Then waited 3 days for our nations memory span to let us forget hes a pervert harrassing kids. Then give him the greenlight to direct Guardians again.
I HATE that these are my favorite Marvel movies. Gunn doesnt deserve the admiration. Because its true the guy can direct the shit out of a movie.
You should watch all three movies. Guardians is the best that ever happend to Marvel. All the movies with Guradians are FANTASTIC

Just so there's no confusion moving forward, the Baby Groot sprouting at the end is an offspring of the original, not the original regrowing. This was a point of contention for a while until James Gunn spoke up and cleared things up.
The soundtrack to all 3 GoTG movies is AMAZING.

After i lost my wife to cancer last year these fuckin marvel movies all make me cry on rewatches. But james gunn and taiku specifically put the right music in to fuck you up man. Genius

Quill was about 10 when he was abducted in 1988. When you think about it, that when his education stopped. Him being “stupid” isn’t all his fault.
He was eight. He says so in the third movie.
Groot has the best fourth wall break ever after he thrashes the bad guys around. That little smile, like he’s sheepishly pleased with himself. Like he’s saying, “Did you guys see that? You see what I just did?” 🤭😂😂

I never thought about it before. But when groot gave the little girl on nowhere the flower it was probobly the first flower she had ever seen.

Gunn worked on all three _Guardians_ movies _plus_ the _Guardians Holiday Special,_ and that's it for his MCU directoral work. In the DC movies, he directed _THE Suicide Squad,_ easily the best of the DCEU, and its spinoff series _Peacemaker._ (ETA Gunn has also made a couple of independent superhero flicks: the dark comedy _Super_ (2010), about a "normal world" costumed vigilante, and the 2019 horror drama _Brightburn,_ which is kind of "imagine _Superman: The Movie_ but it's really _The Omen.")_
It took HUGE GUTS to build up Ronan as this mortifying unstoppable horror and then clown him like that, two steps away from a Three Stooges bit. But it worked!
The duck is Howard the Duck. Fantastic character.

I couldn’t imagine myself liking a movie with a tree and a talking raccoon, but Guardians ranks in my top 5 Marvel movies. I love this film. 😁💖
The actress playing Nebula is in Jumanji, she’s the dance fighter
At the end, if you grew up in the 70's and 80' s you should know that was Howard the Duck with the collector. He was part of Marvel comics and was from outerspace.
Groot did die the baby is son but baby Groot thinks rocket is his father Gamora is his mother Star-Lord is his older brother and Drax is his crazy uncle.
Rocket in guardians 3 would make a grown man cry

The duck at the end is Howard the Duck another Marvel character. Check out his movie way back in 1986 with Lea Thompson. Guys our age will remember her from Back to the Future as Marty's mom. Nice little Easter egg, all the young people in the theater were googling to find out who that was.

I’d also recommend watching the Christmas Special before watching GotG 3, as there’s some fairly pertinent information that gets passed on.
Eventual, if you follow the release schedule of the movies and tv series, you'll need to watch the Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special before part 3.....

Loved you guys calling Ronan a “Homicidal Gallagher” mostly because I just introduced my 17 year old to Gallagher’s stand up a couple of weeks ago 😆 he thought Gallagher was hilarious. The Guardians of the Galaxy movies are some of my least favorite in the MCU, but it is always a joy to watch you guys have fun! Keep the positive vibes coming! I am very much looking forward to Age of Ultron!

The guardian movies are my fav marvel movies, even over infinity war and endgame which are usually the fan favorites
The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy are my favorite movies and Characters outside of Spider-Man and Captain America in the MCU. It really is one of the most unique stories in this franchise.
I grew up with this kind of music because it was all my parents played and I developed a deep love for it. It’s weird being in my mid 20s and being the only one in a friend group that knows all these artists. I love it when I have something that can connect me to the people I’m watching. Your generation didn’t really cross my mind though until the music started. I think it’s great though having a classic soundtrack because it has introduced many young people and some of my own friends to some great music. 😄
I'm a little younger than you guys, the nostalgia music for me was 80's pop rock, my dad was obsessed with INXS, Cold Chisel, John Farnham, and you're right, since he passed I get a lot of comfort from going back and listening to those old songs.

I’m with you! I too grew up with this music. These songs weren’t a part of my collection but hearing them today still brings back memories. I’m a 60 year old disabled veteran.
Best movie soundtrack by far
Howard The Duck (the duck who shows up at the end) starred in the first ever Marvel movie made for theatrical release back in the 1980s. It's widely regarded as one of the worst movies ever made though and it was a box-office disaster, so I wouldn't recommend you rush out and watch it.
Disagree. It's so bad it's good. Definitely worth a watch.

It was so bad it killed the comic. The character was actually one of the better ones being a satire on society. Tag line was Trapped in a universe he never made. One of the earliest references to the multiverse but not the earliest.

35:30 this scene with quill dropping the orb was actually a blooper, but the director decided to keep it in the movie
I too am "the old guy" lol. I grew up in the 70s, and love this soundtrack with all my heart. So many great memories. I also love the way you combined Del Taco, and Taco Bell. Del Taco is so much better than "the bell" though. I wish they would spread to the east coast too. BTW, that last scene was featuring "Howard the Duck" (also a Marvel Comics character, and star of his own movie back in the 80s.)

