@therightcar I got the D90 on Monday this week, I must say it's a lot of car for the price. Best thing is it's a company car too. I had a Jeep grand cherokee and it was a great car but the D90 Executive diesel is a step up in every way.. did you ever manage to try "sports 4 wheel driving" (that was so funny the way you said that, in a great way). If I ever try it, I'll let you know. You think it's a good car?
Nice balanced review. We don't get it here in SA but I'm sure you brought it to the attention of potential buyers. Hopefully your review will encourage people to at least test drive it before deciding which 7 seated to buy.
I have owned the diesel for 2 years, no problems plenty of power, best tow vehicle i have owned and regularly get 7.7 l/100 on long runs and 8.2 l/100 in outer suburbs. Cannot fault for the money.
Great review once again. Thinking of trading our 5 year old problematic (electrical issues) Santa Fe Highlander. I would certainly consider the diesel executive version.
Do be aware these are prone to the AEB phantom braking, various infotainment bugs/phones disconecting, etc. I would suggest you check out a Rexton first!
I've put a deposit on one of these (the executive diesel model) and was impressed with the test drive. What I really liked overall about the D90 is that it felt solid which the Rexton I auditioned didn't. SAIC, who make the D90 have been around since 1955. The engine is made by a reputable Italian company, the transmission is borrowed from VW I believe and the electronics come from a variety of sources. With the 10 year warranty and roadside assist which I paid a little bit extra for I feel that I'm well covered. I looked at the Prado equivalent (according to features) and it's over double the price.
I have owned my D90 for over 2.5yrs now and done a couple of owner reviews myself. All initial issues I had were long ago now, I think us first customers were the testers 😅 Also I would have said the T60 was based on the D90, not the other way around 🤔 I have the EliteDrive Power Module and Throttle controller which made a positive difference!
