Hate to hear these stories but people have to think; "Is it smart to leave $26,000 in cash and $20,000 of cards in a car?" No car is "secure" and under no circumstances would I ever leave that type of value in an unattended vehicle. Go straight to the card show and straight home. If you need food, hit the drive through.
T brings up another common scenario. Even luxury hotels are not secure. Many huge thefts in such. Or when walking around, armed robbery is pretty common in rich places like Beverly Hills these days
It’s amazing how the breakers get all the best cards while the mom and pop’s have to pay up front and sometimes have to wait 9 months to get cards…..it’s disgusting
I’m from New Orleans. Under no circumstances do we ever leave anything of value in our vehicles. We don’t even leave work badges in our cars let alone cash or cards
When retailers were sent movies, games, or CDs that had a specific release date, if they sold them before that date, they would lose allocation in the future. Anyone that is opening product before the release date should lose allocation in the future, that should include anyone (distributor or card shop) that sold them the product before the release date.
The sports card hobby has become a target due to the cash flow and expensive cards. Especially with two big robberies /theft and the people got away. This is only the beginning protect your cards and stop leaving money and cards unattended. Use your brain that what you got it for.
I live in Philly and went to the card show they had people at the door cheering your wristbands as u walked into the show and badges I assume. They also had a police officer at the entrance watching everything. They also had officer driving around and inside. They even had some security watching marking sure everything is safe.
This was not stolen at another card show. This was related to a card show but not at a show. Never leave valuables in a car. Easy to steal. Doug is spot on
I don't hate PSA but they are inconsistent so much so,at this point ill buy graded cards but i not sending in any of my raw cards. And if i do decide to grade a card, i would choose SGC.
These crimes at shows are not just limited to card shows. Antique shows , jewelry shows etc. While doing the atlanta show I was told by the old timers to just make sure you have enough gas to drive outside of the city. Be careful people.
All these dealers want cash so they don't have to pay taxes on it, and their too cheap to absorb a 3% transaction fee, but you're inviting problems walking around with all kinds of cash on you.
Theft sounds suspect. I get the fact the dealer had was followed and car was broken into. I am a dealer and never ever leave cash in the car/vehicle. I leave inventory in the vehicle but never ever cash receipts . The lock was picked some how?. It is near impossible to pick modern locks that has a key lock. My gut instinct is the dealer might have gotten his inventory stolen but the cash part is highly suspect. He or she decided to pad the theft for a higher insurance payout.
Why would you leave money and product in your car unless you got an armored vehicle, or park where you can see your vehicle, I wonder if it's an insurance scam
Never leave valuables in a vehicle unless it’s Brinks! We all see it that thefts are not new but dangerous so everyone needs to be carful. Same thing I do when I travel. Don’t break early!!! Should be held accountable 100%
I could care less if someone opens the box a couple days early. If anything it saves people money and hurts the card company that has been bending us over for 4-5 years. It literally changes nothing about what cards you get in a box.
I agree with Tpod that What Not should have an agreement with the card companies and if someone gets caught doing breaks or selling before release dates they should get kicked of What Not
I'd leave my kid in the car before I'd leave 26k in cash and thousands in cards!! 😂😅 But in all seriousness, aren't the adults supposed to tell children to never leave anything valuable unattended in a car?!?! Who does that?!?! I wouldn't even be able to focus reading the menu knowing I had that much value in my car SITTING IN PHILLY!! WTF?!?!?!
To answer your question Doug "who does this appeal to"? It appeals to the people who cant afford hobby prices and the crazy limited expensive parallels and case hits. Which is the overwhelming majority of the hobby these days.
I would say its about the people. My first card show I lost my wallet with my drivers license and 200 bucks in cash and it was turned in all I really wanted was my drivers license but the person who found it was a dealer and thank god nothing was stolen
You have to be vigilant. Always. Never move stuff to your trunk at your destination. I bet that is what actually happened here. But the real mistake was leaving it in the car to begin with.
Assuming these people were at this card show, they likely have cameras in the parking lot. People could be identified getting into the car. Then inside of the card show, cross reference these people from parking lot footage and get images/video of them in the card show.
I'm not from a big city, but I definitely wouldn't leave 26k in cash in my car, and I wouldn't just leave all my cards in there either. That guy's a victim, and I really hope they catch whoever did it. But seriously, you've gotta be smart and not make it easy for people to take advantage of you...
I know everyone likes to leave a show when it's over but I think dealers should really look after each other and that will deter theft in a big way!! 🎉
heres my issue with the early breaking of prizm...as a consumer to that breaker if your willing to be unethical towards panini, why wouldnt you do that to me if i hit monster 1/1? So he has to realize ppl with ethics wont like this. I would 1000% not break with him bc of this.
I had my home broken into during the day and tje theirs got lucky but I did lose $50,000 in single cards and sets not counting everything else and it hurts big time . belive me.
I'm within 2 hours of Philly and I wanted to go but I didn't for this exact reason. Big city and Philly is notorious for things like this. I'll wait for my local card show in March. Small community so It's not gonna be like Philly but I won't get robbed or stolen from
Breaking products before release day is just plainly disrespectful and for what?- PROFIT. They should be penalised by their distributor. There are breakers who do follow the rules and for that they are the better breaker than those who disrespect.
Get Teapot his own hot-air ballon Kaboom 1 of 1 of him in his Detroit jersey staring into the camera and put it on a t-shirt!! 🤣 Great CotT episode. Thanks guys
Why would you leave 26k in cash and 20k in cards in your car in a restaurant parking lot? You have to take accountability for your own actions, no amount of security or cameras will save you from this level of stupidity.
Next time if you are leaving a card show with a bunch of cash & cards, when you hop on the freeway drive a few miles, pull over to the side and wait a few minutes before proceeding. Nah don't take my advice.
