- After a year long time of not having a computer, I am finally back to finish what i should have a long time ago.
This is the highly anticipated final battle to the death with Dark Samus.
Being our arch-rival, and the driving force of all the corruption in the galaxy, Dark Samus is no pushover.
On Phaaze, all energy tanks are converted into a Hypermode gauge. The gauge will fill up as time passes and when Samus takes damage. As a result of this, Samus is in Hypermode for the entire duration of her stay on Phaaze. We will fight Dark Samus at our absolute best. Dark Samus, however, is stronger than ever. Having absorbed the powers of the three hunters and having a home field advantage on Phaaze, she is the greatest threat the universe has seen. We must stop her here and end all corruption.
The fight itself is extremely fun, and definitely has a "final showdown" feel to it.
Dark Samus will start off the battle by dropping large Phazon crystals from above. These will embed into the ground and hinder you a bit. They can be destroyed and will occasionally drop small pickups. Dark Samus usually ends up destroying these herself. The crystals can be destroyed in one missle. Dark Samus picked up this move from our dear friend Rundas.
Dark Samus starts with a simple attack pattern. She has a scattershot familiar from Prime 2 that she fires in a sweeping motion. This is usually easy to avoid and doesnt do a lot of damage. She may also fire a volley of up to 5 Phazon energy shots at you. These travel slowly and can be destroyed in one shot. Dark Samus has full utilization of the Shinespark. She can use it to soar high into the air and crash back down, making a shockwave that can be jumped over. She is invincible during this move. Finally, she has a close range attack that creates a small shockwave around her and can deflect missles.
Fighting her during this phase is simple, just dodge her attacks and counterattack. Hyper Missles can stun her but she will often deflect them with her small shockwave. I find that the Morph Ball and Hyper are useless during the entire fight with Dark Samus.
After inflicting some damage, a cutscene will play that shows off Dark Samus's ability to regenerate health by absorbing Phazon from Phaaze. During these moments you will want to attack her as quickly as possible to interrupt her and continue the fight.
After continuing she will show off her "Echoes" ability. She makes up to two copies of herself that aid her in battle. These echoes can be distinguished in two ways. They dont have as many details in their armor and they show up as transparent in the X-Ray Visor. The real Dark Samus shows up in the X-Ray visor. This detail is useful to note because it can help to find Dark Samus when you want to damage her or stop her regenerating (from this point on the echoes act as decoys when she regenerates health). The echoes can be destroyed, but they have a fair amount of health. They also have full access to Dark Samus's basic attacks.
A new mechanic is introduced that proves very annoying to deal with. Dark Samus can combine with the echoes to become invincible and use new attacks. Sometimes it can be strategic to destroy the echoes to prevent her becoming invincible. Some new attacks include having a dual beam attack with one echo clone. This can be stopped by destroying the clone or standing between them. Another attack includes a charging attack where the real Dark Samus charges at you and the clones follow. Another attack includes flying into the air with her clones to fire volleys of energy at you in regular intervals. These can be shot down.
Her most devastating clone attack though has her and her clones sweeping across the ground moving rapidly in a treyarch motion. It is very hard to hit her and avoid damage during this attack. I find that using the Screw Attack minimizes damage.
During the final leg of the fight, Dark Samus will occasionally fly high in the air and fire a plasma beam at you. She obtained this power from Ghor. She may also jump into the air and land firing a ground based energy blast at you. She absorbed this power from Gandrayda.
Endure Dark Samus's onslaught and you will finally repel her. She stumbles back and summons Aurora Unit 313. She flies up and melds her essence with the Aurora Unit. Now, the real final battle begins.
With the hypermode additions, this easily becomes my favorite final boss. Just a no holds barred shootout.
Dark Samus is so badass she doesn't even have to walk lol
This is like the hardest boss battle in the game on Hypermode with Mogenar being the second hardest
I just noticed that Dark Samus can use abilities from all of Samus's allies throughout the game, whose corpses she had absorbed when they were killed. She has Ghor's Plasma Beam, she has Rundas's homing Ice Beam shots and ice pillars, and she has Gandrayda's leaping+shockwave attacks.
