With thanks to RUclips Audio Library for spooky music!!!
It was a dark and stormy night and I had lost my way.
I had followed a path for many miles and now it had me to a graveyard and a set of stairs leading up to an old mansion. There were lights at the windows but I had a dreadful feeling of foreboding deep within my being........I was exhausted, hungry and cold.......I started to climb the stairway.......💀🦇🕷🌚
🖤Thank you Paul, for this entertaining, educational and excellent tutorial. I now have chills down the back of my neck and goosebumps😬
Me too after reading your fantastic comment!!!! - many thanks too Barbara... now need to get rid of those goosebumps! 🎃
Not only that your painting skills are stunning, you are also a brillant entertainer. Thanks for making your videos so lively!
Thank you very much! - very kind Birgit!!! 👻
U r Watercolour Wizard and the paint brush is ur Wand..⚡⚡⚡
Lol!!! - thanks very much for that!
Simply unbelievable Paul! Amazing light, shadow & detail! WOW
Thanks Lisa!
@@ArtbyPaulClark you're welcome. I had to re watch it as I couldn't recall how you did the details with tge dark & how you added lights, as I'm trying to paint the city of Bethlehem at night as would have been carved into rocky hillside & I only want to illuminate the manger/ stable , maybe a few lights in structures in the distance
Here in 2024 getting fall/halloween painting ideas! Thanks so much for the tutorial and idea!
You are so welcome!
Omggggggg Paul this is absolutely ridiculous! So amazing I love all of the detail this painting has gotten me so excited.. thank you for your wild imagination and wonderful painting skills
Since I found your channel I have binged on your videos! Your combination of loose blobs and precise strokes are impeccable!!! I not only love to see your art, but I feel your art! I have practiced your trees and sharpened the end of my brush! I never would have thought about the other end as a spectacular tool!!! This tutorial is just amazing, as well as, all the others!!!! Love your humor, confidence, talent and your ability to teach with such a limited palette! I am amazed, and thankful, to have found your channel!!! Wishing you many years of sharing joy🙂
Hi Shirley - Thanks so much that is a lovely comment and much appreciated ... makes it all worthwhile! ... keep in touch 👻
Love watching you paint....you make it looks so easy, your instruction/comments are simple to understand....love all that i have watched so far..even getting brave enough to have a go myself....thankyou...
Wow, thank you!
All treat no tricks. Loved everything about this the music and how with only 4 colours you create this spooktacular, moody, masterpiece! Did I mention I love it?! It's put a big smile on my face. You're the best, Paul! Happy Halloween! 🎃👻🌙
Thank you so much Gina ! - Happy Halloween too!! 🎃👻🌙
Wow. What a brilliant painting. Not just that, but also a lesson in how to paint moonlight pictures. Fabulous sound track too. Thank you so much. Margaret, Bideford
Thank you so much 😀
Your production extras are very entertaining, from backdrops to music to witty commentary! Can't wait to try this one! It's stunning!
Thanks Donna!
More dark and moody painting tutorials like this please!!!
Will do!
As always I’m smiling while watching your video ! You’re the best teacher ever! Thank you, Paul!
Wow, thank you as ever Irina!!!
I’m scared, lol. Very well done. The entertainment was the best. Love the background music. Awesome painting.
Thank you so much!
This is your second tutorial I watch and beside it being the outmost helpful creative tutorial I have watched, I also just absolutely love how you incorporate that whole theme and vibe into your videos. This way it is not only helpful and informative, but an absolutely pleasant experience and so entertaining to watch.
Also it is stunning to see, how a "nice watercolour piece" suddenly turns out into something so deep and crisp, that beside you watched the whole process you still can't grasp how and then that plain white space magically turned into a highly textured gravestone. So much fun and so interesting! Thank you for making all this effort and sharing your knowledge!
Thanks so much - lovely comment and much appreciated!
Paul, this is incredible. And thank you for providing the details on techniques and application.
Glad it was helpful Andrew!
I used to watercolor animal portraits as a teen but I was self taught and I feel I am rusty now in my 30s. I want to get back into art again more and I learned so much from you I didn’t know . I want to paint this now for my gothic Victorian decor . I would like to see one with the car from supernatural shining in the moonlight in a scene like this and silhouette of the winchesters would be awesome
Thanks for that - have fun!
