MISSING AUDIO: "...so it will be safer with regards to food and water. I'll keep thinking while I eat this delicious food, and try and work out what to do...make a proper decision."
This amount of food, and especially the water (carried 23L) was the reason why I have used the Extrawheel trailer for my two most remote outback tours. Also on these tours we carried a solid-foam matt each as well as our Exped Matts. The solid matt was to go underneath the tent-floor any time we were not confident the ground was not clear of bindiis. Only used a few times but invaluable at those times, saving our air matts.
That's a good idea with the mats, considering how light-weight solid foam ones can be. I ended up swapping the Exped for a Thermarest Z Lite and got used to just using that.
Just listened to your a podcast you did. You certainly kept going. Geez epic journey. Know it's alot of work to film like you did but pity for us vicarious bike travellers that you didn't keep making the films ! Great work. Epic journey.
Thanks Joe. I did keep making them actually. It's just really hard to find the time to edit them. Each one is nearly a week of work. But keep an eye out. More coming out soon. I filmed all the way to France. Thanks for watching!
Thanks!! Ah I was trying to balance things out...not everyone wants to hear about wildlife, so I don't want to inundate a video with too much information.
I never had a DSLR to begin with, so didn't have any baseline skills to add to. I could therefore easily consider anything. After a whole bunch of reading I decided a dedicated video camera would be best - I wasn't experienced with cameras at all, so the simpler the better; it would do just what I needed it to do; and overall it is smaller. The one I chose had positive reviews and didn't break the bank.
Do you shave your face daily? If so how do you it when it comes to water? That's one of the two things that first come to mind when I think of going travelling minimalistcally and remote, the other being freaken laundry!
Nope, I wasn't shaving (I just don't grow much). And what's laundry?! I just wear the same stuff nearly every day - merino tops are amazing in keeping relatively fresh day after day; drinking and sweating lots seems to keep my system flushed out and I don't really accumulate excessive odour; and I generally have no one around I have to smell nice for anyway.

Seam grip is good stuff. Be on the lookout for tenacious tape if you don't have some already. I highly recommend it. Cheers!
Tenacious tape?! Never seen/heard of it before. Looks pretty good though, I'll definitely keep an eye out for it. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks Jeff!

Just love hearing about and seeing your interesting journey. Fascinating to say the least!!
Thanks Coralie! Hearing such things makes it much easier to put in the time and effort required 😊
i absolutely love your videos, mate !
why not explain more about wildlife since you graduated in Biological science?
Thanks!! Ah I was trying to balance things out...not everyone wants to hear about wildlife, so I don't want to inundate a video with too much information.
Forgot to ask in previous comment, but what made you opt for using a camcorder for video as opposed to a DSLR?

Or as opposed to the much more compact GoPro Hero9 (or now 10) with a compact digital cam for backup video and stills?
nice

Budgie Escapee Cheers for the merino tip, friends actually travelling to Peru so will pass it on!
Hahaha. Ditched the scraping of the face with blades about 5 years ago. Saves much time and water.
