@@War624 Actually they could (change the script) lol. I mean fan modders do it ALL THE TIME with modded Final Fantasy games of the NES and SNES era. Especially when some of those earlier releases had shoddy localizations.
And in actuality, some of the lines in this game HAVE been changed. Some for the better, some for the worse depending on your opinion; while some of the awful lines of the original have oddly stayed intact (again, depending on your opinion).

@@azazel7505 They changed the buster sword to fit the new style from FF7 Remake, but they video itself still looks like a bad upscale from the original. When they still have the original project file, then why not re-render it properly in 4k? Seems weird.

Oh man, they gave the Mug ability SUCH a satisfying feel, I'm just MUGGING things to DEATH. Since it's an ability finisher, i get the AP back even.
I was wondering how they'd deal with Mug in modern day. Now I know what it'll be like in Rebirth

@@michaelh2282 i enjoyed Zacks new VA. He sounds more endearing to me in this version. Its funny.. you cant even mention anything remotely positive about his new voice over without someone on the internet telling you why you shouldn't like it.

Walk along the sides (stick to the walls) of the larger area/rooms if you don't want to encounter random fights. That's a trick I've learned.

Soldier second class combat feels good. When you get to first class, you actually feel like a first class soldier with all the crazy stuff now accessible.
I definitely overpowered myself doing so many side missions early on Max is hard moding this stuff. Yuffie's stuff getting voice acted is a real step up the guilt trip on that first side mission was real. I believe Zack will somehow find his way to the main party in Rebirth, He could be the protective big bro figure Yuffie doesn't realize she needs yet after pushing Sonon away.
Same did alot of side missions, game turned super easy I was one shoting alot of things

I hope they just pull the carpet out from it and sike kill him in the first 5 minutes to keep the.timeline. I think rewriting the story is lame af

Square-Enix is gonna be consistently working with the cast they are building for the remakes.
So dont worry or think about who's being changed out in the cast. Remasters and future games will use the IIV Remake cast.
I do prefer the old zach but I don't think this new one is that bad I think people are being very harsh about him.
His voice is alright for younger Zack, but it just doesn’t work for when he matures as 1st. He’s alright, but the original was better
New Zack sounds pretty good sometimes. But other times when he's talking and is supposed to have some emotion in his voice....he just sounds flat. It's hard to explain it, but there's a 'whine' to his delivery. I have hopes he'll sound better in Rebirth where he won't have to read lines from a PSP game and has had some practice with Reunion.
He is nasal AF. Even if the direction were to be improved, his voice is just not fit for a main role.
Its just nostalgia goggles.

I wish they would had written "2 years later" or something close to that between events. Gaps of time do pass. It is just difficult to determine how much.
Somehow the way Zack gets promoted and his personality is incredible I now understand why he was so important in Final Fantasy 7 remake granted...if it wasn't for Max I probably wouldn't understand how incredible this game is in the first place.
Still playing this on hard mode watching it from this perspective is amazing!

Can't say I have all that much nostalgia for the original. I remember going into it thinking we'd get a lot more depth on the backstory of Shinra, SOLDIER, and Sephiroth. Instead, we learned almost nothing of note and got a J-pop villain who spouted bad poetry that even an edgy 13 year-old would find embarrassing. It wasn't a bad game, but it was definitely disappointing.
The ending was well done though and hit me in the feels.
I mean I don't agree with your total assessment, other than the fact that Genesis was always lame and the remaster didn't change that lol

As someone who despised the combat of the original, I must say that just the one tweak with how you use spells and abilities has improved it so drastically that it is almost like a whole new game! This was very much worth the price tag based upon the improvement to the gameplay alone.
The combat is so fast and the battles and missions are done so quickly it makes it very addictive. It has that "just one more" quality that made me accidentally grind out missions until I had 99,999 health and 255 attack way too early in the game. I was one shotting bosses like they were early game mobs. Still enjoyed it a bunch though

Idk if Max already knew but if you run along the side of the walls and edges of the area you'll bypass the fights they get boring when you one shot them lol

One thing I miss in games (especially KH) is that the enemies will heal if you use their magic type on them. Alot of games apply chip damage, but it feels natural for them to absorb the element to heal. Hell of minor, but this game reminded me of that.