Yeah, well, THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!!!! In this damned lockdown I will become an alcoholic. You are really helping me through this, Paul. I don't think I have ever seen anybody make drinking and painting look like so much fun. Pretty much all I can drink is white wine. But, I have a van coming by this afternoon. Seriously, THANK YOU !!!!!
Lol! Hilarious as ever Joseph!
Brilliant, can’t wait to have a go. Thanks Paul and Margot.
Cool beans I love it! I also love the way you showed how you can lift the color instead of using masking fluid so that you get those wonderful soft edges! Too cool!!
Thanks so much! 😊
Okay, finished watching now. I love the finished result, it has a great feeling of depth as always. I'm going to suggest, though, that those ain't ravens, they're bats! 🦇🦇🦇
Yup agree - we'll go for bats 🦇🦇🦇 - have fun! 🎃
My thought, too!
The skit in the first is funny and cute. Like it a lot!
Many thanks Nuttha - means a lot!!! 👻
just extraordinary Paul , so swift and emphatic with the brush, a great lesson .
Glad you enjoyed it
Congratulations for all your works which I have looked at with immense pleasure. All very detailed clean and fresh. Seeing you paint really makes me want to try. Congratulations indeed, and a special thank you for showing us all the techniques, the products you use and dedicating your time to us for free. You are a very humble person 🖤
Thank you so much 😀
Just the inspiration I needed. I’m trying a city street scene at night…good ideas on lighting effects! Thanks…you’re there when I need you😍
Have fun!
Der pure wahnsinn was du zaubern kannst .❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much!
This is so clever, going to find time to really have a bash at this, using these wonderful techniques. I really love your channel.
I love your style of painting. Thanks you for sharing your wonderful talent.
Thanks Bona!
I am in the US and have now done 3 of your tutorials and plan on doing more. They are so much fun. Someone has expressed an interest in purchasing one of them. What are your rules about that
Wow!!! What a creepy painting. Excellent job and the music was fitting! The ravens looked more like bats to me since I had one of those critters in my house!
Lol! - Glad you enjoyed it
Wow! I dig it. I dig it. I dig it! So would Vincent, Peter, Christopher and Boris. Oh! Musn't forget Mr. Lorre.
Love tha hooty owl gettin down wi his bad sef in the background.
Thanks Chuck! - .... and can we add Lon to the list!! ..... When you mentioned Borris I hope you weren't referring to our PM! 😊
@@ArtbyPaulClark How could I have forgotten Lon, the greatest Wolfman of the lot? Yes, we must add him or his shade will tell Mummy on us.
Never a thought of your PM entered my mind. Its too crowded with thoughts of those crazies in Washington.
YOU ARE A SUPER AMAZING ARTIST, BUT YOU ALSO HAVE A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR, WHICH REALLY MAKES ME LAUGH. SUPER SPOOKY PAINTING, JUST LOVE IT.I HAVE SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL, SO I CAN PAINT AND LAUGH, AND AS WE KNOW LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE SPECIALLY DURING THIS PANDEMIC. 😜😜😜😜❤❤❤
Totally agree - you got to laugh - many thanks Ann!

Lovely comments Petra
Thanks as always!
As always impressed with your mad painting skills, then u started the details....Mind Blown! When u painted in the slanted triangles on the roof line for over hanging shingles. That was awesome. I know its just a tiny detail but it made the biggest impact, turned the house into foreboding. Thanks again for the tutorials and humor, keepem coming
Thank you so much 😀
Ha ha ha...scary beginning and nice sound effects throughout the video...Very interesting and you always give your 100%. Thank you Paul...
Glad you enjoyed it
Can't wait to get started on this Paul! As always a huge thank you for your generosity and sharing your talent with us!
Hope you enjoy it Melanie! - BIG thanks 🎃
I like your Painting style especially when you mixed with music 👍🙏
Thank you so much Mac 😀
I really really like this painting, beautiful job! I was terrified the entire way through but made it till the end. It's a good thing you stopped for a drink to calm your nerves. I was certainly more scared by this than that outdated haunted house at that mouse theme park in Orlando Florida.