I love how Dark Samus laughs during the battle.
sonpanchan when
3:34
This is the only time Dark Samus laughs in the entire Corruption game. She only does this when she is re-energizing with her echoes and you happen to disrupt her without eliminating her other clones first. I found this odd because I'm like, "But DS, she exposed you easily. Why are you laughing?" I think she should only laugh if you kill her clones first when re-energizing as her way mocking you, saying "You're getting warmer."
the one interesting thing i noticed in this game is how the corruption over time was destroying samus's body, the more over time she got infected the more her body got disfigured if you ever shot the wall to see your own face you could see the corruption in it
Very perceptive of you. You can also do the same thing by switching to the scan visor.
i wanna see ;-;
I love that you scan her, read the info and zoom in, like you’re giving us a little depth view rather than just her battles tactics in a fight
I just want dark samus in smash bros.
T SMACKS technically, it is already
+Steven “ppowersteef” Soooooo disappointing...
+Steven “ppowersteef” yea that don't count, she should be playable, especially if dark Pitt who is horrible, is playable.
+T SMACKS dark pit is just a skin with mere changes of pit, and samus has already have a dark samus skin, so why complain, i don't want dark samus she would just be another clone.
TheUltra he's more of a clone than dark Samus would be. Ds barely have the same movesets. She'd got better than dark pitt. And that is no skin of dark Samus, it's a complete rip off
Veteran mode is a cakewalk compared to this shit. It feels like you shoot half of phaaze into her and she just keeps going.
Yep, Hypermode is a legitimately good jump in difficulty if you dont abuse hypermode invincibility for the whole game. It's generally my issue with the Trilogy edition as well, since that version lowers every difficulty.
I only recently managed to finish hypermode since that gauntlet of final bosses is absurd. The difficulty spike around Rundas / Mogenar is crazy, but the whole of Skytown and the Pirate base isn't too bad.
StudioChrome
I dont know. The bosses dont pick up in real difficulty until about Helios, excluding the Metroid Hatcher. Mogenar is pretty easy, even if he's a pain int eh ass to whittle down in Hypermode. Helios can be a little difficult given his touch to aim at weak points and high damage. Gandrayda is where the game really starts throwing everything its got at you though.
@@Omegadragon4 mogenar, the first steam lord, ridley, and the aurora unit where the bosses that I kept getting stuck on hell I'm stuck on the aurora unit
@@Omegadragon4 6 years late, but in what world is Mogenar easier than Helios??? Helios is a joke even on hypermode.
and the he proceeded to die horribly to the aurora unit 313 after taking such ridiculous amount of dmg
she
I didn't know you could use the X-ray visor to spot the real one! Cool!
I wish this were the final boss fight in this game.
it is
Yeah imagine you fight your way trough the aurora unit then when the head crash dark samus emerge from the wreck then you battle it out
(kinda of a call back to the first game)
I love how the opening to the boss fight looks more like a movie scene than a video game
My fav Metroid game to this date!
Surprisingly, i disagree. Prime 3 i felt was the first Wii title to properly fully utilize the Wii's capabilities in a way that worked perfectly. It feels natural with Wii controls.
only problem was my arm got tired after a while
0:49 echoes,
*echo fighter?*
best wii game; good shooting; i love fighting dark samus in hypermode
I just love how in all of the Metroid Prime games you get to see what badass things happen up close and personal.
But sometimes that just makes you shit yourself.
3:34 Didn't know Dark Samus can actually still laugh like that in this game.
Thought that was only in Prime 2(where its more apparent in the second fight against her/it)
Such a beautiful game.
My favorite of all Nintendo villains!
The pattern with the circley bit (where DS and its clones go into 3d-modelling mode, hurr hurr) is that they tend to go to the middle after going for you. You can bait DS into going that way and suddenly going the other way. You'll likely avoid all damage once you get the hang of it and repeat the process.
True. Screw Attacking does have a chance of damaging her and the echoes though.
@@regalia8717 I thought that I saw either an echo or Dark Samus flashing red upon impact with Samus.
Dark samus was born from phazon which created her. I'm guessing she's a lot stronger with the phazon especially when she absorb it all on her own.
Best halo game I've seen since 5 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You see Samus's hand in the arm cannon making some from of shape. how does she fire? 😂😂
There's a trigger inside the arm cannon. When she fires you can see her pull the trigger, much like a gun.
I watched at least 7 videos of the fight on here hoping for someone to zoom in on her logbook model. Thanks!
Good luck with the PSA. I am highly anticipated. ;-)
So have I. Dark samus is quite the boss. I just hope samus dosen't have to face her in metroid prime 4. If you know what I am getting at.
2:25 Dark Samus uses Shadow Clone Jutsu
YEEEAAAH!!!
I don't know why but I find that Dark Samus is kind of creepy in some strange way.
