  • Irish Rail retro liveried 071 class locomotive number 073 is seen here working a Timber train from Westport - Waterford.
Firstly we see 073 at the former station of Knockcroghery, County Roscommon where it slowly approaches the signal to await the level crossing barriers to go down, once clear it proceeds onwards to Athlone.
Next we head to Erris Grove, Kilmacuagh, County Westmeath where having cleared Athlone we see Retro 073 once again passing as it makes it's way onward to Kildare.
Next we arrive at Old Road bridge just outside Kildare Station where we see 073 making a very rare appearance in the sidings at Kildare Station, it goes in to collect a single timber wagon before joining it to the main rake, we then see Retro 071 passing with a later running IWT Liner to NW, next we see two Mk4 trains passing where we also see Belmond 201 class loco number 216 on the Cork - Heuston Mk4. Then after some time passes and with only just barely enough light to spare, 073 then departs with the Timber as it continues on towards Waterford.
Footage was filmed on Wednesday the 12th of December 2018.