Lol Tom! Thank you so much 😀
I just finished watching this for the third time. Just love it. My dog also enjoyed it. His ears perked up a few times. Thank you. I love the way you teach and paint!
You are so kind Lynn - many thanks
This watercolor painting is amazing. Loved the intro also. As always I have a request one night landscapes of village with house and trees. I totally follow the way teach and my paintings look ok 👌 now.
Great suggestion - I'll add it to the list!!! 👌
A smashing video and love the intro too 👍😎💕
Thank you so much Chantal, finding the music was fun tooo 👻 -😁
The music in this video is much befitting with your sense of humor. I was struggling to focus on the tutorial while the music was causing a distraction. 😁
And WOW with the level of details.
Noted!
This is such a treat and so many tricks!! Awesome and fun you are so entertaining and amazing.. Thank you so much!
So pleased you enjoyed it 🤩
Brilliant!! Great music!! Very enjoyable to watch and listen, thank you, Paul. By the way, I used to be a Were wolf, but I'm ok now-ooooo.
Glad you enjoyed it - Lol! the oldies are goodies!!!
Fantastic and funny! Thank yoooou Mr. Claaarrk! 🎃
My pleasure! 🎃
I love it! Nice choice for the background music, too.
Thanks! - pleased you like the music too!!!
Love the mood music.
So pleased to hear!
The most fun ever! THANK YOU
Great to hear!
I love your tutorials and for me personally this painting is soo incredibly beautiful! thank you for all your videos 😊
Thank you so much 😀
It's very spooky quiet at the Bates' house on Halloween night! I love this. So spooky looking. It has so much atmosphere and it makes you not want to go up and knock on that door. How perfect. Only thing missing is the full moon. We had a glorious blue moon on Samhain/Halloween night Saturday.
Glad you enjoyed it Delores - full moon here in the UK too - Keep in touch!!
Life is meant to be fun and you are, FUN 😄
Agree about the life being FUN bit!!!! 😄
Since we are no where near Halloween, I initially passed on watching this video. But I needed me a dose of PC so I just watched this one and WOW it's nuts! What brush strokes! I am going to have to start this now so it can be done by 10/31/21. Sigh, maybe I should buy your brushes.
Lol Betty - give it a go!!
J'adore votre humour, vous m'avez vraiment fait rire ce qui n'est pas si évident ces temps ci...merci de partager votre savoir et votre bienveillance.
Mon plaisir - nous avons tous besoin d'un peu de joie en ces moments. Merci beaucoup Muriel
Hi Paul. Just wanted to say how much I loved this tutorial. I’ve completed the painting & am really happy with it. It took several hours but I really enjoyed doing it. It was great to paint such a different scene. I just want to thank you for all your wonderful tutorials. I have been painting on & off for years but had very little confidence in my ability until I discovered your videos. I have now learned so many new techniques from you & feel my confidence has grown & I have started to improve - something I almost never thought possible! Please keep doing what you are doing. I really look forward to a new tutorial each week & a dose of your good humour! Thanks again.
Thanks Tipster - that is a lovely comment!!! - confidence plays such a huge part in being happy with what you've created - it's important that you don't put pressure on yourself to create a masterpiece every time - just enjoy the experience and it will show in your work! - keep in touch!
Hi Paul I finally painted this one from last year and enjoyed it. I don't know what took me so long. Thank you for a haunting tutorial!
Heartbreaking painting from just four colours. Cant even think also but u do so easily. Master piece sir ❤️
Thank you so much 😀 Sunaina!!!
Très réussi, prêt pour la première page d'un film d'horreur!
C'est super d'entendre merci pour ça Lydia

This is true LOVE for your pupils... thank you!
Thanks as ever Alexandru!
Thank you very much, I really enjoy to follow your advice for this drawing.
Best from Paris
Delighted to help 😊
This painting might be your best to date here on YT. Great composition, which draws in the viewer's eye. Nice choice using Prussian Blue, which imo is too often overlooked. Anyone ever tell you that you have a real knack for painting, lol? Many thanks for providing the sketch for your very cool house, Paul!
Thank you very much Mary! - that's nice too know as I wasn't really sure about this one as not everyone likes Halloween!
Love your videos, entertaining and educational!

