- Elon Musk recently took to X to announce that the company's long-awaited Robotaxi project will be unveiled on August 8. ARK Invest Analyst Tasha Keeney joins Yahoo Finance Live to discuss the significance of this announcement.
Keeney acknowledges that there has been "a lot of progress" in Tesla's self-driving software in recent years. While she admits the autonomous driving technology is "not perfect," she notes that consumers have shown it works. Keeney expresses confidence that in five years Robotaxi technology will drive significant gains for Tesla.
However, Keeney emphasizes that the release of the Robotaxi will depend on when the software will be ready. She explains that Tesla's current vehicles can become fully autonomous once the necessary software updates are made. Despite potential delays in unveiling the Robotaxi prototype, Keeney believes the announcement demonstrates the company's confidence in the progress of its Robotaxi network.
Furthermore, Keeney highlights Tesla's "unparalleled data advantage" over its competitors in the autonomous driving space. She believes the company has more than enough data mileage to "train their models," underscoring that "data is key" in this rapidly evolving industry.

So confused. Can Tesla drive without a driver (like Waymo) now? No?
SHE SAID 'SOON'
YES, Robotaxi can.
its Different software from FSD v12.3.
Google manually maps the streets and they use lidar to maintain it's positioning, so it's essentially on rails. Tesla is trying to teach a computer how to drive which is orders of magnitude harder. Waymo is definitely not easy but Teslas strategy is significantly more scalable. Time will tell which one wins out.
99.99 %
No, not even close.
I've owned my Tesla since 2019. Tired of these broken "promises". Its all lies at this point.
How long can you go not delivering on promises before it's considered fraud?
For a company that lets you put up a 50k preorder deposit on a unicorn product like the tesla roadster, i don't think their customer base care whether they get ripped off from their hard earned money.
In the case of Tesla about 20 years. Cumulative lifetime revenue $354 Billion ($300 Billion from car sales) and somehow the company Market Cap is $550 Billion.
FYI: we will not be living on Mars either. elon is on drugs and or crazy.
ARKK invest….. analysis without basis….. not bothered listening. Total write off
Hell, they should interview me, I make more money than ARKK (not hard, since they don't).
Yep, anyone who listens to an AARK analyst is about to lose money.
@@swissarmyknight4306 their speculations on when fsd will be ready is looking to be spot on though.
Ummm...I listened to them in May 2019 and bought a LOT of $TSLA., which has worked out "rather well" for me!
@@musicman53 If you had invested a year later it would be a different story, Cathie has been loading up on this constantly since then, and every time she does she says she's buying the dip. In 2020 she said the Tesla share price would be $15,000 in 2024. You just got lucky.
Tesla can't even get their cars to work autonomously in the Las Vegas loop ...
They will probably "unvail" some work-in-progress prototype like the guy in spandex for their robot :D
Fsd is missing sound sensors to hear honking cars and sirens from emergency vehicles.
driving while deaf is legal in all 50 states 🤔
Does ARK get paid for promoting Tesla?
I think that could be complicated but from our perspective, it’s all really strange and does not pass the smell test
Don't forget that Tasha works for an organization that in 2020 predicted Tesla's share price would be worth $15,000 in 2024, and that organization has been labeled one of the biggest wealth destroyers of all time...
I think there was a stock split since that prediction so not as wildly inaccurate as it sounds
@@chriso5842 Still pretty inaccurate no matter what way you spin it.
@@LordandGodofRUclipsI don’t think I’m spinning anything but yeah, still way off. Agreed.

