Hey Rob! I have a similar setup and I have been playing with the receiver settings of the atmos speakers. I have similar height mounted speakers like you do, but I set them as "In ceiling" speakers in the receiver itself. I thought it actually made them sound better, even though they aren't mounted as so. See if you have a similar experience? Thanks!
justun chan hi Justun- I actually went back and forth a few times over the last year but with my room it just didn’t sound right. I wanted to use as a height so it wouldnt take away from my fronts but the sound wasn’t as enveloping for whatever reason.
I turn my itty bitty subwoofer down. Got the Dayton 8" sub kit, built myself under$300. It kicks @$$. Don't think you need those 2 Grand svs to anyone looking at it.
having 2 subs is better as they share the workload.. also 2 subs fills in any dead spots where you don't feel the bass. Front firing subs are better at the front of the soundstage.. If you go 3 or 4 subs then it's better that the subs behind the listening position are downfiring subs and they can be 8inch drivers..
When one hears sound come from above, the sound is usually off in the distance first! 🤔 therefore by my calculations height speakers are always better than ceiling speakers.

Yes I’ve tried the sub inside of the left front speaker and TV, I’ve tried it on the side wall in the center of the room and a few spot behind me. The one behind me was absolute insanity with how hard it hit. Not shitting you, one day my wife came home and comes down and says why did you move the washer and dryer so far over? The sub was buckling the floor ! Where it is now sound pretty great, it’s not insanity but still hits hard and blends well. What’s aggravating is having my duct work in the middle of the room that is dry walled in and the drop ceiling is about a foot higher on each side. The bass does get trapped in there a lot because if I move toward the TV it’s again hitting super hard.
asiboy29 thank you, I appreciate it ! As for the best atmos experience there are a bunch but I thought John Wick 2, IT even though it wasn’t a good movie to me the sound was great and mad max fury road had really good atmos sound.
What did you do after calibration to get the sound up? I have the denon 4500 and I have to turn the master volume way up. Source level or channel level ?
Jerome Williams honestly it depends on the situation. If your AV has enough power than more times than not you’ll only have to go into channel level and trim the speakers to 75db. If you’re having to increase the trim above 0 in the trim then I would turn up your source level. Try not to go over the 0 on trim so your speakers have the headroom for volume fluctuations.
Pursuit of home theater bliss ok there’s a Channel level and a test tone level . After calibration all of my speakers are in the negatives. I’m kind of confused as to which your saying not to go past zero. Thanks for the advice and time!!!
Jerome Williams that is good. Your calibration will try and set all your speakers to 75db. If you don’t have a sound level meter than pick one up on amazing for like $20. After calibration you want to then test every speaker to ensure they all read 75db. I’m sure they’ll all be close but no AV is perfect. Some will be louder than 75 and some will be quieter but when you dial them all in it will blend perfectly. If the AV is showing negative on all of them then don’t increase the source level.
Thanks for the video. Nice set up! How did you manage to get the moving city screensaver?? I’ve got LGC9 and I’m stuck with the black screen/firework screensaver. Thanks.
Roman Lewandowski I can’t imagine what the PB 16 sounds like because this one at least in my room is insanity. I’ve had to move it to a less than ideal location in my room just to tone it down to match my fronts. Amazing sub !

@@rwrjw thx for answering i hear you just got into this a few months back and wow its addicting and expensive, lol. I was just curious if you felt that the SVS were better than the RP line. I am currently running the refrence line, but plan to update later, either to the RP line or the B@W 600 series.
I used to own B&w cm7s which were fantastic and completely different sounding from the klipsch. You aren’t joking with addicting and expensive ! You will see a very big difference in my opinion going from the reference line to the reference premiere. A lot of that harshness and bright sound with the reference line is gone with the RP line. You also get a titanium Tweeter on the RP vs aluminum tweeter on your reference line. The SVS sound is a much more neutral which some don’t like coming from klipsch. Klipsch are known for being on the brighter side but have good dynamics’s. They’re much more efficient than most speakers so you don’t need a lot of power to drive them which is a plus.
