Honestly, this movie changed my mind about superheroes. My dad has been a comic book fan my whole life and I actively avoided anything related to them until I was dragged to see this movie with my high school class after graduation. I came home that night and ended up telling my dad that I actually really loved the movie and wouldn’t mind seeing it again with him. We’ve been MCU partners ever since…
yes, i think to do it the other way we had to start with captain america but everyone, like you said, said to do it this way and now bc of you i think we know why! thank you for watching
The suit itself provides a great amount of supporting structure, especially for flight, but the suits are way too heavy for Stark to move them alkne for any period of time (the stufio says tgey weigh 600 to 800 pounds each, other sources say about 250, without Stark. If I recall properly, never was much into comics and Marvel less than DC, in the comics Stark is actually injured and becimes a paraplegic and he designs a suit to essentially walk for him.
Robert D. Junior absolutely nailed it as Tony Stark in Iron Man in this movie. He went from a drugged out low point in his carrier to a mega superstar in this movie. Great performance by R D. Junior , great movie !
@@gregorygant4242 Well it's not _officially_ his name, his name is just the exact same as his dad's. It's like he's Robert Downey II. His dad would be called Robert Downey Senior, just to tell them apart. It's kind of like a semi formal title
The arc reactor in his chest does more than power the suit. It also connects to the “magnet” in his chest that’s keeping remaining shrapnel in his chest from entering his heart and killing him.
The miniature size arc reactor he built in the cave he said would 'power something big for 15 minutes'. Yinsen said it 'could run your heart for 50 lifetimes', and Tony responded with that. Details my man, gotta catch the details.
Awesome! PLEASE watch the films in release order to avoid spoilers. Because these films are so popular it’s best to go in as blind as possible because other reactors have had big moments spoiled for them by researching films before watching. Just take them one film at a time and remember to watch the end credits! Gonna be fun!
Marvel Comics has been around since the 1960’s (different name before that). Iron Man (and many characters you’ll meet) was co-created by Stan Lee, who makes a cameo in each film. Make sure you look for him. Stark mistook him for “Hef” in this film.
Go back and rewatch Yinson's explanation of what he made. When Tony was hit you saw a multitude of bleeding spots through his flack vest. Loads of little metal barbs penetrated his chest. They will eventually travel into his circulatory system and kill him. Almost impossible to remove all. A super magnet will keep them from traveling further into the body. Yensin made a cobbled magnet powered by a car battery. Tony made a super magnet powered by his mini reactor. When he got home, he made a better one and had Pepper install it. He uses that mini reactor to power his new iron man suit.
That's the part that amazes me... in a cave, he improvises an ARC reactor that produces 3 gigajoules per second, the equivalent of three nuclear reactors in something that fits in the palm of your hand. What did the Mark II chest piece produce? Jarvis warns Tony that the Mark I chest piece was not designed for sustained flight.
Iron Man appeared in 1963 in Marvel's "Tales of Suspense" title. His capture was originally in Viet Nam. When he gained enough popularity he got his own comic book.
What this movie did, what it started, really has revolutionized movie-making, at least the superhero genre. It's pretty damn good all on its own but becomes so much more. And I love your reaction to Agent Coulson. He's one of my favorite characters overall.
I have never seen anyone be this lost in the first Iron Man. Like what the hell. The tech and arc reactor is explained throughout. From the magnetism to keep the shrapnel at bay and out of his heart, to the immense energy source to power the suit. The villains are just basic villains with no bigger motivations than to rule. Nothing complicated.
Iron Man has been around since the '60s. Aside from some updating and mixing some later story material with some early stuff, this movie pretty much follows the comics. The original Iron Man suit, for example, was gray metal and bulky, and he made it - with the help of Dr. Yinsen - so he could escape captivity in a war zone. As you might imagine, in the Sixties the main concerns were the Cold War and the Vietnam War, with Tony questioning his role as a weapons manufacturer ... a profession that seemed more patriotic in WW2. In some ways, Tony Stark was based on Howard Hughes. As for Rhodes being angry with Tony toward the start ... that's because soldiers' lives depend on having the best equipment, and he sees Stark as being a bit flakey.
The character of Rhodey has also evolved and been retconned a lot. He started out as Tony’s personal pilot who became a good friend then eventual sidekick.
It was down right fun to see how Iron Man came to be! Who has the best story in Marvel (no spoilers!) in your opinion & why? So far, we love the MCU! We already have the Hulk on our Patreon! www.patreon.com/theoctobers We will be releasing these on Mondays! So Marvel Mondays in full effect. We will have the Hulk up by 12 on Monday ❤️
Always make sure you go to the very end of the credits because sometimes Marvel will have more then one end credit scene and stick to the release order of the Marvel movies.
