- We got our FIRST LOOK at the upcoming Wave 3 of Transformers Legacy United with Legacy United Deluxe Class Robots In Disguise Sideburn. A retool / partial of Legacy Evolution Deluxe Class Shadow Striker with a nice nod to his 2000 - 2001 Transformers Car Robots / Robots In Disguise origins!

Got the original Shadow Striker and Roulette years ago and I’m fine with those.
Hopefully they'll make his brothers, especially Prowl/Machalert. Who knows maybe they'll pull a Metal hawk on us and retool Pointblank into Prowl. Makes me wonder how there gonna do a Wildride/X-Brawn.
I wonder if they'll do any other RID 2001 characters: core class Spy-Changers anybody? The Predacon trio of Gas Skunk, Darkscream, and Slapper (who'll be renamed to Gusher/because in the UK slapper/randy/slag all basically mean slut/whore/or a very promiscuous woman).
Maybe budget problems could be solved by making deluxe 3 per case + 1 reissue.
Hoping for a RiD Landfill
It's not gonna happen, then again I said the same thing about Optimus getting a Haslab and a Lego Collaborative happening so who knows. Chances are our first combiners from Car Robots would probably be Baldigus given that he's just a repaint of the Combaticons

RID 2001 needs a dvd set.
It does, it was sold only in the UK however and is the only box set to be released due to the series being owned by Disney
@@Windcharger84 A U.S. Dvd set. Fox kids shows have been coming to dvd for years.
@@lawsonallen7741 The ownership rights for RID 2001 have been a mess for years. Saban owned it at one point and then sold it. The rights have changed hands enough times now that I don't think anyone is certain who owns the series and has the legal right to make the DVDs. I think the rights have actually been split between multiple companies at this point, and none of them own enough to put out an actual product. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney was one of those partial owners either, but I've given up keeping track of that tangled web of legal ownership.

@@lawsonallen7741 I said Saban HAD the rights and sold it. After doing a bit of research since my last post, Disney does appear to be the primary owner, but they don't own the rights to Transformers in general and have no incentive to release a DVD for IP they don't own. Likewise, Hasbro can't put out a DVD without permission from / royalties paid to Disney. Heck, Disney hasn't released a bunch of their own series on DVD. Even if they could give RID a physical release, why would they put it out on DVD before the Mandalorian?
Disney is the kind of company that shuts down profitable projects simply because they aren't profitable ENOUGH. They aren't willing to see a relatively mild profit from a series like RID 2001.
Ok you have a good point, you changed my opinion about the figure. But I think Hasbro could have tried a little harder... painting flames on the hood.
Eugh, they didn't even bother retooling the vehicle mode. This makes Shadow Striker's compromises even more baffling. Even if I wasn't already planning to skip him, I would do it out of spite.

I hope we get a new RID 2001 Prowl eventually. Of the original Autobot Brothers toys, his is the one the holds up the least due to the clear plastic on his doors cracking / breaking up against a ball joint.
As someone who still owns their original RID 2001 Sideburn, this new one doesn't look that great to me. I know Hasbro doesn't have the rights to make a dodge viper, but it at least needs to look like an Earth-styled sports car of some kind. I also felt burned by the Shadow Striker version of the mold. I still wanted to give the engineering a fair shot, but no matter what I do, the car roof on my copy refuses to fully clip in place and is always skewed. Maybe I was just unlucky with my copy, but it still left a bad impression.
I think It looks pretty good, always really liked RID 2001 as a kid so hopefully we'll get the other two Car Brothers. I'm curious to see Hotshot, hopefully he's great like Starscream 👍.
This thing isn't gonna sell well enough to repaint again.
I wish they would have remolded the front end to resemble the Viper. I am skipping this because it doesn't look anything like a Viper.
This would already be a hard sell when I have the oriiginal sitting on my shelf, but the lack of white outlines on the flames to make them stand out from the only slightly darker plastic sinks it. Easy pass.
if I couldnt get the original then this would be definitely okay, good thing I have a couple of the original version to give my kids.
That's really sad. Both Shadowstriker and Sideburn turned out to be rather shitty. Would it kill designers to copy old toy?
Shadow striker deserved better
I know the figure was meant to homage the original shadow striker and cyberverse designs but it just looks bad.
Cyberverse shadow striker needs a new figure that resembles her cyberverse ( best) design.
To be honest, you could just get the original toy. There extremely cheap and easy to find and has more articulation than what this toy has and is more accurate.
@@waynesoon0101 The Studio Series bayformer "Hot Rod" toy makes a great Shadow Striker in purple, and doesn't even need a head remold to do it, just painting the two almond shaped divots in the brow of the head and the central gem red to be her extra optics. You can even do the mismatched body part colors for a lot of it as the limbs almost completely hide away in car mode.
I made the mistake of using shitty Testors turquoise for her pale blue parts (Never again! Jacquard Neopaque or Lumiere from now on! The Lumiere voilet was awesome on her, espescially the car mode) so it didn't come out near as well as I'd hoped when I tried it, but the bigger problem was the arms being pinned into the clear plastic of the windshield/roof part, and the tolerances on the parts being too tight so instead of rotating on the pins the pins were spinning in their sockets and grinding themselves loose every time I moved that joint. They've done a remold of BB Arcee as part of that sniper duel two-pack, but with a licensed car mode that might not be so easy, especially with a villain character.

