To say 1080p on a 6 inch screen is not sharp is ridiculous. It is more than sharp enough and clear enough. Everyone complains and wants 4K on cell phones. There is no need for 4K on cell phones. When phones have 4K then you complain about battery life.
Donald Hannah i know right, since i got a nintendo switch that it s around 8 inch, hd resolution and looks damn gorgeous, im not interested anymore in displays higher than full hd on phones. Beyond that it feels like a minus because you could get alot better battery life on fullhd res
Xperia premium don't run on "native 4K" to begin with. It's run on native 1080p most of time, the only time when you'll see 4K is the content that supports it. Other than that, it runs 1080p because it want to save battery life.

perhaps but all the previous xperia z phones had 5pin 3.5mm headphone jack with support for digital noise cancelling and hd music files .. and they may have a usbc adapter to 5 pin jack converter .. but as someone who uses their phone mosty as a music player it's nice to have the word wide option of a headphone jack as you can pick up a set of compatible headphones anywhere i carry a set of jack earbuds as spares incase my bluetooth headphones run out of juce . i want my new technology with more features but i also want backwards compatibility until everything has the new tech ,, its also the reason i stay away from products that only use their own proprietary chargers and accessories .. if it aint broke don't fix it
I moved a while ago from the S7 to the Xperia XA1 Ultra and my next phone for sure is going to be this or something else similar that Sony puts out. No hate towards samsung but I'm getting the same quality + better battery life in a $400 phone than I would in a $800 samsung or $1100 iphone.

DJohn How is the phone doing ? I am considering buying one for my wife , she has to have 16:9 ratio and 6 inch display . I have looked around and the 16:9 ratio is getting hard to find in a newer device , we are both on cricket wireless and it rocks . I still use a Nexus 6 , the front facing speakers , 6 inch and 16:9 ratio makes it a very good device for me , thanks.
I used to buy sony phones and I had bad experience. They tend to have dead pixels on the top right corner and it happened to me twice. I want to ask if you experience or had same problem? Also, is it with gorilla glass?
I have this phone now... I bought it abt 7months ago and I can't say I love it but I def like it a lot. It has some dope features and the 4k ultra picture is amazing. Especially if u don't have a 4k ultra tv. The multi-tasking functions are crazy tho. Watch RUclips.. While surfing FB and writing a txt msg simultaneously. The camera is really good too.. All around i give it 8 out of 10. My fav phones are the Sony Xperia Z ultra and samsung Mega just for comparisons sake
I have samsung midrange phone with 6 inch 1080p display. To be honest, 1080p display on a smartphone is perfectly fine and I don't have any complain about sharpness. So I don't see the bad thing about the resolution
Hafidz Zakaria right? Mines 1140p but 1080p is more then enough. It's better for battery and more then enough resolution. I really want a option to lower the resolution to 1080 to save battery.
Had this phone for a while now and the speaker is mega loud! You don't need speakers lol and battery life lasts me all day even on constant usage I highly recommend this product
I just got the XA2 Ultra last week at Best Buy open box for $284.00. Don't sleep on open box, the phone had no exterior issues and looked good as new. I also got the XA Ultra and XA1 Ultra from Best Buy open box. ✌😎
My Second one. Searched for a new phone and the Sony xa2 Ultra fit the requirements; Large screen, 16:9 aspect, reasonable fast, fairly current Android release. Got a one in November and lost it. Searched phones again. Bought another xa2 Ultra. Great phone. I get 2 to 3 days of battery life.
Tbh am big fan of Sony , their ui is really smooth but they gotta up their game and shake the market. Give some real challenge to others who came behind Sony and now rules market..

I have no problem with bezels. Would love to see Sony keep the headphone jack in their top flagship phone along with dual front facing speakers, upgrade the cameras along with their 'processor(s?) and storage. I saw where Sony put their fingerprint scanner on the XZ2 - ick. I believe overall Sony does a decent job and looking forward to the XZ2 Pro to see if they clean up the XZ2. Thank you.