Improve internet connectivity to allow convenient and safe cashless transactions… Security presence is not a long term solution and only masks the deficiency of technology to protect attendees from theft.
Great show guys! Your voice with Topps, how about they consider a chrome set called “Traditions” keeping limited but unique and new inserts/parallels to that set only. Thoughts?
Companies/guys that are breaking early before official release dates are definitely affecting the market and sales. If they break and there's no real value cards the impact is less but if they break early and have critical 1/1 cards that would be part of the hunt, they definitely reduce sales for the issuing company. I agree with pulling their licensing agreements with wholesalers if any exist. It's very similar to insider trading of stocks. If they waited to official release dates their finds would still be as valuable. Punish them as much as possible is my position for breaking the rules simply for views. Have RUclips have an agreement with card companies to prevent this.
t pot is right, been going to card shows for years. Regardless of what I have in my carry card case It comes in everywhere with me that day. Don't be stupid
awful. i was at the card show and heard someone screaming on saturday. sad and disappointing thing that happened and i hope this guy gets his cards back
It’s unreal that this show starts with this kinda story every week! Of course this gonna happen at every show. We as a hobby have made these cards have soooo much “value” that it was eventually gonna bring in the bad people. It happened to a buddy of mine at the Chicago spectacular. Over $15,000 just stolen. It’s almost to the point where each dealer needs private security if ur tables have showcases of over $10,000 worth in cards. My local show has hired private cops to walk the show and the dealers pay an extra fee for it. I’ve said it a long time ago after the whole target parking lot shooting over packs of cards. Card shows are basically unlicensed casinos. Can you imagine if Vegas didn’t have cameras or cops???? We did it to ourselves by claiming these cards have these monetary values. Plus it doesn’t when certain people come over the border too.
Couldn’t have put it better. Imagine if instead of cards we were all walking around with $20,000. You would definitely see people taking more precautions
Ouch! Philly still has a lot of things going for it. Some people I know prefer it over other cities because it's more affordable and you still get the benefits of living in a city.
Who leaves that much money in the car?? I mean, the cards I understand cause you dont want to take that into the restaurant, but cash?? Come on man, put that kind of money in your pants or jacket pocket(hopefully with a zipper so you can zip it up)
The story reminds me of the movie double impact with Jean Claude Van Damme. At the beginning of the movie a major event occurs, Then they are followed home to have their stuff stolen.
Heres a tip look into the Security there they are the ones your looking for because they were bragging about it after hours at the bar across the street
I think sellers need to start being realistic…keep your cash on you! Hell bring your cards in the restaurant! I’d rather look crazy rolling my cards in then having them stolen…and nooooo way I’m leaving 20k in my damn car…especially in Philly! SMH
How come car dealers when they come to these shows don't hire some form of security at least two security guards to constantly watch over their product. That's what is happening to the industry. We need security
I had a seller I was let look at my cards in Minnesota steal my Tom Brady Bowman rookie card right in front of me. I yelled and no one came by the time I would have got some one there her wouldn't be sitting on it anymore. I ended up having to walk away and be mad about still to this day
At the end of the day at any of these card shows there should be a way to be safe for the buyers and sellers. It ridiculous that u expect people to bring big cards to sell or trade with out providing security at all tables come on people should be able to feel safe at this places
I feel one it seems like all these thifts are happening in the parking lot. They need to patrol the parking lot more when it comes to security at the facility. Two if they can afford 200 K and have over 100 K of dollars they really should hire a escort bodyguard for themselveswith that type of money. I will have 2 one to stay with the vehicle at all times if possible, and the other one follows me anywhere I move my products or money. I think that will help both sides of the scenario me personally.
Da, that's why you go to drive through. Leave 26K cash in your car and you are shocked that it is stolen???? People, people, people, get smart. At least they didn't follow him home and rob/kill him. Not sure about card dealers but go to a coin show and every dealer is packing!!!
Volume on this video messed up?
Same
Same. Sounds low volume
Yes volume was low
Their audio engineering sucks
Yeah very low
Hate to hear these stories but people have to think; "Is it smart to leave $26,000 in cash and $20,000 of cards in a car?" No car is "secure" and under no circumstances would I ever leave that type of value in an unattended vehicle. Go straight to the card show and straight home. If you need food, hit the drive through.
Seriously. Why leave that much cash/cards in your car?!?
Spot on! Exactly.
The only way ANYTHING is secure is if you are home or have security. Otherwise home invasions during the day while at work are more and more common.
T brings up another common scenario. Even luxury hotels are not secure. Many huge thefts in such. Or when walking around, armed robbery is pretty common in rich places like Beverly Hills these days
$20,000? I wouldn't leave a $20 bill in my car
It’s amazing how the breakers get all the best cards while the mom and pop’s have to pay up front and sometimes have to wait 9 months to get cards…..it’s disgusting
If you want to hold card show organizers responsible for security, then hold WHATNOT responsible for allowing breakers to open product 5 days early.
Panini is so checked out at this pint, they could not give 2 F's that anything like that happens right now.
How is this a panini issue?
@@collector_and_gamer The fact that they are going to do absolutely nothing to remedy the issue. That is 110% a Panini issue.
@gstwarriors5 what are they suppose to do on theft?
@@collector_and_gamer I am only talking about the early opening issue. This has nothing to do with any of the other topics....
I’m from New Orleans. Under no circumstances do we ever leave anything of value in our vehicles. We don’t even leave work badges in our cars let alone cash or cards
I nearly died when he said “play by the rules homie” 😂😂
I’m not shelling out $1K for a hobby box that have maybe 50% of the chase cards gone before release date. Much less $1
Once the big chase cards have been pulled, the product is no longer relevant to buy
I love T-Pot bud dude is a straight up square.
😂
Play by the rules homie 😂😂
Squeak scolari

