💯 brother. I'm in luxury at work with 2 new Junair booths 😂. Spoilt bitch that I am 😊. You're totally right with all you said man. I generally set the booths at around 98 Fahrenheit but whenever I have a pearl blend (or a light silver/or even chunky metallic blend) I have the booth as cool as I can for the base and then wind it up for the clear.
When I paint at home, in the cold, I do exactly what you did there. Always have some Rocket (activator) dropped in the clear as well.
Great, simple to follow video mate. Awesome work as usual brother 💪😎.
CoCkOooo yes sir, see you can tell I've been around for a while man. I know a thing or two they think because ole Triggerman in this old booth I don't know nothing 😉 you can't make this stuff up. It's either you know it or you don't. Thanks for chiming in my man. Blessings ♥️
@@thetriggerman954 my man, you own he trade brother. You're better than me, no lie there. Keyboard warriors and Sata fairies be hating because they are too stuck in their own minds to be open to idea.
You're a blessing to the painting community brother 💪

Another 🔥 job Triggerman, I’m looking forward to spraying with my LPH 400💪🏾
Thanks champ 🏆 this was before Christmas. I'm backlogged 😭 but I think you'll like the LPH 🔥🔥

Good info there Triggerman you have there..I'm in Louisiana and it is about around that temperature but too much moisture so I don't want to take the chance of messing up..but your info is very helpful and knowledgeable..thanks a bunch..keep up with the class your giving to us beginners..been a master technician for 40 years and just starting to get into the automotive paint work..again you create some good contents and give great info..keep up the good work brother..enjoy all your videos!..👍 🤜
Thank you Eric I'm glad the videos are helping. You guys get high humidity over there as well huh? Probably even more from that I've heard. And I'll definitely keep them coming 🤜🏽🤛🏽
@@thetriggerman954 Yes very high man..even inside of the shop it's like roller skating because the ground is so full of moisture..so we have to be extremely careful not to pull any groin area..gonna hate that one..can't wait for your next class to atart..😂
Couple months ago was doin a job. Had it all based out, booth was running as normal. Mixed up my clear with slow hardener. Got back in booth. Heat out. Was 29 degrees in booth. Had 30oz of clear I couldn't dump. Was fun. My aircap had frost on it. No runs. Took a while to flash before second coat.
Holy shit You lucked up on that one man or maybe that was just skill 😉🥳
Muss be nice! I'm in Missouri. Winter SUCKS! I have to run the natural gas heat on full blast AND run a diesel salamander heater in the booth, and PRAY I stay above 60 degrees while I'm spraying! I did a video on using diesel heat, dispelling the myth of the salamander causing fisheyes, if you want to check that out. Also, i will definitely look into the accelerator you mentioned. Thank you!
I've heard that those cause fish eyes okay cool I'll check out your channel. 😎
Great video. this is where knowing the products your using helps out so much. and just experience. Also painting in cold weather can really test your patience. when you just want to get it done that paint will flash so slow.
Yes sir, all of the above 💪🏼 especially your patience 🥶
Shiney shiney ... turned out nice ... as far as cold weather ... up here we just got though a week of -20 to -35 chill factors for 2 weeks straight ... lets see you spray in that ... just kiddin ... nice job ...

Great advice. I wish we had weather like y'all do in Florida. I'm in MS and our weather is crazy. I'm glad to find someone else that is using AM-tech clear. I use it off and on. How are you liking it and have you good results with it holding up to the sun. I was using Finish 1, but I found on mostly darker color jobs, if the car stayed out in the sun a lot that it would start dulling out and breaking down. I had a Sherwin Williams rep say that Finish 1 doesn't hold up well to UV rays. Now, I kinda deal with Am-Tech, Debeer, and SPI. I tried Grant 7 before, but it doesn't work well for a production shop. I like Debeer but it's around $400 for a set up.
Thanks man, I actually like the clear, I've been spraying it here at the shop for 11 years now. Cars come back to the shop that I have sprayed well over 5 years ago and the paint still looks fresh in Florida heat so it does hold up If it didn't I would have easily requested for the owner to switch brands. He pretty much lets me make the decision on what we use here at the shop they were already using it when I got here and it works so I don't complain much.
@@thetriggerman954 that's good to hear. I know if it holds up in FL it will definitely hold up here. Which one are you using? The Am600 or 500? I've mainly been using the 600, haven't tried the 500.
Thanks Trigger I did not know about the accelerator good job
More than welcome. Thank you for watching 💪🏼
Hell yeah man, I always love spraying my base when it’s cold asF. Lays down BEA-UTIFULLY!!!!
Man you ain't never lied 🥶
I spray in -25 sometimes in the winter luckily I can get the booth up to 55ish at those outside temp. Have a homemade booth that’s cross draft. I just turn my pressure up to try and atomize that clear more.
-25 🥹🥶 geeesh man
@@thetriggerman954 I live in Washington by Idaho and Canada. Winter is usually really cold with feet of snow.
I live in Oklahoman so we get cold but my ideal temp to paint in is 60-65 and i use a medium reducer when i spray my clears i do a tack coat wait 20 minutes then apply my next coat i usually clear with a 1.2 or 1.3 tip
Sounds like a good game plan there. 🫡

