This is so natural and raw, and Me and my family love every second of the vlog. The Burmese people are so beautifully pure and innocent, and of course, they love to welcome not just a foreigner but other ethnicity of their own people to their home too. Thank you for sharing this with us. Much love! Subscribed!! ❤
❤❤❤ amazing video in Myanmar
hey i am from myanmar i like you
Our country and ours Karen people ❤❤
The Karen shirt looks good on you!! 🎉 always love seeing other people wearing our Karen traditional clothing. Have a safe trip! Thank you for sharing your experience with us! 💪🏻
It was so special! I have the shirt and longyi at home now and will cherish it forever.
It is actually not "short bread" that is cultivated from toddy palm (found in SE Asia) tree the sugar similar to Jaggery Sugar and turned into a type of sugary confectionery similar like Asian "chocolates" but in Myanmar (Ter Nyet). Hope you enjoyed it :) ❤
Ooh thanks! That's great to know. Was doing my best to piece it together 😅 It was delicious.
You can pronounce the Mon State capital as "Maw - la- meen" ?(Moulmein) that was the "Anglo-cised" British Colonial name back when Myanmar (Burma) was a former British Colony, if you find "Mawlamyine" difficult to pronounce. I hope you keep safe on your journey and take care! Thank you for visiting Myanmar despite the fact currently our country is currently in total devastation (civil war) and on the brink of collapse. 😊😇😃
Thanks. I'd prefer to call it Mawlamyine...I just struggled a bit in the video because I was getting so tired...it was a BIG day 😅 It is horrible knowing the country I saw and people I met are suffering so much again. I hope there will be a resolution soon.
@BudgieEscapee Thank you for your visit and your attempt at pronouncing it the original way :) . I agree and hope that we have a solution soon 🙏🏾.
Welcome from Myanmar bro. Have a great trip and stay safe
Thank you 😁
Damnnnn, the video is really underrated. You should get more viewers. Bro, I cannot stop smiling throughout the whole video. Thanks for coming to Myanmar, and keep up the good job. Now I am a 18 year old girl, pursuing my university, and of course, if I have a chance, I would like to make videos like this. I am really inspired by you, Mark. :)
That's the kind of message that makes the effort feel totally worth it 😊 Thanks for sharing. Good luck with your studies and adventure-seeking!
Hi Mark, your video are still attracting attention, and thanks for posting. We rode Sydney to Paris in the mid 90', and now 60yo, I will be riding Timor to lombok then the Stans and Mongolia in 2025.. Very practical question: where did you find metho in Dilli and in the Stans? Thanks, Fabrice in Canberra
Take care bro
You deserves follow man
Dahninthee part, It got me:3 Even in local, some don't like that roasted fruit coz of smell
🤣 Was so funny getting that translation done. I didn't mind it 😁
i think cycling is the best way of travel..its not only makes you healthy but at the same time keep the environment clean by not using a gas..its probably cost very little but still required a very serious precautions..cheers !
Yeah it is very liberating and immersive. If you have food and water you can basically go anywhere. And experiencing every metre along the way (and not rushing past looking through a window) is amazing.
Amazing hero, around the world 🌎 🌍 🌍 🌍 🌍 🌍 🌍 🌍 🌍! 💪 👍👏👏🎉👏🎉🎉👏👏👏👏👏👏
Mingalar par....
Where are you at bro? Do you have a plan to go to Yangon, Mandalay?
I went to Yangon. Then I started riding north...but it was on the way to Hinthada that I had the knee problem. I returned to Yangon and stayed there until my knee healed. So I actually didn't see much of Myanmar overall. I can't wait to return to see more.
@ sure bro you have to. But careful there. There are a civil war in some places. If i am in Yangon i definitely help you, explain to you.
Mingalarbar bro 🙏 Be Safe travel 🚲
Hello 😉 Thank you!

be careful bro, The situation in myanmar is pretty bad right now. Civil war going on in myanmar. use google translate to communicate

Welcome to Myanmar 😊
Now civil war in myanmar.... Be careful Bro...

I like watching cycling vlog. May I say you alittle. Your camera is very shaking. It is very dizzy for me. It is inconvenient to watch. You should turn your camera more view site than your face. We who like travelling vlog want to know regional knowledge about real name, more watch site seeing beautiful scenery. Thank you for visiting our country and sharing . We all Myanmar people are the most hospitality. It may be inconvenient for you. Don't think it's very rude for you. May I request to know about our behavior friendship. Be safe trip, healthy and happy.