The thieves are just doing the same things that the dealers are doing except illegally

As a vendor at the Dallas Card Show I can confirm they did raise their table cost for 2025.
I live in Philly and went to the card show they had people at the door cheering your wristbands as u walked into the show and badges I assume. I think he's looking for views with all his bait titles
I see he doesn't like my comment
Man, Geoff is sore about not being able to open prizm early.
Robbed in Philly ? BIG surprise
A demoncrat run city. Go figure
I don't hate PSA but they are inconsistent so much so,at this point ill buy graded cards but i not sending in any of my raw cards. And if i do decide to grade a card, i would choose SGC.
Not a very smart person to leave cards and cash in your car. Take responsibility for your actions. Expensive lesson learned.
6:48 but this didn't happen AT the show. So increasing security would have changed nothing.
Ur time stamp is off by a few😂
Sad to see the thefts. This week a UK based grading company ACE Grading was broken into and a bunch of customers cards were stolen. Really sucks
These crimes at shows are not just limited to card shows. Antique shows , jewelry shows etc. While doing the atlanta show I was told by the old timers to just make sure you have enough gas to drive outside of the city. Be careful people.
Volume is super quiet on this video
All these dealers want cash so they don't have to pay taxes on it, and their too cheap to absorb a 3% transaction fee, but you're inviting problems walking around with all kinds of cash on you.
When the guilty part I es are caught, put them in jail 1 year for every dollar of value!!
You are in Atlanta.
I am surprised you don't have steel bars in front of all the windows and a metal detector at the front door.

Few have insurance because insurance seldom pays. How do you prove you sold 26K in cash at the show? Ohh you mean you had 35K or 42K or----
Can we all agree that T-Pot is without a doubt the most sensible person? Like in my opinion he is always dead on.
🤝 🙏🏻
Why would you leave money and product in your car unless you got an armored vehicle, or park where you can see your vehicle, I wonder if it's an insurance scam
Stryker always opens Topps products early 🤷🏽♂️ if this guy buys from panini direct… he should be punished.
Never leave valuables in a vehicle unless it’s Brinks! We all see it that thefts are not new but dangerous so everyone needs to be carful. Same thing I do when I travel.
Don’t break early!!! Should be held accountable 100%

Need one of those 360degree car cameras to see what's going and get instantly notified on your phone of any activity in and around your vehicle
I'd leave my kid in the car before I'd leave 26k in cash and thousands in cards!! 😂😅
But in all seriousness, aren't the adults supposed to tell children to never leave anything valuable unattended in a car?!?!

