What's the cheapest scanner I can get to reprogram a used pcm for my 09? My ASD plug that goes into my tipm the ground wire was bare with loosely wrapped etape around it. Looked like it burnt at some time in the past. I got no CEL. Can just rolled to a stop. PRNDL stopped working. Had to use shift interlock to get it out of gear. Got a new ignition module and pcm and after popping a fuse a few times it decided to crank for the first time and run but die three seconds later. And for the the first time my scanner was able to communicate with the van. Said EGR circuit high. So I cleaned this very nasty carbon filled EGR tube and valve and when I put the EGR back on it decides once again that it will no longer crank again. Jumped the starter at the relay still works, so thinking maybe I need to program the pcm or ignition. Just bought the van for my wife and I'm stumped. I'm no electrical wiz like you.
will jumping the 87 pin to the 30 pin get it started ?like the starter relay trick will start your truck and get you home if the starter relay goes out ?
So im having similar problem. Turn the key nothing. Have everything power just no crank. .. no power unlock or panick. Fuses all good.. starter relay is good but i jumped the starter in the relay area like so many ppl do i think its pin 30 and 87 and just a spark. No crank ... hummm any ideas.
I would say it sounds like possibly the starter is no good or could possibly be the alternator locked up like we had on this van. Remove the serpentine belt and try to start it and that will likely tell you your answer.
I just want to thank you for this. It really helped out. So Apparently my alternator seized and somehow blowup the ASD section in the computer. Needed a whole new computer and the TIPM was perfectly fine. When i took off the pcm those seals looked dogged (Can you get new ones?). But for me it happened on a complety dry day, no rain. So I guess this begs the question did the PCM destroy the alternator or did the alternator destroy the pcm?
Good morning my friend and nice to meet you! Just wanted to ask you permission first. Is it okay if i can ask you for help? My vehicle (2003 DODGE CARAVAN SE) is giving me 3 codes (P1684), (P0201) and (P0420).
Hello, Those 3 codes are likely unrelated to each other. The P1684 is reporting that the TCM lost B+ voltage at some point. P0201 is reporting a problem with Injector #1. And a P0420 is a Catalytic Efficiency code indicating a problem likely either in the Exhaust or catalytic converter themselves or in the Oxygen Sensor feedback system. Without a wiring diagram and at least a test light as well as an understanding of automotive circuitry it will be very difficult to diagnose these codes properly.
If my memory serves me right I believe the ECM came in around $1500 CAD plus a month on back order. With the diagnosis and the cost of programming a Chrysler product these days I’d say it was around $2000 total. Plus the cost of the failed alternator that caused the whole issue to begin with.
@@raptorpromechanics1911 should i replace the alternator to keep this from happening again? I never really heard of failed alternators destroying pcm unless this is something unique to dodges
@@dantheman1998 This is the only time I have ran across this. Having said that Chrysler product PCM's are the weakest in the industry in my opinion. I fix more of them than any other brand.
Rather than continuity test.. I would have disconnected computer, and grounded the control wire on coil side of relay right at computer connector. From there, check for power on the load side of relay right at some computer connector. Would have saved time and load tested everything

You are so smart! I wish I could work in your shop.
Hey, I have a 2007 Chrysler 300. I have p0685, p0688 code. It turns over than shuts off.. I was hoping you could help me before buying parts...
Thanks
I got this issue. Im wondering if the TIPM also causes this same intermittten connection issue? and the computer is good?

@lanajacknichols8397 no the engine will not start jumping it. The ASD controls the injectors and coils. They won't fire and the engine will just turn.

I will try that but I'm not even getting a click but I will try that tomorrow
@@jimartzberger6889 did u fix it.. i have same issue.. new alternator. Fuel pump relay works. Battery is good. Im about to change the starter

Please do another video replacing the PCM on the dodge grand caravan 😊
Thanks for the help 🙂
Thank you

How much did this job cost the customer. I have an 2003 Dodge Ram 5.7 doing this.

Did you fixed or not
Yes the new PCM fixed this vehicle.
you sound kinda drunk