Imhigh Onlife funny enough I was just having conversations with my neighbor who is an electrician. He is going to install a 20 amp for me in the spring. I haven’t had any issues being on the 15 and sharing all the outlets in the basement. Thanks for the comment !
@@rwrjw I found a low tech method of getting the right angle and height is to sit down in your fave viewing posistion.. Then grab a flashlight (torch). Then switch it on and hold the handle to the side of your head.. aiming it towards the direction of the height speakers.holding your head forward as if watching something on the TV. Then angle the speaker where it reflects in the centre of the light..That way you'll have the speakers perfectly aligned.
Nice system. At least moving your sub is easier than mine lol. Thinking of getting a second one to even out the bass? It's pretty hard with just one to fix room nulls. (I've somewhat managed, but just barely) Mines a FullMartySub (my channel has a few videos of it)
@@rwrjw Awesome! I've never heard SVS's subs in person, but I know they are great subs from all the great reviews they get. It's crazy how big of a Voice coil the 16" has
It’s incredible ! The sound pressure it generates is insane. A quick story on how much pressure these generate and to think I have the SB and not it’s big brother PB16. I had it setup behind the couch originally and our washer and dryer were directly above. I was playing a ton of music and watching movies while my wife was out and when she got him she asked why I had moved both the washer and dryer over. Obviously I didn’t so I went up to look and the pressure was bucking the ceiling / floor above so much that both machines had moved about a foot over and started turning sideways !
@@rwrjw Haha that's hilarious. My Ultimax violently shakes the ceiling of my house as frequencies below 20hz, so I'm not surprised that thing moved your washer and dryer. I have some "Diversitech MP4-E E.V.A" (google search should bring you to amazon) and I wonder if they'd help with the washer and dryer moving on you. I use them for my center speaker now as my original use for them has changed. I also had part of the ceiling fall in the garage 30+ feet from this room. I wasn't playing anything at the time, however, I wouldn't be surprised if the subsonic bass shook it loose over time.
Looks like a nice place to watch a movie :D Do you feel like the Emotiva was worth it for watching movies? I am currently using Marantz SR6011, and looking into something like it.
Mrenjoy92 In my opinion it’s a very big step up. You will give yourself much more headroom and you’ll have better dynamics. I only got the 3 channel amp because I just don’t need an external for my surrounds in my size room. Thanks for the comment !
dominic cadett solid luck to be honest, I was looking at that for a year but refused to pay almost $2k for it. I had gotten a gift card for Best Buy and decided to go get a cheaper stand when I saw that on the floor and asked them if they wound sell it. They agreed and sold it for a total with tax of $120.
Curious Pete I thought about going to projection but what I want in a pic like HDR and 4K with a great pic would cost outrageous money. Once the prices start to fall then I could almost guarantee I’ll be in that market. In the mean time in my opinion OLED is the best picture you can get currently. Thanks for the comment !

bee nasty 100% agree, it’s always something and always tweaking, in a way it’s frustrating but on the other hand it’s fun. I definitely agree that I need another sub to equal out the bass but in due time. I used to have dual klipsch 12s but stepped up to the SVS and couldn’t be happier. It will only get better once I can run dual. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comments !
Have you tried the subwoofer somewhere towards the centre of the room yet?
Nice setup! My dream setup! By the way, what's your top 3 best movies with Dolby Atmos sounds?
asiboy29 thank you, I appreciate it !
Thanks.
Rob that svs16 must rock
Roman Lewandowski I can’t imagine what the PB 16 sounds like because this one at least in my room is insanity. I’ve had to move it to a less than ideal location in my room just to tone it down to match my fronts. Amazing sub !
Great set up, just curious , you said you might be updating to SVS speakers, why? And which ones are you thinking about?
Daryl Austin hi , I was looking at changing over to the ultras. I’m never happy and always looking at tweaks to make my system sound better. I love the design of them and the size. With that said I really like the klipsch RP series they’re a really good speaker for home theater I’m just looking for a change. Thanks for the comment!
