You need to see the making of/reflection documentary "Never Give Up, Never Surrender." Fantastic. This was 1999, so Sam Rockwell did this and The Green Mile and Darryl Chill Mitchell (Laredo) did this and the teacher in 10 Things I Hate About You. Shaloub was playing his character as being very stoned. Rickman and Tim didn't get along for some of the same reasons as their characters. In a serious scene, Tim Allen needed a minute to deal with the emotions. "He just discovered acting," - Alan Rickman. There was a deleted scene that explains why her outfit gets unzipped. Enrico Collantoni auditioned fir Malthazar abd played it straight. The director abd producers weren't impressed. He asked to try it again using so acting voice techniques abd pretty much developed the Thermian was of speaking on the spot. He was hired to train all the other actors how to be Thermians.
Considered a love letter to the fanbase of sci-fi, especially the spaceship part of said genre. This is the way I think most parodies and comedies should be in general. In-universe, the fanbase helping the MC's out were a large part of why it doesn't come across negatively as it could have. It treated the fan characters with respect rather than dissing them.
I think you’d have to give Star Trek credit for getting the whole convention thing going. I think it was up in New York in the early 70s, They put together a signing and were able to get together several members of the original crew, somebody rented out a hotel space, they expected 5 to 600 people and something like 5000 turned up. The rest is history. Yes, those days conventions were definitely considered as geek, nerd gatherings. But there was no Internet back then, that’s how a lot of fans networked back in the day. Did you catch the joke behind Sigourney saying “vents, why is it always vents?“ and when she turns the corner and sees the chompers, you can clearly see what she actually said is “fuck that”. The location of the beryllium spheres was specifically selected to look like the old location from Star Trek. And yes, nice catch on the Sam Rockwell, rudimentary lathe, that was a direct joke about Captain Kirk building a cannon to fight the Gorn.
I love Alan Rickman but very few see his favourite performance of mine in Truly, Madly, Deeply. A British film from 1990. It has such a different tone from his American movies.
The thing is that this is not only a love letter to Trek, but a love letter to all the fans of it too. The "geeks" with their knowledge and love for the show save the day.
When Tim Allen was filming the scene where he explains that they lied, he had to leave the set and return to his trailer for a time because the scene was bringing up feelings for him. As Tim was leaving, Alan Rickman said, "Oh my God, he's finally experienced acting".
Also, the decision to cast Sigourney Weaver, the quintessential badass leading lady, as the character who written to be little more than eye candy... sheer genius. You immediately get from casting ALONE that the actress is so much more than the role allowed her to be. It's what makes her "It's STUPID" line so wonderful.
Originally, they didn't want her because she was such a big name in the sci-fi world and they wanted to stay clear of that. Luckily she was relentless in her pursuit.

This movie works so well because it's an homage rather than a parody... a love-letter to the sci-fi genre. Such a well-done film and a personal favourite, glad you guys enjoyed it!
Not only an homage to sci-fi, but to the fandom. This was made by fans for fans. It's a shame they don't make more movies that really get their fans the way this does.
It is a part of why The Orville worked, people who loved the source material. The story of Jonathan Frakes and Patrick Stewart reacting to Galaxy Quest is amazing. :-)
I'm a big Star Trek fan so when I first saw this...I burst with happiness. ❤ It's so funny and made so well. Even the cast of TNG had nothing but praise for it. I'm pretty sure most Trekkies/Trekkers consider this to be a real Trek movie. 😂 I'm happy you guys finally watched it!
I love how the Grabthar's Hammer line starts out as something that Alan Rickman can't stand saying, yet when he delivers it for the last time, it's one of the most heartfelt lines in the movie.
So nearly all of the direct references were cut out of the movie, but Fred(Tony Shaloub) is absolutely baked the entire time. That's why he's eating and so calm. The only subtle reference left in the film is when they first all arrive at the star base, you'll notice that when Tony's pod opens, a bunch of smoke also comes out. He literally hotboxed himself on the way to the ship. Also, I have seen this movie a dozen times and never noticed Alan pulling his prosthetic back down when the Thermians came into the conference room, good catch.
There's other references you can see where they adjusted the content to be more family friendly. For instance, when Sigourney Weaver's character has to go through the crushing pistons, her dub says, "Screw this!" but her mouth says, "Fvck this!" Her blouse is also rather strategically damaged as well, but they couldn't fix that in post. ;)
Im going to leave a quote from Johnathan Franks (Commander Riker STTNG). "I was at the CineramaDome in LA, and I saw it on a Saturday morning, or Saturday matinee. As I got out of the movie the first thing I did was call Patrick, who was in Toronto, I think, shooting X-Men. I said, “Dude, I just saw a movie that is about us and captures us like they’ve been reading our mail.” Patrick saw it that night. Then went again on the Sunday. And it was, I mean, some of the stuff in it is so on the nose and so accurate, and perfect, and funny. And Rickman. Rickman with the peeling makeup. Stuff that LeVar’s character does. I mean, it’s a favorite. I don’t know why that sequels never been made. I gather it’s encumbered with a lot of people who need money before they even shot, but this seems rife for a remake." Such an amazing movie. It is indeed a love letter to the show and the fans. From what I understand, the bathroom scene is based on something that happened to Shatner. You need to watch "Never Surrender: A Galaxy Quest Documentary" about how it got made.
