By Allah, this came to me at the perfect time. I wasn’t even subbed, now I am though!! I really needed this, idk what’s wrong with me a few weeks back I started to pray regularly since then I haven’t been peaceful. I keep thinking about dying, my parents, health anxiety or thoughts like why I should study when I can die any moment, but this is the waswasa of shaitan I suppose. Please pray for me. the question is what if we think that we have done our best to this or that exam but we didn’t actually know that we could try harder, and when you get your results back and you see it’s not as much as you expected, so is that grade still the plan of allah (s.w.t) or we ourselves ruined the plan?
Sorry i didnt see this till now, this is wayy above my pay grade lol, I'm not educated enough to answer this. So I recommend you check out sheikh belal asaad's 4 part series on Qada and Qadr.
But all i can say is you cannot ruin the plan, because it was already planned that you weren't gonna study to your maximum. And that's gonna result in you getting a certain grade.
So whatever happens has already been planned, not just your grade, but your actions and how long you'll study etc.
It's not a very simple topic, so if you're interested in this stuff I suggest you seek knowledge about it.

Happiness's is attained when a person knows his/her purpose, and your purpose can only be found in the Quran. Honestly I don't have a complete answer I need to educate myself more on this topic, but from what I've researched so far I can kinda answer.
The core of the answer is tawakkul. Which is putting in the effort and relying on Allah. Your effort is not what gives you the results rather it is Allah who makes your effort give you results. To make this point make more sense ill tell you an example, when prophet musa AS struck the ground with his stick and the ocean split, it split because Allah made it split, it did not split solely based on the fact that prophet musa struck the ground.
Idk if this made sense, and I feel like I didn't fully answer your question, so when I know more about this topic myself I'll reply to you again with more details

what if someone is unable to take action and just sits lazily, is not this also written for him?
Think of it as a key and a lock, the lock is what was written for you, let's say money, and the key is ur effort.
If u don't get up and do the work, the key doesn't enter the lock and u don't get the money.

So, if that same person had worked extremely hard or his best the entire year. Would he earn nothing by the end of the year?
This is a paradox. Even the action is based on destiny. All the reasoning/motivation since the time immemorial is only to strengthen the belief of the heart as it loves perceiving what it loves. The actual truth is only with ALLAH. This is why, even logical skepticism has no weight against the truth.