Remind me again why *this* wasn't the final boss?
Thenextworldwar Probably because Retro Studios wanted to pay special homage to the Mother Brain fight in Super Metroid. While i agree that Dark Samus is the better boss, i don't mind that they ended on the Aurora Unit.
It just annoys me *here* because Aurora Unit 313 is the last boss of the entire Prime trilogy... and it's just decent. Nothing amazing, just okay. Dark Samus *is* an amazing boss battle, and comes first, when it *really* ought to be the other way around. And honestly, a fight with your Phazon doppelgänger who managed to bring a sentient planet under its control makes a far better battle than the computer said doppelgänger used to do so...
It made more sense for AU 313 to be the final boss story-wise. Since it was symbiotically linked to Phaaze, killing it was the only way to destroy Phazon and Dark Samus for good.
So if we stop with Dark Samus, it would be of no use since she would just revive herself and go on with her plans, and it is impossible to have Dark Samus fight after AU 313 since she would die as soon as the Unit is destroyed.
Plus, don't forget that Dark Samus fuses with the Aurora Unit. So technically, you're fighting a Dark Samus-controlled Mother Brain.
This could be better handwaved as just "Dark Samus sics the Aurora Unit 313 on you, her death is slow and her boss fight is essentially an attempt to take you with her".
+Thenextworldwar Would be cool if Dark Samus was able to assume a form resembling its original form as Metroid Prime. Or even bringing back its husk and using it against Samus
Really you're fighting the metroid prime from the first metroid prime over and over again because the metroid prime is mainly made up of pure phazon and it stole the phazon suit in the end of the first game, really the PDF suit is the phazon suit replica to fight the metroid prime in hyper mode again.
Exactly. The whole trilogy is named for the creature you are fighting to stop in all 3 games. However, once the original Metroid Prime steals the original phazon suit (and some of Samus's DNA) it not only becomes a fight against the Metroid Prime, but a fight against yourself.
yep, but a little less skill than you, if you're an experienced player, a whole lot more if you're a new player
+Ωmega it took me this long to realize that. that kind of login makes so much sense.
+Omega Too bad Dark Samus isn't coming back for Prime 4. Its going to feel weird seeing a main Prime game without her/it and the concept of Phazon.
Yes I know theres Hunters and Federation Force but they are spin-offs.
I honestly want a Metroid prime trilogy manga
dud battling her in hypermode is nearly impossiblr to kill i always die when shebhas 1/4 of health left
All you have to do is click the little cube in the lower right corner of the logbook entry.
it would be cooler if dark samus turned back into her strongest form
the metroid prime
Would be interesting if she/it at least find the husk of its original form and reanimates it to sic on Samus
3 thing;
1- Darck Samus Arm Cannon is similar to the beta of the ice beam in prime 1
2- Are you always in hyper mode in this fight or can you switch off or on
3- Your damage meter goes up and you need to use that to depleted it, if I'm understanding right.
+Chuggvsme The moment you step onto Phaaze you are permanently in hypermode and cannot leave the planet. You cannot switch it off.
That meter is not so much a damage meter as it is a corruption meter. It goes up over time, and damage does add to it. Once it maxes out you die to corruption. The only way to delete it is to die or collect anti-phazon (which is a unique health item pickup specific to Phaaze)
Ωmega Okay thanks, that always confuse me because how most people not getting out of Hyper-mode after the omega Ridley fight, and I thought the meter started after that boss.
+Ωmega It can also be depleted via weapon use and the hyper grapple.
Dark Samus is awesome he should be in the new super smash
"He" is a SHE my friend
yes sorry, but she would be in super smash
markmgc She is as a assist trophy
Strongest Link actually is an it, since is made of energy, thus making it kind of an object...
Francisco Santos
Actually, Link was right.
Dark Samus was born from the fusion of the Phazon Suit and the core essence of Metroid Prime. The phazon suit contained Samus's DNA, meaning that Dark Samus is a female. Even the log book scans call her female.
0:35- DS: Hello again, dummkopf!
S: Let's finish this! *narrows eyes
OMG how do you go the the image thing while you are on logbook
Anyone else noticed that you're basically using phazon to fight phazon? Not sure how that works...
Its similar to the end of Prime 2. Dark Samus is so full of Phazon that normal attacks wouldn't work. You're basically overloading and destabilizing her with Phazon.
Same thing happens in the final boss of the first Prime as well. Each game has you defeating Metroid Prime by pumping it full of Phazon.