can you make video about pros and cons of a satin clear paint job? i’m considering it for my 95 Civic to give it a OEM+ look.
You're still working on that civic man? So you want something like a matte finish? Or just not as shiny?
@@thetriggerman954 yeah the car is an ongoing project. Currently working on the suspension. Yes, a matte or eggshell finish instead of glass clear. Your thoughts?
@@HiFiInsider I wouldn't say that is an OEM look. When those cars first came from the factory they were gloss painted. I mean correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe not show car wet sand buffed to a high gloss finish but a decent off the gun base coat clear coat paint job I think would be great. Only denib and polish what's needed
@@thetriggerman954 correct, from the factory is glossy but I was thinking satin clear with original color base to give it a unique look of OEM and personalized (OEM+). Hope that makes sense. :) Perhaps you can share your thoughts on working with cars that has satin clear?
@@HiFiInsider I have not sprayed any cars like that. I personally am not a fan of anything other than nice shiny paint.
Hi Trigger hope you had a great Christmas party seeing as it's the end of January🤔😂
Some good advice there but mate what are you like 60F (16C) is a damn nice temp for us Brits I would still be using slow reducer in my base and fast hardener in my clear and I've never used any rocket🤓 it's been -7C (19F) in my booth first thing here for the past couple of weeks so I crank up the heating to get it to 16-18C (around 60-65F) then away we go💪🤠
At the end of the day it's just what your used to, I couldn't cope with some of those hot temps you have Trigg, sometimes it's 40C (110F) here in the UK but not to often thank god🥵if it is I just shut the booth and go home🤣👍
I hear that man shut down the booth and go home 🤣 and yes this video was before Christmas I'm back logged on videos. I have a few good ones waiting 😉
Us brits are wimps when the weather gets to hot🤠😁😂
Good job Trigger
Thank you Chuck 💪🏼
Spraying in cold weather...this is what i found out. Michigan cold, not Florida cold(which we call WARM) 😂😂fast dry clear and put that te 20 cap away until spring. I need thinner coats of fast drying clear...or suffer the consequences! I guess I could turn the fluid way down on the te 20, but the 110 greatly reduces my chance of the clear running right down the panel🥴 yeah. Had some good ones on that last job. Current job, smooth.
Still staying faithful to that Peolite for clear. The way you know your clear by usung the same clear...I figure that can translate to using the same gun every time for predictable results
Facts. Only thing I do different is I still use the TE20 I just go down to a 1.3 instead of the 1.4 but your way works just as well. Same destination just a different route.
Glass 👍 great work.
Thank you sir 💪🏼
62° 😂.. I painted in an unheated garage at 0 degrees, or less, outside, maybe negative 10.. All I had was a diesel forced air torpedo heater in the mechanic shop. Id run it to get it up to about 45. Shut it down wait 10-15 minutes for the air to settle, then spray, wait 5 minutes to flash off some before blowing a box fan out under the garage door, with cardboard to block off the rest of the bottom under the door; to get vacuum. After paint fumes dispersed turn on the heater again, with the intake just outside under the door so its pulling fresh air & not explosive fumes.. Fun times, doing body work at 38 degrees between running the heater on and off because you cant let it run too long due to fumes. Have to let fresh air in which at the same times makes it cold again.. Start over. One night i finally finished the clear at 4:00 am on my daily driver. What a struggle.
I did a whole door off the car that night, turned out great. 426 silver metallic, looked great. I didnt paint the original oem handle & when installed you couldnt tell the difference. The biggest problem is the paint is so cold when spraying you have to heat it up..
😅 hey man the same rules apply if it's 0 degree's. There are some guys that have no idea so this is for them. Not you veterans Alaska painters 😜🥶
Nice videos TriggerMan! I’m new to your channel. I’m gonna paint a couple of cars soon but trying to get an understanding of the whole process. I have a question. If I want to paint over a car that has single stage paint on it already, but use the same color but base and clear, do I just need to scuff it then paint or is there more I need to do?
Thank you Michael and welcome to the channel. Yes you will need to sand the car down. Not "scuff" maybe 320 or 400. It might be a good idea to seal the car before painting. Sometimes you will get a reaction when putting base over single stage. Especially if you are new at this so a few extra bucks and an extra 20 minutes will save you a from a possible huge headache.
Thank you brother. 20 minutes ain’t bad.
@@michaelcampbell8927 any time. Feel free to ask anything during the process. I usually get back to you guys fairly quick 💪🏼
Good tips and nice job, as always. 👍 You ain't lying about a few drops of accelerator. Once a cup turns to jello in the gun, you will forever respect that stuff - if you have any sense, that is. Ask me how I learned that lesson the hard way once upon a time. LOL 😁😆😂🤣
Yoooo bEaChCiTyMObiLe yea man that stuff is like jet fuel for paint. I've learned the hard way as well 🫠💪🏼
Maaaan you had the hammer down on this one. I do wanna ask do you ever let the trigger go when you spraying?
Thank you 3rekoats, I never really fully release the trigger I ease off of it to like that first position where you pull the trigger halfway and only air comes out That's pretty much the furthest I would come off the trigger. 💪🏼
🔥🔥🔥 man that’s one thing I like some what about painting in the cold them jobs be slick but it’s a double edge sword too them jobs be slick but if not careful it will be to slick and run and I kinda laugh a bit when you said that 62 degrees is cold 😂 but I know better too that wind is sharp probably there