They’re much more efficient than most speakers so you don’t need a lot of power to drive them which is a plus.
go projector for a larger size, feels more like a theater in the end. I prefer it
Nice setup. My system is very similar (sr 6012, xpa-3, etc)
Just curious, are you running a 20 amp dedicated circuit?
Thanks for the video!
Imhigh Onlife funny enough I was just having conversations with my neighbor who is an electrician. He is going to install a 20 amp for me in the spring. I haven’t had any issues being on the 15 and sharing all the outlets in the basement. Thanks for the comment !
Where did you get the media console?
I lucked out getting one at Best Buy. I don’t think they sell them there any longer.
Looking to move up to SVS in the future, why? They might have better subwoofers, but speakers, no.
what size room you got? I switched to a Klipsch R-100SW and love it I wanna get another..
Sounds awesome 👏
Great setup! What are the dimensions of the room?
16x20
Great theater setup!
mbranham9270 thank you !
The sounds amazing but... what do you mean?
Did you toe in your front height speakers?
Yes but not a ton. I played with all kinds of angles and found this slight toe in was perfect for my room.
@@rwrjw How did you toe them in? I thought they sit flush with the wall.
Do you have a dedicated room as a projector needs a dark room, the OLED is a great tv
Roman Lewandowski Yes fortunately I do ! I have this room built in a basement.
We need more videos.... they R.O.C
49ers more to come soon. I’ve been getting a new camera setup and ready to start cranking some out.
Beautiful clean n neat 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Nice system. At least moving your sub is easier than mine lol. Thinking of getting a second one to even out the bass? It's pretty hard with just one to fix room nulls. (I've somewhat managed, but just barely)
Mines a FullMartySub (my channel has a few videos of it)
Josh M I am definitely getting a second sub in the future. I previously had 2 klipsch subs.
Looks like a nice place to watch a movie :D
Do you feel like the Emotiva was worth it for watching movies?
I am currently using Marantz SR6011, and looking into something like it.
Mrenjoy92 In my opinion it’s a very big step up. You will give yourself much more headroom and you’ll have better dynamics. I only got the 3 channel amp because I just don’t need an external for my surrounds in my size room. Thanks for the comment !
More demo's please 💯
GREAT SET UP WHAT IS THE SIZE OF YOUR ROOM
john reicher thanks John, my room is 15’ W x 16’ L x 7.5 H
THANKS
Where did you get your entertainment stand from? Been looking for one just like that..
dominic cadett solid luck to be honest, I was looking at that for a year but refused to pay almost $2k for it. I had gotten a gift card for Best Buy and decided to go get a cheaper stand when I saw that on the floor and asked them if they wound sell it. They agreed and sold it for a total with tax of $120.
If you would like to know the name of the stand it’s BDI ola 8137
Aww Inspiring Set-up!!!
AnticRecovery I really appreciate that, thank you !
Very nice my man,if you can you play transformers extinction the beginning scene please.
Why not go for a projector if you want bigger?
Curious Pete I thought about going to projection but what I want in a pic like HDR and 4K with a great pic would cost outrageous money. Once the prices start to fall then I could almost guarantee I’ll be in that market. In the mean time in my opinion OLED is the best picture you can get currently. Thanks for the comment !
equipos poderosos , pero (según se oye), mal configurados... esto mismo en un sr6015 es otra cosa... saludos.
Sure it sounds nice but damn... how do you watch TV with all those cumbersome speakers staring at you? 😅 The focal point is 90% bulky speakers and 10% TV 🤪
Lights go off or dim and I don’t see any of them. Lights are only on for the video and the black screens are always on.
that's why having black speakers helps.. when the lights are out you don't really notice the speakers.. Unless your walls are a very light colour?
Tybok C well to each his own for sure : ) Just preference and no right or wrong 👍 I just like only a TV and nothing else at all on my TV wall 😀
@@webflys depends if you want an immersive expereince from ATMOS or not?

Yeah you need to at least get the RP line, que all the others that have only the R and think they have good sounds.