Thanks for the advice! I found nearly everyone welcoming and friendly. A couple of negative I interactions, but you get that everythere. Overall I absolutely loved Myanmar and l look forward to returning.
It is amazing how welcoming and friendly people are as you travel from place to place. I am American. We could learn a lot about treating everyone we meet as fellow human beings from these people. Thank you for sharing. I hope your leg heals quickly!
Absolutely! So much capacity for kindness everywhere. Just got to learn to share it more with those closer to home.
❤❤❤
very much enjoyed the personal feel of the camera, as if i'm just quietly listening in to conversation in the same room. They're all so worried about you, so cute.
Yeah it was really fun getting it translated and understanding the concern. So friendly and caring!
Thank you for visiting Myanmar.
I loved it there 💚 Beautiful place and beautiful people. I look forward to returning one day.
wellcome to myanmar
Take care brother as unexpected things can happen. I wish you a safe and sound travel. Subscribed!!
Yes, it's definitely important to try and make safe choices along the way. Thanks!
Fantastic content Mark , Thank you for coming to Myanmar and stay safe out there.
@@yogiBumBum Thank you 😄
how did bro cycled to kyithtiyoo
@@shinthanthpone5183 I woke up very early and rode up while it was dark, before anyone was awake (except for the monks walking up the mountain), so there was no one around at the barricades. But if you're asking how because it's a big mountain: slowly and with a bit of pain 😅
@@BudgieEscapee dayum u rlly are built different👏
yoo im one of the few early people before this goes viral come to yangon if u can :)
Welcome back
Haha thanks... it's been a while..
@@BudgieEscapee Nowadays you should not go anywhere like this, Every place in Myanmar is threatening wars, it's not safe anywhere, even though Myanmar and it's people are beautiful, most of tourists avoid there, it might be a tourist attraction place if the crisis not happened , warmly Welcome back if the wars over, Pray for Myanmar
Mate, what an epic trip. Are there any updates on where you are now? I'm on a similar tour, but only early days. Would love to hear and see more!
Thanks Tim. I've finally edited the rest of my videos, so they'll be getting posted soon. Also just started telling the story via IG reels. I rode across Asia and Europe to France. Right now I'm home in Perth saving up for more. Should be hitting the road again next year. Where are you from/riding?
Nice work, that's the dream for me. I'm currently sitting on a ferry in kupung, heading for Larantuka. Have just ridden from Dili.
I'm not on social media, unfortunately. But will keep an eye on your RUclips. Save those penny's mate and get back to living it. Look forward to seeing more.
@@Thewett91 Oh man, the memories. Enjoy Flores!!!
Mr Mr, bule bule. Will never forget it haha. I'm glad I'm not the only aussie that has tackled a crazy journey.
Nice video! Great experience.
Thanks! Yes, it was pretty amazing exploring the island like that.
Love it!!
Just listened to your a podcast you did. You certainly kept going. Geez epic journey. Know it's alot of work to film like you did but pity for us vicarious bike travellers that you didn't keep making the films ! Great work. Epic journey.
Thanks Joe. I did keep making them actually. It's just really hard to find the time to edit them. Each one is nearly a week of work. But keep an eye out. More coming out soon. I filmed all the way to France. Thanks for watching!
I love this! Although the words and the voice are clearly yours, it feels like I am listening to my own thoughts. I have recently handed my notice in at work and am about to list my house for sale so that I can embark on a similar journey of discovery. It's exciting to hear someone verbalise everything I have been thinking over the last months.
Hi Matt. Nice to hear it resonates with you!! The words are a little contradictory (need to work to be able to afford the freedom of travel, after all), but it's all about balance...making sure work has more of a purpose than just filling time and allowing you to buy more expensive things...and maximising the chance to experience all the rest that life has to offer. Happy travels!!!
Great interview on Seek Travel Ride podcast
Thanks Karen 😁 It was fun to be part of it!
Keep them coming!
Hi Mark, wow what a great preparation. A good and desirable journey begins with good preparation. I hope your whole journey will go very well without any major problems and you will meet good people who will help you wherever you are. Keep going mate and good luck always with you.
Thanks Doel 😁
Hi Mark, greetings from Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. This video really inspires me and documents your journey very well. Even though the language is limited, but your good intentions and good attitude can still take place. Thank you for visiting our beautiful country, Indonesia. I hope your journey is smooth and you are always healthy until the end of the journey.