Paul, you are definitely the best instructor! I also love the humor and sound effects. Always a delight while learning more and more! Glenda (not Ray) Garcia :-)

Epic painting!! Love the atmosphere. Thanks for sharing and making your process so clear!
Thank you so much Billy 🎃
Awesome as usual - love the sound effect too.
Thanks again Magdalene!!
That was great. I don't think I've ever seen anyone do a Gothic gloomy painting in watercolor. Nice break from all the light and airy.
Thank you! Cheers - glad you liked it!
This is amazing! Thank you for sharing🙏🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
The music is brilliant

Glad you enjoyed it Carolyn!
I love the spooky colours and the music/sound effects! Very scary and exciting. Thanks, Paul. So much fun to watch. The detail work with the rigger and pencil really set it off. :) Happy Hallowe'en!
By the way, I found a No. 12 stick in the park across the road. I can't wait to try it out! :)
Glad you enjoyed it Margaret! 🎃 - great stuff, nothing like getting a No.12 for free!
Amazing.....beautiful.
Thank you! Cheers!
You're just brilliant!!!
Ahhh, thanks!
I fell in love with it 😊. I don't think I can manage to do it but would like to try 😊. Thank you 😊
You can do it Yasemin!!!! - Thanks very much! 😊
@@ArtbyPaulClark, thank you 😊. I will take a picture of it to show you when I am done 😊😉
@@ArtbyPaulClark, i did it 😊. Yihuuu!!! Thank you. It was so much fun. I had to draw two times because I wanted to do it free hand 😊 and couldn't manage the perspective right away, second drawing was better. Not perfect but I am pleased with my result. Thank you again 😊.
Loved it!
Many thanks Sherry!!! 👻
Thanks! I’ve always wanted to try something like this!!
You should Derek! many thanks 👻!
I look forward to painting this along with you! It’s amazing
Hi Paul! Johanna again. 😄
I absolutely love how you put all this together. Normally I don’t like too much hussle on instructive video’s, but this was entertaining and it made me grin and chuckle. The painting itself is gourgeous! 😍
Do you know about this Facebook-/Instagram thing called Inktober? A drawing a day, according to a given prompt list. It’s FUN! I did the whole month -3 days to go- with Indian ink and watercolor, I wish I could show you!
After Inktober is over, I’ll try the touch up thing with pastel pencils. For now, it would feel like cheating to myself.
Thanks for the joy! 👻💕
My pleasure Johanna - thanks for the nod on the Inktober thing, I'll check it out! - take care! 🎃
Brilliant! I may have a go!
have fun!
Fantastic!
Thank you! Cheers!
Wowser this is a supper spooktacular scene! Think it’s a little complex (only been water painting for eight months) but might give it a go on a smaller scale, maybe spooky trees and a few gravestones. Throughly enjoyed this awesome video you did right down to crows (aww alright seagulls), glad you could stop to wet the old whistle with a little ale. Forgot to put my tea on the left the other day and used it as a paintbrush cleaner sigh I will try harder to put on the left. My Paul Clark watercolour book was a big hit the other day in art class, I’ve lent out though to an elderly (92) lady who wants to read, she can’t do internet very well but I’m sure you won’t miss one sale .... she is going to tackle the flower tutorial! She love painting flowers and I will get the book back next week after all I’ve got this fab tutorial I can watch a few times and I’m so gonna do the gravestones and trees I can see a little dog curled up beside one ah the faithful companion. Thank you for this video and inspiring me to push myself more.
I'm not sure if putting it on the left helps....hmmm I always find a way to dunk my brush in the coffee or tea?!
Hi Paula - thanks again for lovely comment and delighted to hear you are getting something from my book. Really good idea not to paint the whole scene - just the trees and gravestones will make a great little scene - good luck!
Absolutely fabulous thank you for sharing
You are so welcome Julie - thanks for comment!!!🎃
Lovin it
Thanks
Ingreadable love the spooky atmosphere.....scary stuff 😱👻💀
Many thanks Carol 👻
Loved it all! Thank you for the inspiration. And the color choices.
Cheers Mindy!
How fun is this! Great opening and I enjoyed the haunting music. Can't wait to try this!
Thanks so much Carol! 🎃
I love your work, or fun, shall we say, and you sense of drama 🙂
Thanks as always Ranjana! 🙂
