which could be frustrating while seating on a busy area.
Not sure about these issues, the D90 has no engine breaking so if you change down it only revs without the result of slowing the vehicle, you must use the breaks. Start stop doesn't work if the aircon is on therefore it never works but when it does there is no delay. Squeaking breaks would be something you would get checked, I've not had sqeaky breaks
The start/stop feature is completely pointless in any vehicle. The fact it doesn't work often i consider a benefit. The fuel savings are negligible and you need a bigger battery with cars that have it
Thanks for the video, considering this as my next car, similar to you, 4 growing kids + dog, the 7 seater x-trail 3rd row I have currently is not going to work for much longer.
Hi Chris, same here, our Kia Sorento was okay but towing was our reason to upgrade and the Kia was a brilliant vehicle however we do not miss it, the D90 is really spacious and comfortable.
Hi mate, I like your video like always, especially you talking about the ups and downs. Awesome, keep it up. Another thing is we end up with having a ssangyang instead of d90. We visited two dealers in Auckland, they both recommended ssangyang for our small family 👪. Anyway, I will be always here for your next video. Cheers, man.
Great Vid as usual, Good to hear you have had no drama's they are starting to build a good reputation.... By the way Loved Robin Hood Bay thanks for the tip.
Yes very happy with the vehicle. Glad you liked Robin Hood bay, we have that on our list but haven't been there, looking forward to your video on this trip
Awesome review, just watched your first one a moment ago, will go back and like. I've been watching a lot of reviews on the D90 and yours was the first I could find that talked about towing a van, which is what we will be doing a lot of in Australia. You mentioned Monsoon Shields in your video. What are they? Did you end up getting under body protection? Any other updates in the last 2 years?
Hi Ian Monsoon sheilds are over each window so rain doesn't enter when down a small amount. We got the underbody protection from Australia, custom off-road. We have had an issue with a sensor and our DPF, only when towing, very frustrating as the service department cannot seem to fix the issue. That is ongoing but other than that a brilliant vehicle
Hi just wondering what size van do you pull? I am a tad concerned about the size of the motor Do you have any issues pulling the van? Also what is it like off road?
About 1.8T, we load the D90 with family of 6, two dogs, 4 bikes on the roof racks and it handles the weight easy, the 8 speed gearbox and the power work very well. It's a got a good 4x4 system, low range and rear diff lock. Does well off road but it has a long wheel base and the running boards can get caught on objects
Thank the the video! When money frees up we will be looking at one of these for our family. Also if you were looking at a budget 5 seater with similar capabilities what would your suggestion be
When it comes to a 5 seater there are so many options both new and on the used car market. We purchased a new vehicle because nothing compared for 3rd row passenger space. I do like Kia and Hyundai if your not towing a heavy trailer, a used Sorento or Santa Fe for 5 seats for me.
Mate you are better to save your money to buy something a lot better quality that everything works as it should when you buy a brand new vehicle Chinese vehicles are rubbish they are only good at cooking Chinese food 👎🤮
I'd get a lift kit for it. The car looks great but maybe a little low for any serious off-roading. That said it really depends on what sort of driving you mostly do. A lift kit changes the handling and if you don't go on the rough stuff enough it might not be that worth it.
Must be due an update video on how many kms your d90 has done, maybe an update on how the fuel economy and power is going.... and maybe if you have had any problems 👍👌 if you have time that would be awesome
I had an initial few issues, very minor and not mechanical, just some calibration issues and a faulty sensor. Now these have been resolved I have had trouble free motoring. We today have just towed our caravan 250km in comfort, the D90 went very well
It improved it but didn't eliminate it. The only time it's an issue is a rolling start like when you're at a giveaway or roundabout. Take off is okay and accelerating to overtake etc is fine.
Hi, the D90 is going well, I have started preparing for a 2nd year of ownership review, just put out a video of a plug in performance upgrade also. Maybe another 4 weeks until I have something put together. Thanks for your interest.
Hi Shannon. Picking up our Diesel Executive next week. Talk to me about the cruise control. Is it really as bad as Ive heard? Have you had much luck with it?
Hi there. My cruise works great. It slows down around corners, a little too much I would say but following the car in front on a long trip it's perfect, even when towing
great review. i had my one for 10 months, close to 10000 km,nothing wrong with it so far, though never had off road experience and i do not much about car. i never ask after sale service, olny went back service center for autocar conection. what i want to know is your petrol using. I just manage to reach 13.1 on average. cheers.
Thanks for watching, I have the diesel model. Usually get 11L/100km in shorter trips across town from a cold start, around town driving can improve if it's a longer trip. Towing I get 15L/100 open road and when not towing I can get around 8.8L/100.

It is a tall vehicle so there is going to be some body roll but no more than you would expect. The suspension is great especially on the open road, I recently had a Ssangyong Rexton to drive and was pleased to get back in the D90 for ride comfort for city driving

Hi, I do much of my kms towing our caravan. The last 5000km averaged 12.3L/100km and 3000km of this would have been towing, the rest mixed driving. I believe I would get around 9-9.5L/100 with mixed driving, 8.5L/100km open road and 10-12L/100km city depending on congestion. I've put an EliteDrive power module in and seeing good results, even as low as 7L/100km mixed driving

Depreciation will be the biggest cost I think owning this car. You can get the current executive update in Australia for $30k with 10k kms. Once they are out of warranty, half that again. I think selling one of these second hand won't be fun. Nor will be chasing parts for one, being so few on the road. Their size is very appealing though, matched to that engine power and transmission.
