That was Howard the Duck that the very end, star of the worst Marvel movie ever made. Thus version is voiced by Seth Green.
The big blue guy Groot lifts by the nostrils in the prison was voiced by Nathan Fillion, one if the director's best friends.
Yondu's second in command, Kraglin, is played by the director's brother Sean Gunn. Sean also plays on-set Rocket, so the actors have someone to work with. Bradley Cooper voices him later.
Vin Diesel as Groot. "We are Groot," is the only time he doesn't say, "I am Groot."

Back when this movie released, most of us had no idea who the Guardians of the Galaxy are. You’ll get to know them better over the course of the MCU like we did.
A fun fact: aside from English, Vin Diesel voiced Groot in 15 other languages for this movie. For example, in Spanish he says “Yo soy Groot.”
Sean Gunn, the actor who portrays Yondu’s right-hand man Kraglin, is brother of the movie’s director James Gunn.
I’m letting you guys know this ahead of time: Volume 2 has not one not two but FIVE post-credit scenes total.
Some reactors have skipped them by accident. All I can say right now is that you won’t wanna miss them.

Really glad you loved this one! Like I said, while Avengers was really good and phase 1 helped set up a lot. I think Winter Soldier and Guardians is where the MCU was able to let go of it's shackles and really delve deep into genre esc. films (Winter Soldier - political spy thriller. Guardians - Comedy space adventure and you'll see it as it grows.) Cool tid bits - The Right hand man of Yondu, Kraglin is James Gunn brother, Sean Gunn. He also did the mo-cop(motion capture) for Rocket not just in this film, but for the future films. James Gunn did the motion capture for baby Groot at the end. And Vin Diesel even recorded "I am Groot" in other languages for the film.

Can't wait for you to fall even more in love with this motley crew!

  • @dylancole1910
    @dylancole1910 Год назад +4

Yes, you are correct this is the best movie and marvel trilogy of the mcu. These were comic books characters that were little known by even some of the most dedicated Marvel and comic book fans at the time, so Gunn really had full reign of these characters and had a lot freedom in constructing the story.
I can’t wait for you to see how these characters evolve over their three movies. Rocket and Nebula, and Drax especially. Rocket is my second favorite Marvel character of all time. He’s such an interesting character and has probably one of the most heartbreaking pasts in the comics. You’ll absolutely love him even more as you move through the mcu and the trilogy.
Yes, as you saw in the end credits Groot will definitely be back, but not the Groot from this film. Essentially is “son”. I look forward to your reaction to baby Groot in Vol. 2 it’s one of the main highlights of that film for sure. They may not be conventional superhero’s as is the usual formula of marvel hero’s as we’ve seen so far, but they will all be a significant part of what this whole storyline is leading up to.
The soundtrack is the best all through the series. Music is as you’ve seen, a very huge part of what makes these characters who they are and what makes it so easy to connect with them. I grew up on a lot of classics like this and it’s nice to see my tastes reflected in a major blockbuster franchise. There’s a lot of young people getting introduced to great music because of these movies and that’s really cool.

12 out of 10 is a very accurate. This is the strongest set of films about a group in MCU.
One of the great things about James Gunn and his direction is everyone in a scene is doing something. Even the extras. That means there are no pedestrians. Well . . . . except for the little gargoyle on Xandar that Rocket spotted.
Among names Rocket was called one was Ranger Rick. This is after a magazine and its Racoon mascot of the same name. In Marvel comics, Rockets was a ranger. Oh. James Gunn loves racoons. James was the Sakaaran who tried to get Yondu's cooperation but only got his yaka arrow. I do think he got the point. The bit explaining the Infinity Stones was written by James in about 1 1/2 hours. Sean Gunn played Yondu's XO Kraglin and did motion capture for onset Rocket. There was also a real racoon named Oreo that was used for modeling.
Who thought a tree and a talking racoon could win so many fans.
Vin Diesel had a couple thousand lines of dialogue given to him. This allowed him to inflect I am Groot to give the different meanings each time he said it.
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista nailed it.
What a team. What a film.
Karen Gillan was the ginger in Jumanji and Matt Smith's companion in Doctor Who. In real life she is nothing like Nebula. She's pretty goofy and sweet, actually. Gunn's direction to Karen was think of Clint Eastwood's voice and Marylin Monroe's walk. That's our Nebs.
Promise that after this movie James Gunn will never, ever make us cry again. I promise. 😪 Really. 😪 I really really promise. 😭 I'm not crying. 😭 You're crying. 😭

When I was a kid and read Marvel comic books, but this story had not been started. I had no idea what to expect. I loved this movie. So much fun. Vin Diesel is the voice of Groot. The space dog is Cosmo, you'll meet him again soon. The duck was Howard the Duck one of the very first marvel movies in the 80s. Peter's ship is named the Milano, after Alyssa Milano who was all the young kids crushes from being on a show 'who's the boss?' around the time when Peter was abducted. If you ever watch again pay attention to the shirt young Peter was wearing, and the pink girl who was in the ship when he makes his escape in the beginning. Same t-shirt. Bunch more but you have other things to do 😂 🤣 😂 👍

Gaurdians of the Galaxy was sort of a deepcut before this movie took off...they had many lineups over the years (none of which were insanely popular by sales standards) in the comics and they picked some of their faves and did a really great unique take on them... mix in good music and it's an instant classic... The guy who created Rocket Raccoon got to see his character on the big screen in a special screening right before he died... up until that point he had lived in anonymity since the character had never really been all that popular.

Mantlo suffered severe head trauma. According to his biographer, cartoonist David Yurkovich, in 2006, "For a while Bill was comatose. Although no longer in a coma, the brain damage he suffered in the accident is irreparable. His activities of daily living are severely curtailed and he resides in a healthcare facility where he receives full-time care."...When Marvel Studios produced Guardians of the Galaxy, they negotiated a compensation package for the rights to Rocket Raccoon. Mantlo's brother credited this arrangement for ensuring he would have care for the rest of his life. They also arranged for Mantlo to have private screenings of that film and its sequel."

He insisted I'd like Guardians of the Galaxy, as I used to read a lot of books about space outlaws. I was interested, until he mentioned a talking raccoon and Vin Diesel as a tree. There are six Infinity Stones and each holds somewhat different powers.
The power stone is the most straight forward in that gives the wielder lots of raw power. It makes them the physically strongest being in the universe, can project destructive energy that can wipe out all life on small planets, and it acts as a battery to magnify the powers of the other stones so that their powers can work on a universal scale. I won't spoil anything but to list the other five stones' names and granted abilities - because the movies don't do much to ever explain what each stone does, just periodically shows the stone doing something: The space stone (allowing control over movement/space, which can also open a gate for the wielder to travel through anywhere in space, the reality stone (can alter reality in a relatively small area around the wielder to whatever the wielder can imagine, such as making temporary illusions or turning a laser blast into soap bubbles), the time stone (which gives the wielder power to reverse time or form a time loop or project their mind into the future to view possible futures), the soul stone (allowing the wielder control over the soul and essence of a person giving life or death and also is the portal to the soul domain), and the mind stone (which can grant sentience or allow the wielder to control the minds of others while being immune to mental attacks themselves).