Almost all of the combat after getting the PED Suit in Corruption was based on this concept and scans from all three games reference how Phazon creatures, while extremely resistant to everything else, are weak to Phazon assaults because of the substance's unstable nature.
Gotta ask... Was this all just one attempt? Or multiple? Cuz it seems like a trial and error fight.
Thatoneguy157 This particular video was done in one take. I believe when I first fought her it took me like, 3-4 times
Ωmega Awesome. Also, I started playing this game again. On the abandoned G.F.S station. It's difficult to figure out what to do, but it's fun. Also, I don't think that I could EVER do Hypermode. Especially 100% that shit. Too hard.
This is why dark samsu is in smasg
When I fight dark samus I use the hyper ball when she and her 2 echoes spin trying to come at me
Blazing Zero Much easier using missiles just stay at the wall and jump and fire and when she tries to reform shoot in the middle and most of the time destroys all the echoes and stuns Dark Samus sending her backwards
Wait, this game had a model viewer? What?
2:05
Love this boss fight Dark Samus did great wish she was still around lol But nonetheless Samus is a Boss untill Other M messed up lol good game and story in my opinion bad with Samus Aran's Character traits ;)
I sense a Ridley treatment soon for some reason... Idk probably just a mech skin for the spin off...
This game would have been awesome if it wasn't for the wiimote controls.
honestly Dark Samus should have stayed alive Samus Our Samus could have used her help for future problems come on plz tell me you all didnt see the bonus cutscene at the end of the game when you 100% it I know Dark Samus wa evil but she was a Metroid who stole Samus's Phazon suit from MP1 and in MP2 she came back for what really dont really know didnt somewhat inderstand story but bad emeny takes over a planet cliche but Dark Samus had a reason was it to get strong by Misunderstood means or just to say Hi IDK but Samus could have spared her
Xavier is my Name and I support Dark Samus
***** and I understand that but come on you cant tell me she couldnt have tried to reason with her cause Dark Samus was basically a metroid corrupted by Phazon she Samus has befriended a metroid be for but that was by accident but it still turned out great cause in the long run it sacrificed itself to save her from being kill by Mother Brain gave her full energy and the HyperBeam you can tell me Dark Samus's abilities couldnt have been used to to so...
TheDragonMario There WAS no reasoning with Dark Samus. The Metroid Prime that became Dark Samus retained its memories, so it would never view Samus as anything else except an enemy.
The Metroid that imprinted on Samus, the Baby Metroid, ONLY befriended her because it thought Samus was its Mother.
I know im just that what if type of guy i understand what your saying but the secret ending and my thoughs on if Dark Samus was still alive could she have helped our Samus beat the dude in the ship of Form the cool team i dont know its just that MP3 had samus team killed but Phazon corruption and then they made her fight them i just had me down :( so i just try to stay positive with this what if thing...
+Ωmega you have to admit what he's trying to convey what if it had been real. Just saying tho the argument can go both ways :)
Dark samus cannot be reasoned with it may have been sentient but it was still driven by its primal desire to consume phazon and evolve further or spread it and bend the Galaxy to her will. It only sees samus as a threat and a frustration and a potential weapon for it to use through corruption
3:41 - Something tells me that's a glitch...
nope its a real attack :P
Power Poe
They're supposed to go into T-poses? O-o
ONI Agent Locke
They arent quite in T-poses. Their arms and hands are near their waists, not extended straight out at the shoulders.
+Diem Surprised no one went wild with the T-Pose meme on that one
Dark Samus is a She,yo.
Dark Samus is too a woman or a man?
Dark Samus is confirmed to be female.
Well, that's logic.
Isn't dark samus metroid prime?
Dark Samus is indeed the Metroid Prime Samus faced on Talon IV. However, because it absorbed a portion of Samus's DNA, Dark Samus is female.
DoomKiller Ext Dark Samus is female but Metroid Prime was genderless.
Not a bad Game . But i don't like FPS :(
This is just a good prove about how much Metroid sucks.
Seriously this is the most LAMEST final boss fight what I we ever seen.
HOW IN A HELL THIS SHITTY FRANCHISE CAN BE A METASCORE GAME?
***** ALL boss battles in Metroid series are a lames as hell.
Nice to see this guy's poison spread to sites outside of DA.
2004Zilla What?
+ShadowFalconPictures Play the Prime Series for yourself and discover why they are so good ;)
What is a good prove?
And I don't see how this is the "most lamest" final boss ever.
In fact, this isn't the final boss. The final boss is the Aurora Unit.