Love to have a new channel to follow through the MCU journey. Three things: 1. Watch them in the release order as some people have already mentioned, it's most important since you will be spoiled otherwise. 2. Some films have both mid- and end credits scenes so make sure you look for all of them. If I remember correctly, some films even have more than two. 3. Yes, there will be other parts of the universe involved, not just earth. Looking forward to the next one!
and Virginia "Pepper" Potts isn't just an assistant. She's an executive assistant to the CEO (Tony). She is in charge go hiring those who do the business, accounting, marketing, acquisitions. Pepper runs the company, Obediah served on the weapons manufacturing half of the company as a board member (Pepper and Tony are also board members). Pepper runs the company, Obediah runs the weapons manufacturing and board stuff, and Tony is R&D. So yeah Pepper can hire fire arrest free etc anyone in/for Stark Industries and without Tony's permission.
@TheOctobersReact yep. She's proven to him she's capable so he let's her do what she does best. And bc she doesn't treat him as a god, he admires respects and likes her most.
25:58, In the old days of the comics, they never really conveyed how this suit could function and still be wearable. But when I saw this sequence I was like "This makes sense"
Enjoyed your reactions, guys. One bit of advice for ALL MCU movies - always always always wait through the credits and afterwards. There is always at least one after-credit scene, sometimes 2 or 3, that is a lead-in to whatever is happening next in the MCU. And, yes, some of these movies are not entirely set on Earth.
I dunno if this is controversial or not, but I believe Tony's character development is among the greatest in any series of movies, not even just in superhero movies but any movie. Can't wait for you two to eventually notice that
I love that the director for this also played a character in it and several other marvel films he’s great Jon Favero made a great choice picking Robert happy he turned his life around too & we see that the character Tony is flawed too
The arc reactor in Tony's chest, that glowing circle thing, creates a magnetic field which keeps the shrapnel in his chest, which was put there by his own weapons sold by his enemy within the company - one of Tony's board members was selling STARK Tech behind Tony's back - from working its way into his heart and killing him. In the original comics Tony was wounded by one of his own landmines in VietNam and had to wear a massive electric vest that kept him alive. That massive chest piece became part of the chest piece of his armor. Stan Lee said (I'm paraphrasing a little here) "I wanna make a character that represents EVERYTHING comic book lovers hate - a snide, narcissistic, 110% capitalist billionaire, and cram him so far down their throats they will LOVE him, even though they hate everything he represents."
Obadiah Stane is the COO of Stark's company. The COO is usually the number 2 person in a publicly traded corporation after the CEO. With Tony out of the way, he would have been moved up to acting CEO. In the comics, Obadiah Stane was a rival weapons manufacturer who took over Tony's company when he got drunk and lost everything. So the moment I saw Jeff Bridges was playing this character I knew he was the villain.
The thing in his chest is a electromagnet, to prevent the iron fragments of one of his missiles from reaching his heart and kill him, since no one could take them all out. The first one needed a car battery to work, then Tony made the ARK reactor to not just give energy to the electromagnet, but to also give power to his power suits. The first reactor he made had less capacity than the second one, so that's why in the final battle he was slowly losing power.
This is the beginning of MCU before Disney involved in it. That's why this first movies have some mature scenes and dialogues that they've had lost in this Disney/ Marvel era. I'm gonna miss those Phase One times.
Agents of SHIELD is a TV show set in the MCU that ran several seasons before being cancelled. SHIELD itself makes many appearances in MCU movies & shows.
Small thing, a few people will criticize you for talking so much during the reaction/movie but that’s what the reactions are all about, literally live reactions. Not like when you’re in theaters though!! Keep on being strong, keep being you, and keep through this huge incredible universe.
Nothing wrong with talking during a reaction. But the magic is having an intuition for knowing when to talk and when to let the characters talk so that you don't miss key information.
I'm so happy that you are starting the MCU, you will love all of them. This journey is long but well worth the time to watch this amazing piece of cinema.
Three things to know about MCU movies: 1. The end credit scenes - sometimes more than one in a movie - you already know about these. 2. The Stan Lee cameos. 3. A scene in every movie where someone jumps/falls/ejects from an aircraft.
tbh i have no idea about comics i wasn’t around it, i have a younger sister! when you’re not around it ever when was the time i was supposed to venture that? i guess that makes me ignorant!
The Miniaturized ARC Reactor he built in the cave, Tony says it produces 3 gigajoules Per Second. Which is the equivalent of 3,000,000,000 Watts. To put it in prospective for you, your computer probably uses 500-1000 watts. It's the Equivalent of three Nuclear Power Plants. Edit: the only thing you didn't show is the Stan Lee cameo. Stan Lee created the Marvel Comics and has a cameo in every Marvel movie all the way up to his final passing.