Full self driving is Elon's #1 grift.
Another Musk smoke and mirrors announcement that won't happen anytime soon, just more meat for the cult.
Ahhh....you poor thing, sorry you missed out but letting emotions control your life will continue to leave you perpetually penniless.
@@Mrbfgray Musk cultist.
You should short it then. Easy money
@@NassimSYD you don't short meme stocks.
The timing of these announcements always come at a time when there's trouble in their stock market.
How about Baidu? Thought they were already offering robotaxi services 24/7
This is not going to go well
It's going to 10X TSLA, only a question of when.
He said he will reveal it on 8/8. He did not say when it would be released !!!!
Ensuring a robust charging infrastructure for Tesla's potential robotic taxi fleet is a critical consideration, particularly if the vehicle fleet is expected to scale to 500,000 units. While Tesla already has a network of Supercharger stations for its existing vehicles, the demands of a large-scale robotic taxi fleet may require a more specialized approach to charging. This could involve the establishment of dedicated charging stations tailored to the unique needs of autonomous vehicles, allowing for seamless and efficient recharging. In addition, Tesla may need to explore innovative solutions such as automated charging capabilities within the vehicles themselves, such as robotic arms or wireless charging technology. Planning and implementing an effective charging infrastructure will be essential to supporting the widespread deployment and operation of a large-scale robotic taxi fleet.
Battery warranty is currently 150000 miles. A robotaxi may cover this miles in 6 months. How the warranty part work after. I think a battery swap/subscription model may be required for long term survival.
A warranty is not an expectation it's protection against the unexpected
The Robotaxi is the model 2 it’s just not being sold to the consumer. all the model 2 are going into the Robotaxi network
Robotaxi in his vagas hole🤣🤣🤣🤣
so maybe in 10yrs
Closer to 10 months, pay attention to what matters if you care.
Tesla is pretty close now. It is now a matter of when , not if.
Will the robo taxis work on elons mars infrastructure
Cool!
I want robotaxi's in germany!
Please make robo taxi's!
greetings from germany
All the Tesla fanboys forget that if they can rely on their own Tesla to totally self drive, they believe robotaxi is ready ? Please..think with your brain for once
Fsd is Tesla moat, just like e-commerce for amazon, search engine for Google, social networking for Facebook..
It's just appropriate that Tesla claims the title before others 'steal' it.
How? The FSD cannot even avoid portholes and caused my Model 3 to have a suspension upper arm failure. What if the car go over portholes in FSD mode and loses control and cause a major incident and kill someone. Who is at fault? And, there is no rear cross-traffic alert, the Tesla cannot back up by themselves if they get stuck in some situations. OMG. I hope Mr. Musk thinks twice.
FSD now, NOW, is much safer then today's drivers...So even if accidents happen autonomous vehicles are much safer already.
Meanwhile in China Tesla sales dropped 85% YoY last week. In Q1 the decline was 19%. Last week Tesla grabbed 0.7% market share with 1 907 new registrations.
Local brands sold like hotcakes.
“1 million robotaxis by end of the year” -Elon Musk 2020. Fool me once. And didn't he also promise we would all be vacationing on Mars by now? I think Elon got that idea while smoking weed listening to The Grateful Dead's Mars Hotel
I think he is gambling about Robotaxi. I do not think we are there yet.
Nearly full drives. oh, it works right up the point it hit the car in front of it??? That like the plane nearly completed the flight but the landing was less than perfect. Maybe Boeing can get away with that we nearly completed the plane.
Who is this for? Since ride share killed off Taxi companies, ride share drivers are supposed to go buy a new car just to have it drive itself around for who knows how to do God knows what in it. And considering their current crop of FSD is SOL and what is the price of this tech wonder. Makes no sense at all.
ark has smart people who pretend not to know any better
People actually PAY this woman to give her opinions?
And, optimus will be driving it😂😂😂
Robotaxis aside, as a Tesla owner, I can see a lot of people purchasing this after the free month. People like me who have Tesla insurance would benefit greatly by using FSD instead of driving.
Not a strong case when it's priced at $199/month.
@@amols101 people are saving 100 bucks in insurance this way, effectively making the fsd cost 100 bucks. So yeah sales will go boom
Just seen a guy on Twitter say he saves $100 in insurance because it is cheaper with fsd (supervised) so really $99 and the convenience it will provide far outweighs if they ever get to to full autonomous on August 8.
Chatgpt and all the rest of ai is not 100%. It can be 80% today. The new tesla v12 fsd (supervised) is that good. The hype is here because we'll wake up and see the difference for yourself. Millions already know because Tesla just gave a free month free. Grab a friend with fsd12 and see for yourself.

short Tesla
Waymo is level 4 autonomy. Tesla FSD is (now) level 3. The trillion dollar question is, will Tesla leapfrog directly to level 5?
THE ANSWER IS 'YES'
NOPE , Tesla FSD V12.3 is already LEVEL 4 supervised.
Robotaxis from China are way better!Elon is always to late and the prosuct is dissapointing like the Cybertruck!
Waymo level 4 is only in certain circumstances. We're talking general for self-driving for Tesla

This is a ridiculous concept, no one asked for a robotaxi. Who’s going to go 85 MPH on the turnpike with no steering wheel or driver. Literal nightmare
Are you living in a cave?
Not in 2024 but in 2050 it will be a reality.
Robotaxi is definitely happening. Watch, On 8/8 optimus the robot is going to drive not just tesla but any car on the road.
What are you smoking? There are daily stories of FSD failing and that's with an active driver legally bound to step in, how on earth can Tesla suddenly produce an autopilot that has ironed out all the flaws that the likes of Waymo/Google and Mercedes could not.. especially as they using cameras, lidar and radar and struggling while Tesla only has single lens cameras.
This is just a ploy by Musk to prop up the share price for another 4 months while he dumps stock.
I believe this group is talking about Musk is negative to Musk. I do not believe that he is positive to him the way they are phrasing all of their stuff. I wouldn’t listen to
The problem with self driving cars in America is that too much restrictions are put on it as soon as someone complains, which hinders its progress. There are bound to be teething problems, but because politicians are beholden to the voters, they have to limit AI driving when regular drivers complain, such as the case with Cruise in california. This is the difference between US and China, where people's complaints have no baring on government's decisions to push forwards with self driving cars.
Uber/Lyft may bankrupt after Robotaxi
Lyft should seek out some type of deal to work with tesla directly.