That sucks. Rule of thumb: Never leave anything in your car that you are not willing to part with.
This same thing happened to a guy at a coin show people fallowed a dealer home and robbed him for his collection
How did they know he was going to stop for dinner? How did they know he’d leave cards/cash in his vehicle (1st mistake)?
If I caught someone breaking into my car it would be the last time they would do anything like that. It's to bad we all have to carry anymore.
I know everyone likes to leave a show when it's over but I think dealers should really look after each other and that will deter theft in a big way!! 🎉

26:00 lol I’m here for the Panini rants. They deserve it 😅
I always wondered why no security is at these shows with all the cash and cards

As usual, great show!👏👏
Breaking products before release day is just plainly disrespectful and for what?- PROFIT. They should be penalised by their distributor. There are breakers who do follow the rules and for that they are the better breaker than those who disrespect.
Why would a show promoter be responsible for a dealers bad decisions. This wasn't even done at a card show.
Get Teapot his own hot-air ballon Kaboom 1 of 1 of him in his Detroit jersey staring into the camera and put it on a t-shirt!! 🤣
Great CotT episode. Thanks guys
😂😂
Collectivus for the rest of us!!!!
Someone stole from Santiago too, maybe same person? He said they were on camera
Why would you leave 26k in cash and 20k in cards in your car in a restaurant parking lot? You have to take accountability for your own actions, no amount of security or cameras will save you from this level of stupidity.
Where’s the volume? The wind in my cracked window is louder than this video on full blast!
Next time if you are leaving a card show with a bunch of cash & cards, when you hop on the freeway drive a few miles, pull over to the side and wait a few minutes before proceeding. Nah don't take my advice.
Locking things in your vehicle does not make them secure.
Improve internet connectivity to allow convenient and safe cashless transactions… Security presence is not a long term solution and only masks the deficiency of technology to protect attendees from theft.
Dual!!! not Duel!!!
Yes, with an a, not an e.
your my favourite youtuber, I love your content.
Thanks so much!
I like Beckett for Autograph cards, PSA for older based non auto cards.
Great show guys! Your voice with Topps, how about they consider a chrome set called “Traditions” keeping limited but unique and new inserts/parallels to that set only. Thoughts?
I love Kensington Park area in Philly.... brotherly love.
"Duel" downtowns? Are the players meeting up at sundown for this?
Companies/guys that are breaking early before official release dates are definitely affecting the market and sales. Why should I pay over $1000 dollars for something and certain cards are not even available anymore
t pot is right, been going to card shows for years. Regardless of what I have in my carry card case It comes in everywhere with me that day. Don't be stupid
Ebay should buy Beckett and offer that promo/synergy as a response to PSA's budding "not a sports card marketplace" marketplace.
awful. i was at the card show and heard someone screaming on saturday. sad and disappointing thing that happened and i hope this guy gets his cards back
Great video Geoff!!🎉

Philly is a dump not surprised
Yes, it is where the fentanyl crisis started.
Yea except the show is in a very nice area . Its not near the city
Ouch! Philly still has a lot of things going for it. Some people I know prefer it over other cities because it's more affordable and you still get the benefits of living in a city.
Says the troll that’s never been there
This happened at The National this year, Dallas show as well. Are all major cities a dump I guess? spoken like an ignorant prick.
How do they see a car following him and cops can't get it and arrest someone
Who leaves that much money in the car?? I mean, the cards I understand cause you dont want to take that into the restaurant, but cash?? Come on man, put that kind of money in your pants or jacket pocket(hopefully with a zipper so you can zip it up)
Needs chips in these fancy cards
The story reminds me of the movie double impact with Jean Claude Van Damme. At the beginning of the movie a major event occurs, Then they are followed home to have their stuff stolen.
kept 50k in his car while at dinner? That's just stupid.
Check on your audio mix. The voices are extremely low and sound effects and music are at higher levels. Seems to be happing past few weeks.
Heres a tip look into the Security there they are the ones your looking for because they were bragging about it after hours at the bar across the street
No tracking devices in those cases?
I think sellers need to start being realistic…keep your cash on you! Hell bring your cards in the restaurant! I’d rather look crazy rolling my cards in then having them stolen…and nooooo way I’m leaving 20k in my damn car…especially in Philly! SMH
This is the state of america in general. The fact that this surprises anyone means they're living with their head in the sand.
This is why Will was sent to live with his Aunty and Uncle in Bel-Air
Hahaha

Then and now downtown. Old and new players together.