18:40 The glowing blue thing in his chest is an energy source that runs an electromagnet inside his chest. The bomb that knocked him on his back at the start of the movie was designed to cut through body armour and put shrapnel in the victim's body. They may survive the explosion but eventually that shrapnel makes its way around your body the heart and kills you. The electromagnet prevents that metal shrapnel from circulating his body - in this case it prevents the shrapnel from entering his heart and tearing it open, killing him. It also produces the energy the Iron Man suit needs to run.
Welcome to the journey! New sub here from chicago. This movie came out when I was in 5th or 6th grade. Grew up with this series I’m 25 now & let me tell you it’s one hell of a ride and you’re gonna get attached to all these characters you’re gonna be introduced to. You’re gonna love the rest and don’t forget post credit scenes in every movie. Some have more than 1
This isn't a Disney movie though later MCU movies were done by Disney. Though Disney owns the MCU now, they didn't buy Marvel Entertainment until the year after this came out (2009), which allowed this to be a much darker and bloodier movie. I loved that they used the original origin story, down to a lot of plot details like the look of the hastily made suit and the death of his fellow inmate/assistant who sacrificed himself to buy Tony time. They just updated it from the Vietnam War (which was the war of the day when Iron Man first appeared) to the Gulf War. That meant a lot to me right there. The reactor powering the electromagnet in the chest that Tony has to have to stay alive being the foundation for the suit that allows him to, in his way, repay Yinsen for the lessons he taught Tony about life and living. It is a great character arc that continues through multiple movies. Robert Downey Jr., with his manifold history of, shall we say "youthful indiscretions", was the ideal actor to play Tony Stark, who has had his own issues through the decades of the comics. And he played him perfectly with style and panache. Ideal casting there. Favreau as Happy Hogan was ideal too. Jon did a great job directing this movie!
@@TheOctobersReact RDJ as Tony Stark is one of the most dynamic characters in the MCU for sure, and he's so often a frustration/joy to watch. 😀 I look forward to you getting into the expanded universe as you go along, and I'll make other comments as new vids get posted so no spoilers from me. 😀 Have fun!
35:50, there actually is a reason why Tony survived. If you watch all of the MCU movies you will get the answer to the question he asks himself. There is also another Marvel character who survived something equally dire who asks the same question. The answer to both their questions are linked.
This was one of the finest acting performances I have ever seen from Jeff Bridges.I believe if he didn't have Heath Ledger as the Joker to compete against at the Oscars, this job would have earned him the Best Supporting Actor award, hands down.
Iron Man 101: The device in Tony's chest is called an Arc Reactor, basically a mini fusion reactor. It powers the armors but it also powers the electromagent that is keeping the shrapnel from moving to his hart. So it isn't a pacemaker.
@@TheOctobersReact I would like to appoligive if I seem a litt;e passionate on the subject. I grew up with these characters and their stories as a kid and even a bit into my adult years.
Most ppl miss the fact that Tony gets his inspiration for the mini-Arc reactor while he’s being tortured.. Biggest two problems with the suit, one they pass off with the arc reactor is the massive energy consumption. The one we have to “suspend disbelief” on is what Star Trek calls “inertial dampening.” If you crash in the suit, your body keeps going inside it and you’d be killed. Stand knew how to extract the arc reactor from Tony’s chest because he had Tony’s plans..
To be more accurate Paramount than Disney owned these characters except Spider-Man is owned by Sony and the X-Men, Fanstatic Four, Ghost Rider and DareDevil was owned by Fox till Disney brought Fox in 2019.
@@reggiebrown9508 And slightly more accurate: Marvel had done several movies in 'association' with movie studios that had bought the 'film' rights to make and distribute Marvel Comics movies. Paramount acted as a distributor for the first phase or so of MCU movies. Disney had already bought Marvel near the end of 2009, but MARVEL Studios had already contracted with Paramount to put the films in theaters. So no ownership by Paramount. MARVEL Studios was essentially an independent film studio for the first phase of MCU, though Disney bought after the first 2 releases -- these were so planned out I am not sure if/when Disney might have started exerting influence over content.
You not knowing anything about the Marvel Universe (not just the movies) is crazy for me since I grew up buying the comics for under $1 and reading them not knowing those very comics would be worth hundreds or thousands of $ now if I kept them in pristine condition. Keep exploring, and I know this is a reaction channel so you need to ask questions and comment as you watch, but you may want to rewatch afterwards so you can catch more of the details and dialogue you miss as you talk over the movie in the first watch. Other reactors sometimes rewind and pause, which I think is fine so they don't miss anything, but if you choose to do it the way you're currently doing it, have at it and I hope your channel and audience grows with your unique style. Good job and keep going! 👍😁🤙
This movie sparked the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One thing I'm glad they changed was that when Obadiah fought Tony as the Iron Monger, he lost his sanity and used his repulsor to blow his own head off. PLEASE watch these in release order. Each one ties in with another movie.