Regarding power scaling for the MCU you have to note that some characters are stronger or weaker than the comic book version. For example Steve in the comic book it is maximum could only lift 6 tons which is what the MCU version could could lift but every time you see him he gets stronger like in the Winter soldier his maximum was 9 tons then later he's much stronger around 15 tons. Drax in the comic books is much stronger and then the MCU version but at this time he's at least 10 times stronger than Captain America the Winter soldier Steve Rogers which is about 90 tons. Gamora was stronger in the comic books too but currently she's about three times stronger than Winter soldier movie Steve Roger and the only reason gamora and Drax seem weak compared to Ronan because Ronan is equal to Thor. Also when Ronan has the power stone he's equal to the Hulk so of course you would think Drax the destroyer is weak compared to Ronan. Also Ranon with the power stone is equal to the hulk base level strength because the Hulk gets stronger angry he gets in the longer a fight goes on. Not to say there aren't characters that are stronger than the Hulk base level strength one of them being Thanos.
While there are two more movies don't skip the Guardians Holiday special. See it after volume two as It will help in avoiding questions before you see volume three.

Hey, old guys, I'm an old person too. For reference, KC and The Sunshine Band was my favorite band when I was 4.
I don't watch these in order, I haven't watched Infinity War because losing Groot in this one was hard enough, and I'm not interested enough in Ironman. I treat the MCU like a Choose Your Own Adventure book.

the guardians were my absolute favorite group in the mcu. james gunn wrote and directed the entire gotg trilogy. I love them even as their own standalone universe, which when they first came out they kinda were.

I AM in generation (an official Oldhead), and the first time I saw this movie when it came out it became my favorite, and all of the music was nostalgic. You guys are catching up... a little (yeah no way he was leaving his cassette player behind, it was from his mother). Rownan with an infinite stone could have been a real threat to Thanos. Re: Yandu, you will have to eat crow when it comes to the second one. It wasn't the troll doll he was liking, it's Peter, he was kinda proud that he one upped him. Also at the end was "Howard the Duck" a comic that was made into a movie staring Leah Thompson (I actually enjoyed... I was young (lol))

Seeing you 2 doing this brings me back to the old 28 hr shows back in 05 & 06.
The Jackson Pollock joke I always thought was a bit out of place for Peter to remember him 26 years later (unless he had like a book or pamphlet about him in his backpack). I guess, maybe we could imagine, it was him and his mom going to a museum was one of the last things they did together before she got sick.
I think going backwards could have been fine. See the end first to see how things got there, then see why it got to that.

Technically there are 3 more Guardians movies, Volume 2, the holiday special, and Volume 3 (in that order).
Cool that you guys kept the WHOLE "MARVEL"-intro. Many reactors cut that out, but it gets you pumped up for the movie! Nice nod to Stan Lee as well.

Lee Pace plays the homicidal Gallagher a.k.a. Ronan the Accuser. He wields what is known as a Cosmi-Rod even if it looks like a Warhammer. It is the symbol of his authority to accuse and execute judgment on the enemies of The Kree Empire.
The other blue skinned Kree cyborg is Korath The Pursuer a tracker and rifle wielding member of the Kree StarForce a crack team of commandos. 😅
There is a reason Gamora, a daughter of Thanos, is feared. She has a reputation as the Most Dangerous Woman in the Universe. Trained in martial arts, weapons training both blade and ranged weapons. She is the ultimate assassin. 😮
It was Ronan the Accuser who killed Drax's wife Ovette and daughter Kamoria. But it was on the orders of Thanos. So he blames them both. 😮
The Orb is merely a container...by itself it does nothing but conceal its contents...the Infinity Stone known as the Power Stone...😮

For the younger viewers of this video before digital music, or Compact discs there was a device in most people's home. A radio. Capable of receiving transmissions of music via Radio Tower antennas. The two formats of radio are A.M. short for Amplitude Modulation and F.M. for Frequency Modulation. For myself I listened to F.M. broadcasts primarily. Most cars still have a button for A. M. And F.M. radio. Now you know what that stands for. 😅
The Space Dog astronaut is named Cosmo. The humanoid Duck is Howard the Duck created by Steve Gerber published by Marvel comics back in the seventies. 😂
Yondu Udonta's weapon is a Yaka Arrow. He controls it via frequency transmitted from the cybernetic fin which is a Yaka Arrow controller on his head. 😮

This was my first reaction for your page. Loved the generational outlook on films. I will be watching a lot moving forward. Also I grew up with this music in the background as well. I’m only 33 but my parents knew how to spark a big love for older music, it’s actually my preference. 😊
After you guys watch all the way back up to Infinity War u should rewatch Infinity War before Endgame since now you know all the characters and understand the greater story's better

The Guardians trilogy is easily the best of the MCU and the Guardians 3 is one of my all time favourite movies. Personally I preferred it to Endgame and it has the worst (best) villain.

If you start the MCU with Endgame, why not run with it and watch the MCU backwards, lol. James Gunn has four Marvel projects, 3 volumes of the Guardians movies and a Guardians Christmas special that is awesome. He has been an executive producer on many projects, though, including Infinity War and Endgame. He was one of the major architects of the MCU after Guardians 1. There are not a lot of people that have done more to make the MCU great. Kevin Fiege, The Russo Brothers, and Jon Favreau, it's a short list.