It is extremely inaccurate but if you wish for accuracy you could just get the original toy, there easy to find on the aftermarket

O k but what about all of the earth rise vehicles? They weren't licensed vehicles but they looked a lot closer Than this... Plus it doesn't have to look like a dodge viper and still it could look a lot better than what we got.

I looked at the vehicles and with comparisons it is worse than I thought. I knew the new mold for Car Mode is going to be fat but there is hardly any similarities between the two molds.
Robot Mode is amazing and spot on. The car mode not so much. I wonder if the Haslab has similar car proportions for Ultra Magnus so you can use the old Car Robots line to fill in?
I will say, i wish he and towline had their license plates.
I have the original but I'll definitely pick this up as well. Easier transfomation, no back kibble and far less fragile than the 23-24 year old version.
I'll hope for Roulette, but not before 2025 and likely for amazon or worst Wallmart.
I just like the character, I’m not ultra picky like some fans. I would prefer his brothers as opposed to more repaints so soon
Hmm, I got nothing on any figures that could be retooled into Prowl2 and X-Brawn.
At least he can hang with Tow-Line for now.

This is just a case of bad photography, because if you look close enough, you can see that Sideburn does in fact have the flame deco on his hood.

They could have done a way better job on the alt mode.
WFC and Legacy has had no issues making different-enough-for-copyright alt modes for years now.
Forget the Viper.
At least make a BELIEVABLE alt mode.
I didn’t expect the altmode to be licensed, but it just doesn’t look like an appealing altmode at all. I really wish they could’ve cooked up something better because I like the transformation on this mold
Hasbro's coming out with so many great figures this year, on the original sideburn because I love those toys (but constantly maintaining there tires) it wasn't for the fact that I'm already buying a lot of it and I had the original I would definitely picked this one up, this seems like it's very playable I wonder if you could take that bumper and plug it on to the arm to kind of mimic the original design more
Bot mode looks fantastic, Car mode is very disapointing. Deco and front of the car is just not right. Really should have rounded the front of the car to resemble to original while still being generic. Still thinking about it, they should make a cheaper release for the RID Optimus and Ultra Magnus. Maybe sell them seperate and less paint just so its not locked away in Haslab. IDK
I own the original (imported from Japan), and definitely plan on buying the new version. Now the question is how far down the rabbit will they go? Do we get an X Braun and Prowl or is this pretty much it? I heard Skybite and Megatron were mentioned but I would like to see the initial 3 car robots release as well.
No, quit making excuses for this mold. It can't look exactly like a Dodge Viper, right, okay. This doesn't even look like a real car. The rear wheels are too far back, and the front end is a brick. The roof of the car is clearly gappy too, and the transformation is bad. This never should have left the concept stage.

The brothers are missing which is X-Brawn and Prowl from the RID 2001 Universe.