Don't worry about PLANETS. Almost everybody looks and gives acknowledgement to Stan Lee. He was a founder of this world. Look up his picture so you can find him and give him the respect, for his cameos. Try to forget about Thanos for along time.
As a result of the bomb explosion at the beginning of the movie there is shrapnel near Tony's heart that couldn't be removed but that will eventually work its way to his heart and kill him. The battery, and later the arc reactor on his chest keeps the shrapnel from moving any closer. Later it then doubles as the power for his Iron Man suit.
The Ten Rings is a meta reference to an Iron Man villain called The Mandarin. He wore ten rings of alien manufacture that each gave him a different power. In the MCU The Ten Rings is a terrorist organization akin to Batman's League of Shadows. In the comics Tony was wounded in Vietnam as that was the current war at the time. They updated it to the war zone of Afghanistan to make it more relevant to modern audiences. 😅
I still remember seeing this one in theaters... I had no idea back then just how much would follow from it, but I've been so happy to be along for the ride! And... hey, welcome to the ride, yourselves ;)
that shot him out the sky from the tank still affected his body all the way to end of the saga. Every now and then Tony is always holding his left arm.
It’s explained when tony wakes up. The circle in his chest is an electromagnet that keeps the shrapnel in his bloodstream from entering his heart or wherever it is . By pulling it towards the magnet.
Yes, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is Marvel and it does tie in to the movies. "Agents of Shield" is part of the Marvel Television division of Marvel, separate from the movie division. The movies division being the bigger money maker basically set the rules and storyline, and "Agents" tried to follow it, although the movie division didn't always share information. As I said, the tv show does tie in to the movies, but in the Marvel timeline, the show starts between "Iron Man 3" and "Thor: The Dark World". Please don't watch it until after "Iron Man 3" as it could spoil some things that are in the movies. There are several places you can check on line to make sure that if you're watching "Agents of Shield", you are lining up correctly with the movies (so you won't encounter spoilers). I highly recommend the show. I thought it was terrific. It has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
You didn’t know Robert Downey Jr?… Well now you know him! haha 😜 He’s the best and Iron Man is the heart of the MCU! 😍❤️🔥🙌🏻 Can’t wait to see all of your reactions to the MCU movies!
@2:32 technically this was Paramount at the time. Phase 1 is also what I call the Paramount era. The cheeseburger scene is based on something that happened to Robert Downey Jr in real life. Some time ago, he was in a rough spot. Then one day when he at a cheeseburger from Burger King, he was so disgusted that it actually made him snap to his senses. He got rid of his drugs, sought out help, and established himself as an incredible actor.
The thing in his chest is supposed to be a magnet keeping the shrapnel from working its way to his heart. It is not a pacemaker and has nothing to do with how his heart works. It is a little confusing as to why he was going to go into cardiac arrest when Pepper pulled the magnet out but as it is explained in the movie, The only purpose that the chest piece serves as far as Tony's health goes is that it's a magnet to keep the shrapnel out of his heart.
I've been reading Iron Man since the mid 1970's . Of all Marvel Comics superheroes he has so many demons. In the early 1980's, they had an entire storyline in which he became a whole blown alcoholics and lost his company. When I heard there was going to be a big budget Iron Man movie with Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, I knew this was going to be special. Then when I saw all of the big name stars who were also on the cast I was hooked from go.
It's suggested that some time before watching "Spider-Man: Homecoming" in Phase Three, you take some time to watch the Spider-Man movies that were released before Sony (which owns the rights to the Spider-Man character) and Disney (which wound up owning the rights to the MCU) made a deal in 2015 to include Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That'll add some useful context in later MCU Spider-Man movies: "Spider-Man" (2002) "Spider-Man 2" (2004) "Spider-Man 3" (2007) "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012) "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" (2014). FYI - when they were released, the Amazing Spider-Man movies were considered to be reboots, and then the MCU Spider-Man introduced in Phase Three was seen as another reboot.
Great reaction! No spoilers but every single MCU movie will have between one and four teasers somewhere in the credits. They are often mini-previews of what is to come, like the end-credit scene here. I hope you both enjoy the series as much as I have.
Robert Downey Jr. was great as Iron Man. I liked his sarcasm. Another movie you should react to its one favorites, The Final Countdown (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz.
Pay attention to the dialogue bro. Shrapnel from the bomb got into his chest and the magnetic field he built keeps the metal out his heart which keeps him alive.
Congratulations! You have just begun one of the greatest movie journies of all time, the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). I always enjoy watching the evolution of new fans. It is VERY important that you watch the movies in their release order and that you remember to watch all the after-credits scenes (some of the movies have more than one). Keep up the great work!