Thank you!! Yeah, I thought I'd try telling a story without dialogue, and I was lucky to be able to capture the shots I did 😊 And yes, Indonesia is a very beautiful country. I can't wait to be back.
Awesome video mate. I never leave comments, but your video inspired me. Beautifully filmed and edited. What camera did you use for those long zooms? I’m going to Gibb River Road (second trip) again in a few months and this video has got me so excited about it.
Cheers mate! That's awesome feedback 😄 I filmed with a camcorder (Panasonic HC-V700). All the best with your trip!!
This amount of food, and especially the water (carried 23L) was the reason why I have used the Extrawheel trailer for my two most remote outback tours. Also on these tours we carried a solid-foam matt each as well as our Exped Matts. The solid matt was to go underneath the tent-floor any time we were not confident the ground was not clear of bindiis. Only used a few times but invaluable at those times, saving our air matts.
That's a good idea with the mats, considering how light-weight solid foam ones can be. I ended up swapping the Exped for a Thermarest Z Lite and got used to just using that.
That's a lot of work to set up the camera on a tripod and come pick it up afterwards... I couldn't do it, haha...
Haha sure is! I like it though. Fun thinking about what shots would follow previous ones, and how to come up with some kind of story on the fly, when you have no idea what's coming next. But some of the filming: yeah, can be a bit tedious, and a few extra kilometres involved..
@@BudgieEscapee yeah 👍, good job!!
Hello ,please could you tell me what fuel did you use for your stove when you were in Timor Leste and in Indonesia, thankyou
Hi Peter. I was able to buy methylated spirits in Timor-Leste and it lasted all through Southeast Asia. I didn't cook my own meals very often in Southeast Asia as cooked food is so cheap and readily available. And as a side note, I also carried a mulifuel burner that allowed me to use my Trangia stove with petrol/kerosene/butane-gas-canister/etc in countries where I couldn't find alcohol-based fuel.
@@BudgieEscapee thanks mark,I’m in Bali at the moment, spent 6 weeks in NTT mainly travelling through West Timor by bus ,I carried a fold up bicycle with me which I used to get around town, yeah I know about the local food situation,I feel that I needed some fresh veggies every now and then and to be able to cook my own would be so useful.I have a Trangia, I will look into what you said about the multie fuel with Trangia, thanks for the info
@@PakPeter0851 So...there are news stories of partygoers in Bali having their drinks laced with 'industrial strength methylated spirits', so in theory it's available there somewhere. Or just buy some extra strong arak 🤪 (Google "Trangia X2 multifuel burner")
@@BudgieEscapee thanks Mark,I looked up the multi fuel Trangia,I like it,didn’t know about it,I new about the Coleman multi fuel, but seeing I already have the Trangia it makes more sense to use that
@@PakPeter0851 Through experience I found that the fuel line gets blocked with soot and requires cleaning after almost every use for maximum reliability. It doesn't come with a suitable cleaning tool. I made one by straightening a very large safety pin, which I could stick down the fuel line and dislodge any trapped soot. I had some trouble with it until I learned to do that, but from then on it was fine.
Hi Mark, great video and excellent photography. That road looks tough, endless corrugations and then soft sand to end it, not to mention stiffling heat & flies. Good to find another Perth based RUclips vlogger and cyle tourer, cheers Guy
Thanks Guy 😄 Just watched your outback touring setup vid. Lots of great tips!! Will work my way through the rest of your videos as I gear up for more riding next year.
what time of year did you visit? is a certain time better than others? like the vid
This was in August. It's best (clear, sunny, warm) in the middle of the year (May-Sep) and not so great (very hot, can be wet) in the southern hemisphere summer (Dec-Mar).
Keep making videos like this but you have to filming daily and try to show the culture of people where they live and what they eat 🤣 and published consistently in RUclips and try to make videos for tiktok and Instagram and invite people to go to your channel in RUclips
Thanks for the advice. I guess I didn't show the culture here because it was home for me, so kind of boring to me 😅 As for food, I mostly just camped and ate my own food. Enjoying local food costs more money than just looking after yourself, and a lot about a trip like this is saving money where you can. And while it would be nice to film daily with Tiktok and Instagram videos, it all takes so much time, and if you do too much, then you stop enjoying the freedom of just living in the present and disconnecting from those kinds of things. It becomes all about social media instead, which can get unhealthy. I felt that I had a good balance between filming and just enjoying myself without having a camera out (and without creating hours and hours of footage that then needs to edited etc). First priority is just enjoying the adventure for myself. Video production etc is a secondary bonus.
