"Victoria" 2016 tv series starring: Jenna Coleman, Rufus Sewell season 1, episode 3 Musical piece: Ludwig van Beethoven - Piano Sonata no.1 op.2 / Prestissimo (4/4)
Yes. I had no idea how brilliant Jenna Louise Coleman was at the piano. Others who were brilliant at playing were Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett. Jenna as well as Kacey Ainsworth (Ex-Little Mo) EastEnders and Suranne Jones (Ex-Karen McDonald) Coronation Street have really taken US by storm. I would love for Jenna Louise Coleman to be a presenter at next year's Daytime Emmy Awards and talk about her early years on Emmerdale.
I wonder who was turning the pages before? And the song was ending, not sure she needed a page turn. But I say this after watching this clip at least a hundred times. Well done for drama!
Loraine Spencer The part we hear appears a few times in the movement, twice at the beginning, in the middle, and the entire sonata of course finishes with it too. the page but I digress) The tone shift in the second half of the movement would have come just after the last note Victoria gets up to in this scene.
Just hearing "Victoria" and "Albert" so close together triggered something in me. It just feels right to hear the names said alongside one another, especially since I grew up in a city that has the "Victoria and Albert" this and the "Victoria and Albert" that. With just two names, they established and set the tone for one of the world's most famous love affairs.
I liked the climatic ending, when he first says "Victoria", and then she says, "Albert", whilst at the same time, "Hallelujah!" is playing in the background.
This scene in particular made me heart race! So damn good. Love the shots of Albert and Ernest walking, i don't know but it did something to me. Then when Albert approached her and turned her sheet music omg 😍😩😩😩😩 I love this series
Albert must have been something special. From what I remember reading about the real Victoria, after his early death at just forty-two years of age she sunk into a deep depression that she never recovered from. For the last four decades of her reign and life she wore black and pretty much became a recluse.
Only time she wore white afterwards was on one of her Jubilee's, and I think she was wearing her wedding veil then. Every morning after he died she had his clothes lain out and had soap, fresh towels and hot water brought up to her room for his morning shave as though he were going to walk in at any moment.
agenttheater5 I remember reading somewhere that she gave her veil to her daughter Beatrice on her wedding day because apparently she was her favourite child
I have watched this scene at least 6 times now. It is perfection! The music is stirring. The shots of the princes walking: the boot tassels swaying, the slender hips accentuated by the gold embroidery, and finally the sensuous shot of Albert's full lips.....WOW! Then Victoria looks at him and it's instant attraction, but she doesn't want her creepy Uncle Leopold to be RIGHT, and she's annoyed that the princes have shown up against her wishes. ALL of that shows on her face in just a few seconds. LOVE IT!
The thing I love about this is how I know what's going to happen. I know that despite all her protests and not wanting Albert to come, I know that he does come and they fall in love with each other. So in that moment at the piano when they only say each others' names, I got chills. CHILLS!!!
I love Rupert and Emily's portrayal of Albert and Victoria, they really made me fall in love with their story, I'm sure Tom and Jenna will do an amazing job even if I'm just going with this short interaction
Damn they are so handsome! Those walks, Alberts lips, Ernest that slight smile, his confidence to turn her music page, breathe taking!! The way he said her name Victoria, Made me wanna marry him and have 8 kids!!
@@naiadacreations It's funny you should say that, because according to her daughter Princess Alice, Victoria had indeed been hoping to have "one more child" when Albert died, and part of her grief was that she knew she would now have no more babies. Which is weird, because she supposedly HATED being pregnant, nor did she like babies until they were a bit older. But Victoria was nothing if not a walking contradiction.
me in 2020 watching this series for the first time scrolling through the comments to make sure this scene has been appreciated enough, IT IS BEAUTIFUL, hands down, so well shot, the writers were aware that majority people are already aware of their history and they totally made it a moment. It was a slow reveal of what everyone was eagerly waiting for and knew was coming. Very well thought out.
The perfect entrance. Slow mo, close ups, dramatic music. Victoria being the last to notice him and then being the most entranced. They had one of the most beautiful real relationships. People say 'love at first sight' and what not. But proved by the Queen's real statement about when she first saw Albert, true love was there instantly.
@@Winterlichmann they broke up long before this. These two have been together for a year or two. They would have beautiful children with beautiful full lips.
This scene was fantastically done- it totally plays on the thrill and the knowing suspense of knowing full well who the young man is and who he will be to Victoria.
Prince Albert's entrance is one of the best character introductions on TV. The intense music, the mysterious tall frame, how the Queen was so into playing the piano until the prince appeared next to her. That moment when they locked eyes, the chemistry was sparking more than any firework shows. Tom and Jenna broke up in real life but I still hope they come back on screen as Victoria and Albert or at least do another romantic series together Tom & Jenna are too beautiful together. Their chemistry shouldn't be wasted!
Came back here because s3 is making me sad. I remember the first time I saw this moment. It was summer and I was waiting for their first meet so impatiently... then it happened. The tension, the pathos, ERNEST, and the mistery behind Albert who we hadnt seen yet... The whole scene is directed in a perfect way. I still remember I was sweating so much and not only because it was summer and I was sitting on a plastic chair...
My favorite scene. It's simply magic.!! . It was so well done . .The pounding exciting music , the partial sight of the two of them striding along with their impressive costumes , and just a glimpse of Albert's handsome face... Then him suddenly appearing beside her , taking Victoria by surprise. I love it. !!
It's probably just a coincidence, but the piece she is playing inspired Serge Gainsbourg when he wrote Poupée de Cire, Poupée de son, about a young girl who has to conform to the wishes of those around her.
Am I the only one that felt bad for Lord M in this scene? Just look at his face... :( Don't get me wrong, i love Victoria and Albert together, but, but... Lord M... :(
ugh I was the only inept one to not have known the history, so I was operating on high hopes for Lord M's and Victoria's happy ending. Then this happened. I felt so betrayed.
Let’s be honest all us history buffs screamed excitedly when Albert came in.
Don't judge me!

I fucking squealed
@@laminage actually she wasn't playing the piano, it was a double.

I love how he just walked in, bold as brass, and turned her music over for her. The sudden chemistry though 😍

I was half expecting him to kiss her shoulders.....
It’s his future role as her husband in a nutshell.
@@L.Spencer You can turn it yourself; most people know a piece well enough to play the transition from memory.
When Albert walks over to Victoria, her uncle’s face at 1:06 literally screams, “YES, MY SHIP IS SAILING!”

"I know your country's monarchy is constitutional too, but shouldn't the King of Belgium be...in Belgium?"
"I know my priorities, dear."
Their uncle. Leopold was Victoria and Albert's uncle they were cousins
Leopold was a classic matchmaker. Gotta give it to him.

He is extremely good looking and that entrance...I am impressed!
ElberethOhGilthoniel that was a very nice entrance!
In really he wasnt
He has great bone structure. Ernst isn't so bad himself.
@@gerardcollins6621 he was a very good-looking man.
@@sweetbitter2 Albert was also very built and rather muscular, even more than the actor here. The paintings are astonishing.
And thus was set in motion the beginning of one of the greatest dynasties in European history.
Spreading hemophilia to royal families and tarnishing other royal dynasties? Lmao
Dan Kane Like they could do anything about haemophilia back then! You dipstick!