18:57 everyone has already pointed out it not realistic but the idea is he has an electrical magnet in his chest that keeps him from dying the shrapnel. He created a portal self generating fusion device which can power technology at an unrealistic scale, including the iron man suits. Been a year so i bet you figured that out by now but didn't see a comment clearly explaining it..
This was Robert Downey Jr’s rise back into the good spotlight. He had trouble with drugs and stuff for awhile then got his life turned around and Marvel took a chance on him & Jon Favreau to save their company. If this movie flopped Marvel would’ve had to sell off the rights to the rest of their property. Now that Marvel is under Disney they almost have all their property back. Spider-Man is still under Sony but since Disney bought 20th Century Fox they got Fantastic Four and X-Men back under the Marvel umbrella. 18:46 the arc reactor in his chest keeps the shrapnel from the bomb away from his heart. Basically a wireless version of what Yinsin built. He can also power his suit with it. 21:00 Iron Man and most Marvel movies are based on comics that Stan Lee created. He’s someone you have to look for in every Marvel movie. They give him a cameo and sometimes a speaking part. 22:43 Both Rhodey & Pepper know about the chest piece cause Rhodey found him so he saw it then and Pepper cause she’s his close assistant that knows more than he does. Rhodey is his liaison between the military and Stark Enterprises. 25:47 Search iron man suits on RUclips. Many people have built suits that make you like Iron Man. 26:14 the car he falls on has been auctioned and in a private collection. 27:16 Did you catch the Stan Lee cameo? Tony thought he was Hugh Hefner. 41:50 he didn’t build tunnels. The building goes under the parking lot and he just busted through the ceiling into the parking lot. 46:54 yes Agents of Shield is in this storyline. Don’t watch it until you watch the first Avengers film. There are spoilers in Agents of Shield.
I’ve been a fan of RDJ for years and was saddened to see such a talented guy struggle with substance abuse. But Iron Man was definitely his comeback vehicle. Sadly his father Robert Downey Sr passed away a few years back after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Fortunately though he lived long enough to see his son become such a beloved figure to millions of people of all ages.
This was actually a year before Disney bought Marvel. So a few of the first films have more dark and adult humor. Suprisingly further into the Disney-Era is where we get more swearing than before.
Unfortunately this is true. And there are some moments you definitely don’t want spoiled. Although it’s sad, a comment moderator definitely not a bad idea for this series at least.
The Comics the movies are based on include detective stories, science fiction, horror, humor, satire, mythology, monsters, space aliens, magic, sorcery, martial arts, afro futurism, street level crime, mysticisim, and lots of action. youll go everywhere.
Everything in the MCU, all the characters are comic books characters which was written and made by the man the myth the legend himself.... Stan Lee. Watch out for Stan Lee throughout the MCU he will show up for a cameo.
Stan Lee was the main comic book writer, editor, publisher, and producer for Marvel for decades! He created most of these characters and stories. He did a cameo in each of the marvel movies until his death in 2018. Some of the more recent movies include him in various ways as well. In Iron Man, he was Hugh Hefner at the party. In the Increduble Hulk, he was the old man that got the bottle of contaminated soda. In Iron Man 2 he is Larry King.
"I am Iron Man." Fun Fact: During filming, a tank accidentally ran over an Aaton 35mm camera. Stan Lee Cameo Fact: Comic writer Stan Lee appears at Tony Stark's party playing the role of Hugh Hefner, accompanied by three blonde women. Lee later mentioned that it was his most fun cameo. What Script Fact: "I am Iron Man" was ad-libbed by Robert Downey Jr.. Producer Kevin Feige approved using it in the final cut of the film and credits this with his decision to largely do away with secret identities in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Burger King Connection Fact: In an interview with Britain's Empire Magazine, Robert Downey Jr. thanked Burger King for helping him get straight in 2003, with a car full of drugs. He had a burger that was so disgusting, it made him rethink his life, and dump the drugs in the ocean. He repeats this, with his impromptu sit-down session with the press, upon his return from captivity. Burger King also promoted the film with toys based on this movie, as well as the sequel. On a personal note, I actually love Burger King. Casting Notes Fact: Paul Bettany recorded all of his lines as J.A.R.V.I.S. (Just A Rather Very Intelligent System) in two hours. According to Paul Bettany, he did not know on which film he was working. He merely did the job as a favor for director Jon Favreau. Paul Bettany has never seen the film, and is unfamiliar with the plot. He said J.A.R.V.I.S. was the easiest job ever, and it was almost like a robbery, since he only worked for two hours, got paid a lot of money, then went on vacation with his wife Jennifer Connelly. Practical Over CGI Fact: Although originally planned as a completely digital suit, the Stan Winston Studio Iron Man team built a "real" Mark I suit that wound up performing over 80% of the Mark I shots in the final film. From the first film test to flamethrowers blazing real fire, the Mark I suit was a pivotal creation that would set the tone for the Iron Man franchise's fantastic blend of both digital and practical techniques to bring Tony Stark's armor to life. The Iron Man Mark I armor weighed ninety pounds.