The fact that it moves on to the track, _"The Burdened"_ that starts at 2:38:30 is one that hits me even harder, while carrying those same nostalgic emotions.
Back when I first played _Crisis Core_ 15 years ago, THAT theme became associated with the first real moment of having Aerith back - while also being aware of both her _and_ Zack's ultimate fates. It's a sort of evolved theme and the most poignant one in the game for me.
There's something about the beauty & fragility that the track evokes and the fact that it ends by slowing to a pause with a final note in the sequence that never plays before it loops again that just… gives that feeling of never quite being able to say everything you want to or spend all the time with someone that you wanted to before they're gone - which is perfectly reprentative of both of them.
Crisis Core has SUCH good music.

2 things I noticed with this game is that in the missions, if you just hug the walls as you make your way through; you'll skip random encounters 99% of the time. Also, attacking from behind is a 100% critical all the time, every time.
Oh i somehow missed Angeal telling Genesis "you will destroy this place" instead of "you will destroy us all." I feel the Reunion line makes more sense considering Genesis doesn't have the firepower to beat Sephiroth
In the original japanese version Angeal always says "you'll destroy the building" when they are fighting Sephiroth. So the Reunion kinda brings it more in line to the japanese version, but at the same time there are some lines that so wildly off. For example in that same fight when Angeal is deadlocked against Sephiroth, instead of saying "Ha, is that the best you can do." implying somewhat that Angeal far weaker than him. In japanese Sephiroth basically says "So, how about putting away the toy sword." implying hey comeon man bring out the real stuff.
@@kingdomkey92 yeah i knew about the deadlock with Angeal japanese line saying that. In the dub i always took it as "thats the best you can do with that sword" because Sephiroth out of them all would know how strong angeal is with the buster sword
The best thing about this is how they were finally able to make Shinra HQ have very distinct and vibrant teal/aqua lighting that contrasts with the blacks and other neon lights.
I remember OG Crisis Core being so f*ckin bland because they couldn't replicate FF7's pre-rendered environments

Max excited to fight odin only to find a hungry was hilarious,same thing happened to me when I fought it,I was like "is it so hard to just take assets from type-0 or something? Like that game has a playable odin,just modify it a bit and put it in this one"
17:08 I completed it a couple of days back and thought the same thing, seeing enemies and places that we will see in Rebirth.
i didnt expect to really enjoy this remaster a lot! the big change in its combat really gives such better quality to the game. but the writing and dialogue of this game definitely aged when comparing the FF7 remake. at least this game is much preserved in a better state than it was before.

At the end of the video, when you get rid of status ward for elemental ward even though I think elemental ward has much more use cases, in chapter 5/6, I ran across enemies in the mission section that cast “death” and the only way I could figure out how to get past that part / negate instant death was to put the materia combo death/status ward on…I hope you’re able to figure out another way!!

The VA for Hojo is actually friggen perfect.
In Final Fantasy 9 Phoenix Pinion works as an auto revive for any character that has one equipped.
For as much as I love 7 Remakes writing (Its so good it made me pursue a VA career and really fall in love with FF) I still adore the old stuff. Crisis Core, 10, 9, 7 OG is hilarious, because the dialog is so stunted sometimes

Those flying guns had a lifting movement a second before they raise there guns so you know when they are going to shoot

Played the OG for a bit, the combat honestly feels like low budget Kingdom Hearts. This seems massively improved, even just adding camera control is a big quality of life improvement.
@@FakeHeroFang Its not that it was low budget, its that it was more... Grounded? It was less floaty and fantastical (somehow) so the combat was trying to match the setting.
That status ward fuse.. ouch. Just wait until the enemies spam death on you mid game when u want to like, farm darkness to up ur HP to max… ur gonna miss it :) SW+hell materia = deathproof
I've played 30 hours, and I haven't finished missions yet. But I did beat the game once. I forgot I lost my mission progress when going NG+. But it's okay, I love this game so much, the gameplay feels great !
Best playthrough of crisis core reunion, Max is entertaining. This game was prety good i liked the second half lot better. An 8/10 for me
I wonder what sort of insane grinding or exploits folks used to get 999 of a materia at a rate that the warning was added seeing as though most quests seem to just give them one at a time.