I would pick bezels, never cared about them. I even like those Sony bezels! It is more comfortable to hold a phone that way. However, the price tag made me choose xiaomi mi a1 😠
The only problem with my XA2 is that after about three months my screen sensitivity has gone crazy. I've tried everything to recalibrate it but theirs really nothing you can do other than send the phone back into Sony which I haven't done yet. I don't even touch the screen at times and just the presence of my finger will make the screen jump around or the pull-down continually flutter. Other than that its a great phone.
If you want a new mode! phone for LineageOS, the XA2 and XA2 Ultra are two of only a few that are available. The weakness of these phones are the lack of water resistance and AC band for Wi-Fi.
This is a really good mid-range. But the ISO can be changed in manual mode, we just can't reach the 12800 setting. And in superior auto, HDR is activated automatically, that's the way Sony has decided to make it.
And Sony finally priced a phone pretty damn close to right. Right now it's about $390 on Amazon, which is a great price, and to get more performance for the price from a Sony device, you'd have to go to their 2017 flagships. Pretty good deal, I think. I'm probably gonna still go with a Nokia 6.1 because it's even cheaper, but goddamn if this beauty didn't make me pause and seriously consider changing my plans at the last minute.
Just got this for 330, was going to order the MI mix 2 but wouldn't be here till after Xmas, was going to get the Nokia 7.1 but best buy was out settled for this, screen is huge and I prefer the aspect ratio, videos look better then in the 18 by 9 my s8 had, it's a huge phone tho but I have big hands (ladies tall know the procedures) hope it's gets Android pie.

To be honest, Sony makes super great flagship/high-end phones. But their mid-range and entry level smartphones are overshadowed by budget monsters produced by Honor, Motorola, Xiaomi, Oppo/Vivo, and more. They need to bring something better to justify the price as people want more features with less money. I use Xperia XZ2 and I'm happy with it, as it stacks up well against its competitors, but if I don't have enough budget to buy this phone, I might end up buying one of Motorola, Nokia, or Xiaomi phones as they brought a great specs for great value (especially moto). Things that are wrong with XA2/L2 series: - Acceptable design, but they need to shrink the bottom bezel a bit, just to please those bezel-freaks out there. - They need to go full Metal for their mid range phones, and all glass with metal frame for their high end phones. - The rear camera module is already great, more than enough for its class, they just need to improve the camera software. - Although the power management of Sony phones are already good, but they need to increase the capacity (they should do this to the high end models too). - They need to improve the RAM management. - Stereo speakers would be good.

The back volume keys were nice but when I have the phone on a desk it forced me to use the notification menu to adjust the volume for my G3. On my V20 I can use the side volume buttons now when my phone is on the desk. I'm really waiting for them to have those software buttons on the bottom of the screen and make them hardware buttons on the side so The screen is all screen and not have those buttons at the bottom take up screen space. In immersive mode when you auto hide those buttons then you can't use the phone as quickly as you would when the buttons are always there but on screen buttons are starting to look outdated. I like what apple did with the swipe gestures for home button etc. Android should implement this to get rid of those ugly on screen buttons.
Sorry mate but LG's main problem is its motherboard.. i dont like LG phone. always customer complain here in middle east. Damages. LG phones could not handle heavy users customers especially for gamers.
Yea LG has a bad reputation here in US also. Bootloops, motherboard issues also. My friend had to put his G3 motherboard in an oven to fix it.......I guess I'm lucky I have an LG G3 and V20 and zero issues. I do not game on them though but I am on the V20 pretty much all day. So I would say I'm a heavy user apart from gaming. Mostly videos, texting, web browsing, music.

1080p works good even on a 6 inch screen of course 2k is sharper and looks better but the battery life in the high-end phones aren't good at all I would prefer to lose resolution and gain battery life that's the most important thing to more smooth interface and great battery

I just had the worst warranty experience with SONY Xperia (I have XA2 Ultra). Their customer support website says 14 days for a warranty repair or exchange. Then when you get the RMA via email, they say 14 days from the day they receive it. 14 days later, they say it arrive to their Wearhouse on the 4th, not to their repair center, also the 14 days do not include weekends and holidays. Its going to take almost a whole month (25th according to him). They conveniently provide you with bits of information and don’t even offer a type of exchange plan (if within warranty) to expedite the process. Hey SONY, take a page from Motorola’s warranty and repair process. This is my first and last phone with SONY. Oh, and the customer support guy could care less, he just replied with, “that is our process.” Stay away from Xperia, I wonder if the rest of SONY is like this.