Is paint rocket the only accelerator? Nobody covers accelerator because let’s face it most new guys would mess their gun up. I know very little about it. I used this weird 5 minute clear from sherwin once that’s about it.
There are a few different brands. You'd have to research it. And I don't know what anyone else covers but I cover everything that I use, always have and always will.

Hey bro, how do you avoid Orange Peel?
Orange peel? What is this you speak of? 🤔😄😄😄
Gun settings and technique. Most importantly I've been spraying the same clear for 11 years now and just like anything the more time you use it the more familiar you get with it. If I went to a new shop today I would tell the owner to give me a week or so to get use to the materials. So it's basically find a good product you like and get to know that material. Seems like people now days chase spray guns instead of learning their material. Which is 100% incorrect
@@thetriggerman954 Thanks for the replay and advice mate. I'm not in Spry Painting business, just a DIY that is trying to spray paint my own car for less then what the car is worth, it's my first go at it and most likely the last. I don't have the luxury of experience and getting conflicting information on RUclips which in turn is messing up my clear coat job. Perhaps Australian 2K clear coat are not of a similar make up as American. No idea but i'll keep trying different combinations until i get a reasonable result although i'm starting to question my decision as it's not only starting to get bit expensive for my wallet but nerves as well. :)
@@georgemarijanovich What is some of the conflicting information you're getting? What part has you confused?
@@thetriggerman954 Like, what type of gun to use, how to spry paint over old paint, how many clear coats to apply, specially if you got Orange Peel and at how many psi. I used LVLP at 20 - 25 psi at my first attempt and managed to stuff up the job and a gun. On my second attempt i only had HVLP gun, sprayed 2 coats of paint and quickly sprayed in a zig-zag pattern to spread out the Metallic at 30 psi, the paint job came out pretty good. Clear Coat i used the same gun at same psi, sprayed 2 light coats and one heavy coat, only ended up with couple little runs and stuffed up half a passenger door. Strangely i could see my reflection pretty clearly with bit of orange peel that i can live with. Haven't seen the car for couple of days now but hope my masterpiece won't change much, will find out in the morning. Do you think i should wait a month or 2 before buffing and polishing? Cheers mate.

Man if I watch that I might catch a cold 🥶 😭
Might be freezing to you.. but thats not cold for the paint
It is cold for the paint if you don't use the correct materials. That's why there's cold temperature materials and there's hot temperature materials. That's why you're reducers and activators have recommended temperatures on them. You picked the wrong channel if you're trying to be a smart-ass.
