- The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Iranian women's rights campaigner Narges Mohammadi.
She is deputy head of the Defenders of Human Rights Center, which was founded by fellow Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi.
Mohammadi has received several jail sentences since 2011 and is currently being held in Tehran's notorious Evin prison for "spreading propaganda".
The committee said she received the prize for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her efforts for promoting human rights and freedom for all.

This is the most politically influenced award, obama got it. I wonder when some Palestinians protester jailed by Israel will get this award from these hypocrites that are so concerned about "Human Rights" in middle-east. While they imprison Middle-Easterns in Abu Gharib and Gauntanamo.
This award should be renamed "make way for colonialism" award, and Nobel should disassociate itself from it for sake of it's reputation.

Sadly both Israel and Hezbolah chose to not go down the path of peace any further, and innocent people on both sides are the victim. (I do agree Israel bears the biggest responsibility as they hold the economic cards, but by no means is it as black or white as in the case of Iran

Why Ahed Tamimi didn't get this award for her fight against brutal aparthied of Israel which is recognised by UN, HRW, Amnesty International, BTSelem and almost every single human rights organisation. She has also faced jail time several times for her fight for Palestinians freedom.
What about countless Palestinian revolutionaries who have done hunger strike in Israeli prison over unlawful detention by Israeli army?
Some of them not ate anything over 70 days.

@@blackpanthar906 the problem is, that awarding this price is also choosing sides in a conflict that has victims on both sides. At the time awarding the price to both leaders had the effect of promoting peace in a neutral way. The way you propose it will also validate those who do the bombing from Palestinian side. Trust me, everyone wants a breakthrough in the Palestinian conflict but as long as both sides keep throwing bombs to each other no award can be given. Now, if Hezbollah would recognise Israel’s right to exist, (a selfless offer) then an award would be warranted. you can say that Israel would need to respond in kind. Right now, Israel uses the Palestinian call for extermination of Israel as an excuse to keep the terror going, Palestinians need to take that Israeli excuse of the table. (I have no sympathy for the Israeli terror and colonialism of occupied Palestinian territory whatsoever)
