This was one of our favorite dance song. We use to get down dancing at House Parties. This song brings back so many memories of the 60’s early 70’s. That’s when it was real music. “ Function At The Junction” it was a hit.
That's right. I grew up during the sixties in a small provincial town. There was little to do. So we were dependant on houseparties. On thursday we started to ask ''is there a houseparty anywere', and we got tips from our frieds. So more thans once I found myself at some house party in district I was was never before and in de house of someone I dit know at all. But all that didn't matter. Is was the sixties and it was de best music ever made.
Was just minding my own business and this song hit me in my spirit like so. When this plague (COVID-19) has passed, somebody somewhere BETTER play this here 🙏💜🕺💃🌌
I have a big sister seven years older than me. When I wasn't being the bratty baby brother from age 4 to 9, I was my big sis dance partner. Function At The Junction came out a few months before her Sweet 16 B-Day Party in September 1966. For about five years, little precocious me was having great times dancin and hangin' with (what I thought were) my sister's 'women' friends. It all came to screeching halt at her party. As I told to keep out and away from the evening festivities. I stayed fixated on "Tell one, We gonna have a ball. Tell'em about the function at the junction..." I couldn't wait to throw a party the way I like it...and show my sister. We both relocated from Cleveland to Southern California during the late 1970's. Me turning 23 by 1980 (both our B-Days are in Sept), as full circle was achieved as I played this song and pointed at my original dance partner told her COME ON! We partied the night away with 30+ people in my 2 bedroom apt with a bit MORE than soda pop being served....
Shorty could jam! That Motown Sound with Earl Van Dyke, Choker Campbell, Hamilton Bohannon, et al. It's a Great Lakes thang! Partying on the Detroit River off Belle Isle unfortunately for Shorty (PBUH).
They'll never be another you shorty!!!! Function at the junction will never die!!!! I have 6 generations listening to this song.we play this song at every event and we party hard!!!! Thank you your highness!!!! 💋❤️🙏✌️
The perfect July 4th song. Having a barbecue or cookout filled with spare ribs, corn on the cob, chicken wings, French fries, hot dogs and hamburgers! Now, I'm hungry!
This is SUCH a great song. I gotta tell you- in the 60's we had a LOT of social problems----but DAMN~I remember going to high school in Brooklyn....and Sat. night was teen night. We danced to this and other Motown classics....mixed crowd and we danced and danced and danced...and had such a good time.
It doesn't get any better than this!!!! 5 generations are still listening to this song!!!! This is the sheeeit!!!! Bumping bumping bumping!!!! Shorty lo
Thanks for the memories. To remember when these songs were played on the radio, at parties, and in our homes. To remember when 45's were a great, big deal. To remember everyone breaking to the dance floor to dance to this song. To remember a time when we lived for the next record to be released from Motown. How good the music sounded when it hit the air waves. How good the music made us feel. Everything was alright. Uptight! (Stevie's meaning, of course.)
Motown was 'HOT' back in the day.....That record company, the singers, producers, musicians, songwriters, arrangers, composers, kept the hits coming back in the day.......