Probably because it's the studio that made transformers. Yes. Disney haven't bought Marvel just yet...
The suit itself provides a great amount of supporting structure, especially for flight, but the suits are way too heavy for Stark to move them alkne for any period of time (the stufio says tgey weigh 600 to 800 pounds each, other sources say about 250, without Stark. Robert D. Junior absolutely nailed it as Tony Stark in Iron Man in this movie.
He went from a drugged out low point in his carrier to a mega superstar in this movie.
Great performance by R D. Junior , great movie !
agreed we loved this movie

Bruh I've never seen his name spelled like that lmao. Everyone always shortens the Jr. and calls him RDJ or Robert Downey Jr.
@@Heroo01 Well, I'm not American ,we don't usually call anyone Junior , we don't use the abbreviation Jr. so I just spell the whole word !

Not even close. This isn't DC.
Goddamn sounds like a chore to watch these movies.
Marvel Comics has been around since the 1960’s (different name before that). Iron Man (and many characters you’ll meet) was co-created by Stan Lee, who makes a cameo in each film. Make sure you look for him. Stark mistook him for “Hef” in this film.
ohhhhhh my ! that was a great little easter egg! thanks for watching!
@@TheOctobersReactYeah that's correct, Stan Lee pops up in every movie in the infinity saga.
Actually marvel comics have been around since 1939(they were called timely comics then and changed their name to marvel comics in 1961).
@@RedmoonIndustriesu mean "power of the sun in the palm of ur hand" ? 😈😈😈
Iron Man appeared in 1963 in Marvel's "Tales of Suspense" title. His capture was originally in Viet Nam. When he gained enough popularity he got his own comic book.
this movie does actually follow the comic origins very well.
What this movie did, what it started, really has revolutionized movie-making, at least the superhero genre. It's pretty damn good all on its own but becomes so much more.
And I love your reaction to Agent Coulson. He's one of my favorite characters overall.
he’s pretty awesome !
Your sooo late…
@@TheOctobersReact and I hope you learnt to follow better by now. Keeping up?
yes you can def say that!