I'm playing on hard and the first few hours were really difficult but once I got Hell Firaga, it suddenly got a whole lot easier.
I need all the FF7 remade. I never got to play Crisis Core, Chrono Trigger and Cross ect. I never knew about Zack. But FF7 is a core memory for me. I loved it so much. I need everything remade in modern tech so I can see everything!! Get on it Max! I'm counting on you!!!
I think my favorite parts watching this playthrough are #1 Max's love and appreciation for the rebuilt combat system, #2 Max's disgust of Genesis.

the "ill be waiting" stuff from loveless is almost identical the opening text from ff8's intro,dont know why i noticed that. seeing as this is 7 lol
back when this came out on psp I ended up just skipping the ;missions and missing out on the endgame content cause the combat wasn't *bad* just stale. by the time I got near the end of the game I just didn't care about doing more fights and stopped bothering with them. this time I'm looking forward to completing them all!

I legit cried when you melted the status ward after you'd been using dark blizzard cause it blocks all the status effects caused by hell/ dark spells >.

Ive been seeing so many people complain about Zacks voice, but i dont think its that bad honestly. The thing is its not really his fault. I love the game but for me at least, the voice acting was never really good to begin with. Alot of the lines in the original game are very cringy and corny. If thats what they have to emulate, no amount of good voice acting is really gonna improve that. Theres only so much the voice actors can really do and i think theyre doing fine honestly.

Just beat Crisis Core Reunion and am replaying FF7 classic. The context from CCR while playing FF7 is wild, like aerith using a date as payment with cloud, just like Zack did with her, or her mom asking Cloud to leave so Aerith doesn’t get her heart broken again. Now they’re sitting on the slide talking about her “old boyfriend”, which is frickin sad. Even Cloud’s flashback of Tifa hating shinra or them sitting on the water tower I found the materia in in CCR is just cool AH.
You do know this was made after and all of that was made copy paste to feel opposite as in elevate Aerith and Cloud lol. Guessing you have the weirdest take ever at this point
@@jackjohn4156 lol right? I beat FF7 classic years ago when it came out but don’t remember much. Never played the spin offs but I did watch Advent. Tried remake at launch but never got further than the air buster. It’s a bizarre revisit, for sure, but I’m playing both Classic and Remake now with CCR context and it’s a blast.
@@gamermoke Yeah i don’t think CCR story helped elevate the story lol. I would rather forget Genesis ever existing… Plus would have loved that the interaction between Cloud and Aerith be not replicated as it gave some people the wrong ideas about Cloud and Aerith in a lot of cases. The developers ofcourse said it was to elevate their interaction more but you know how people like to misinterpret things lol

Sephiroth is the one winged angel but he has a white wing (in if ff7 at least) but both in ac and beginning of remake his return is always shown with a black feather (which I completely forgot was what g had)
Anyone brought up a theory on it already? Could explain why we needed to see this game as they are part of his return

If you want to avoid combat on missions just run along the edges of the map. Works 95% of the time.

@@phantombigboss8429 I think I'm up for giving it another go, but I made the mistake of trying to play it right after finishing 7R thinking it would fill that gap but it didn't quite manage it. Seems like there is a lot of cool stuff you can do and I had fun exploring the area I started in but it seems like the early game story content takes a while to really get going. Think I also made the mistake of getting too caught up in side missions when apparently there isn't much point in doing them till later on, so when I pick it up again will just follow the main quest (and go fishing)
