- This is the song Victoria was playing during the entrance of Albert in the latest episode. I don't know if the track was written for the show or if it existed before, but I couldn't find it anywhere so I decided to upload the show version.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to remove the noises, but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
Why does everyone keep complaining that it's too slow? I think this slower version has a certain charm to it. It's a bit more soothing to me.. and I find it romantic as well :P (but then again I'm a hopeless romantic and a dead leaf might have some weird sort of romantic charm to me xD )

Victoria and Albert were reportedly "accomplished" pianists, but would she have been able to perform this as well as a concert pianist?
because the original marking tempo by Beethoven is Prestíssimo, the faster tempo in classical music terms, and it should be performed like the composer wanted to be played, cause thats how he imagined and created this piece. If you like a slow tempo good for you, but that doesn't make it right. Greetings

I like this show version better that the original don't know why. Both good tho.
It’s meant to show the turbulence and determination of young Victoria determined to be a virgin queen or at least find an agreeable husband whom no one pushes on her and it does add some drama to Alberts grand entrance but since he’s going in slow mo it fits the scene

I do like the slower version. There are still arguments among professional musicians about how fast tempo markings should be and how strictly we should adhere to the original composer’s notation. In a concert or professional setting, the goal is usually to stay as true to the composer’s original work. However in a private setting or personal enjoyment, we should be able to experiment and enjoy music however we wish!
On an unrelated note I noticed that this is a Beethoven piece, who was Lord M’s favorite in the show. Perhaps it is symbolic that at the conclusion of the Beethoven piece, Albert now appears to Victoria. Later, I believe Albert and Victoria play Schubert together, who has a very different style than Beethoven. (Beethoven is way more dramatic and usually considered a Romantic composer, which actually probably fits Albert more haha)
I like it too, as well as the original version. I am no expert when it comes to musical execution, but I agree that anyone should play as it pleases them in their leisure time.
As for the symbolism of the scene, I've never noticed it, thank you! I love this interpretation 😍

Who is the actual pianist in this clip? If it's not played prestissimo, it really has a completely different feel to it!
The actress, Jenna Coleman, said she had to learn to play the piano for her role in the show, so I'm assuming she's the one playing in this clip.
@@achingheart Actually, it is not Jenna playing. She also said in an interview that even though she tried to learn it, she wasn't able to, so someone else had to play it. Jenna herself is just acting. They also had a hand double for her writing letters since they were supposed to be written in a certain way.