Please don't let people tell you you need to watch everything released before this start of the MCU.
@@nancyscogin7549 Well, maybe Not everything. . .
Love to have a new channel to follow through the MCU journey. Three things:

Reactors ALWAYS skip over the "don't waste your life, Stark" line from Yinsen, despite the fact it might be the most important line in the movie.

I dunno if this is controversial or not, but I believe Tony's character development is among the greatest in any series of movies, not even just in superhero movies but any movie. Can't wait for you two to eventually notice that
The pup snoring is so funny! The fact that she's right in the mic as well and just sleeping her little life away lol.

Three things to know about MCU movies:
1. The end credit scenes - sometimes more than one in a movie - you already know about these.
2. The Stan Lee cameos.
3. A scene in every movie where someone jumps/falls/ejects from an aircraft.
Tony Stark's superpower is not the armor, it's his intelligence.
Did my girl just say "was iron man a comic first"? The actual audacity of that statement 😂😂
tbh i have no idea about comics i wasn’t around it, i have a younger sister! when you’re not around it ever when was the time i was supposed to venture that? i guess that makes me ignorant!
It also produces the energy the Iron Man suit needs to run.
crazy and awesome

"Why am I so into this?" BECAUSE IT'S REALLY GOOD. Christ it's hard to please young people these days!
Jon did a great job directing this movie!
love that! thanks for all of that we think Tony Stark is our fav so far even tho we only have one other option so far lol.

35:50, there actually is a reason why Tony survived. If you watch all of the MCU movies you will get the answer to the question he asks himself. There is also another Marvel character who survived something equally dire who asks the same question. The answer to both their questions are linked.

Iron Man 101: The device in Tony's chest is called an Arc Reactor, basically a mini fusion reactor. It powers the armors but it also powers the electromagent that is keeping the shrapnel from moving to his hart. So it isn't a pacemaker.
got you!
@@TheOctobersReact I would like to appoligive if I seem a litt;e passionate on the subject. I grew up with these characters and their stories as a kid and even a bit into my adult years.
completely understand
Most ppl miss the fact that Tony gets his inspiration for the mini-Arc reactor while he’s being tortured.. Biggest two problems with the suit, one they pass off with the arc reactor is the massive energy consumption. The one we have to “suspend disbelief” on is what Star Trek calls “inertial dampening.” If you crash in the suit, your body keeps going inside it and you’d be killed. Stand knew how to extract the arc reactor from Tony’s chest because he had Tony’s plans..
2:32 no when this came out Paramount owned these marvel characters, Disney bought them in 2012
wow didn’t know that! thanks for watching
He is the best in the whole MCU and the coolest man ever in the universe

Try to forget about Thanos for along time.
Lmao, 37:15 she said give me that scan thingy.. you mean a flash drive.. Yeah give me the usb thing.. LMAO
💯
The Ten Rings is a meta reference to an Iron Man villain called The Mandarin. He wore ten rings of alien manufacture that each gave him a different power.
In the MCU The Ten Rings is a terrorist organization akin to Batman's League of Shadows. In the comics Tony was wounded in Vietnam as that was the current war at the time. They updated it to the war zone of Afghanistan to make it more relevant to modern audiences. 😅
wow that’s so cool actually. thanks for sharing that!

that shot him out the sky from the tank still affected his body all the way to end of the saga. Every now and then Tony is always holding his left arm.
It’s explained when tony wakes up. The circle in his chest is an electromagnet that keeps the shrapnel in his bloodstream from entering his heart or wherever it is . By pulling it towards the magnet.
Yes according to the comic Ironman first verison of his suit was like this, then thru the 70-80-90s you get the suit you see now.
It’s crazy that this was his fully made armor way before he had nano-tech technology it’s just insane how far he made it
That thing he made in his suite is a miniature reactor that keeps the shrapnel out of his heart and powers his suite

That'll add some useful context in later MCU Spider-Man movies:
"Spider-Man" (2002)
"Spider-Man 2" (2004)
"Spider-Man 3" (2007)
"The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012)
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" (2014).
You've just dipped a toe into the MCU waters. And they'll keep getting better!
Robert Downey Jr. was great as Iron Man. I liked his sarcasm. Another movie you should react to its one favorites, The Final Countdown (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz.
Each heroes back story film are the best.
Pay attention to the dialogue bro. Shrapnel from the bomb got into his chest and the magnetic field he built keeps the metal out his heart which keeps him alive.
Congratulations!

Holy its been 15 years
This was Robert Downey Jr’s rise back into the good spotlight.

The published safe “MAX” altitude record was made by the now retired SR-71 Blackbird. The SR-71 could fly higher but that altitude remains classified, as does the photograph equipment it used. Cheers