Personally I like the no side but top and bottom bezel design better than just complete screen. To me movies and games just looks and feels cleaner

You forgot to mention that the XA2 Ultra is one of the first phones that not only works with LTE+ but will also display LTE+ when you are using LTE+.

I've never seen over 60 Mbps with LTE but with LTE+ I've seen over 200 Mbps and heard it can go much faster.
I prefer fingerprint sensor on side or front as it is more convenient. We have to pick up the phone to unlock, if it is at back.

While the XA2 has stereo microphones the left and right microphones are from the back of the phone instead of the front.

But their mid-range and entry level smartphones are overshadowed by budget monsters produced by Honor, Motorola, Xiaomi, Oppo/Vivo, and more. They need to bring something better to justify the price as people want more features with less money.
I use Xperia XZ2 and I'm happy with it, as it stacks up well against its competitors, but if I don't have enough budget to buy this phone, I might end up buying one of Motorola, Nokia, or Xiaomi phones as they brought a great specs for great value (especially moto).
Things that are wrong with XA2/L2 series:
- Acceptable design, but they need to shrink the bottom bezel a bit, just to please those bezel-freaks out there.
- They need to go full Metal for their mid range phones, and all glass with metal frame for their high end phones.
- The rear camera module is already great, more than enough for its class, they just need to improve the camera software.
- Although the power management of Sony phones are already good, but they need to increase the capacity (they should do this to the high end models too).
- They need to improve the RAM management.
- Stereo speakers would be good.
I bought Sony XA2 Ultra today. Im totally satisfied with it. Sick of notch. 😂

The back volume keys were nice but when I have the phone on a desk it forced me to use the notification menu to adjust the volume for my G3. On my V20 I can use the side volume buttons now when my phone is on the desk. I'm really waiting for them to have those software buttons on the bottom of the screen and make them hardware buttons on the side so The screen is all screen and not have those buttons at the bottom take up screen space. In immersive mode when you auto hide those buttons then you can't use the phone as quickly as you would when the buttons are always there but on screen buttons are starting to look outdated. I like what apple did with the swipe gestures for home button etc. Android should implement this to get rid of those ugly on screen buttons.
Sorry mate but LG's main problem is its motherboard.. i dont like LG phone. always customer complain here in middle east. Damages. LG phones could not handle heavy users customers especially for gamers.
Yea LG has a bad reputation here in US also. Bootloops, motherboard issues also. My friend had to put his G3 motherboard in an oven to fix it.......I guess I'm lucky I have an LG G3 and V20 and zero issues. I do not game on them though but I am on the V20 pretty much all day. So I would say I'm a heavy user apart from gaming. Mostly videos, texting, web browsing, music.
The LG Stylo 4 is actually great, I know this because I have the phone and it works amazing

1080p works good even on a 6 inch screen of course 2k is sharper and looks better but the battery life in the high-end phones aren't good at all I would prefer to lose resolution and gain battery life that's the most important thing to more smooth interface and great battery

I just had the worst warranty experience with SONY Xperia (I have XA2 Ultra). Their customer support website says 14 days for a warranty repair or exchange. Then when you get the RMA via email, they say 14 days from the day they receive it. 14 days later, they say it arrive to their Wearhouse on the 4th, not to their repair center, also the 14 days do not include weekends and holidays. Its going to take almost a whole month (25th according to him). They conveniently provide you with bits of information and don’t even offer a type of exchange plan (if within warranty) to expedite the process. Hey SONY, take a page from Motorola’s warranty and repair process. This is my first and last phone with SONY. Oh, and the customer support guy could care less, he just replied with, “that is our process.” Stay away from Xperia, I wonder if the rest of SONY is like this.