Yeah, I've heard countless times the bathroom scene at the con was based on Shatner overhearing basically the same thing while in a bathroom at a con. I know both he and Leonard Nimoy had their moments like that of them turning their backs on the fans and the show (Nimoy famously writing his "I am Not Spock" book) but then both turning around again to embrace the legacy and the fans (Nimoy writing a second book, "I AM Spock" taking back the things he said previously). But I can't remember if that bathroom moment was the point Shatner had turned away, or was the reason he chilled out and came back around. I do know it was an important moment in his life.

They obviously didn't want to do it while he was sick so they waited for him to pull through and when he didn't, well a loss is all the more heartbreaking when you were pulling for a win and none of them felt right doing it without him.
Here's a little funny fact, even if minor. When the crew first meets the aliens in their natural forms with Sam Rockwell screaming. Apparently, he wasn't meant to and just improvised the scream. Due to it being unscripted, Sigourney Weaver actually screams from being startled. Also, when they get hit by the torpedo, they're actually on a moving stage that mimics the impact of the blasts. There was no camera sway, they really were being thrown around.
Yep. the whole bridge area was built on a gigantic gimbal. I remember a conversation between Tim and Daryl on the making of this movie where they were wondering how safe it would be because the construction crew said "never built one of these before..."
This is one of my all time favorite movies. Like you said, it's wholesome, it's hysterical, and it's actually kind of touching. Infinitely quotable and infinitely rewatchable. I LOVE the fact that there is a Galaxy Quest reference in the animated Disney film, Bolt, when the fanboy hamster Rhino skips off after talking with his hero Bolt while chanting, "Larak Tarath", the Mak'tar chant of strength, similar to Quellek getting to use the same chant with his beloved hero and father-figure, Dr. Lazarus.
It's still impressive thinking about how much of a cult following this movie attracted. It's become a classic for the ages! They were going to make a sequel, but due to the untimely passing of Alan Rickman, the cast and crew unanimously decided it wouldn't be appropriate to do it without him. R.I.P Alan. I think you can always feel if a parody/satire is made out of spite or as an homage. Yes, they make fun of many Star Trek tropes. But at the same time they celebrate them and the fandom that loves them. While delivering a very solid sci-fi movie. The end twist really got me the first time. Alan Rickman's character is SO much fun to watch and him getting to that turning point of saying the line he hates, the line fans keep saying to him over and over, sincerely actually caring gets me every time.
Agreed! Only Alan Rickman could have shown that change in Alexander's character so perfectly. His disgust at the line is so obvious, hilarious, and well done every time, and then when he's quoting it to Quellek it really is so moving. Rickman was an absolute legend. ❤
Absolutely. Take a couple of modern shows-"Peacemaker" and "The Boys." Both are satires of the superhero genre but one is a very gentle , loving look at the tropes by a director that loves it and the other one is a wholesale attack on the very concept of of superheroes. Both are expertly done but they have very different messages.
It always makes me a little sad when people are all "It's Dwight!" "It's the Russian chick from Dodgeball" and no one recognizes Enrico. Just Shoot Me was one of the funniest sitcoms of the 90s. The episode where he and David Spade give Wendy Malick the fake word of the day calendar to get ready for her NPR interview is still gold.
He was also the reason the Thurmians were as wonderful as they were. He created the voice, the clap, the walk. To the point where the director said to the rest of the actors "Just do what Enrico is doing."
The fun thing about casting Sigourney Weaver is: they didn't. They didn't want any big Sci_Fi actor names. Sigourney Weaver REALLY wanted to play this role and begged for it. ^^ So awesome, that extra element of knowing an actor is playing a role because they love it, not just as a paycheck.
It would be a blast. Ripley is no lightweight in this cast. But imagine sitting around morning coffee table with Rickman and Rockwell. My mind would be blown.
I watched a documentary on this film. It was originally to be R but studio needed a family movie so it was scratch it or convert it. I’m so glad they chose to keep it. Great movie and Alan Rickman delivery of his avenging line is my favorite just enough seriousness to even things out. They really need to make more movies like this film.
I love how Sigourney actually lets loose the F-bomb when she first sees "the chompers" and they had to edit it to "screw that" to make it a family friendly movie. Saw it when I was in my early teens, so it felt like a dirty little secret and I loved it
the "before one of those things kills Guy!" might be my favorite joke in the whole movie lmfao. it's said so quickly and they move on so quickly, it can easily be missed!
I love watching all the Galaxy Quest reactions, it's one of my favorite movies, but your reaction is the one I keep coming back to! 😄👍🏻 Something I just realized during this watch is that the more Alan Rickman's character, Alexander, embraces his Galaxy Quest character, Dr. Lazarus, the more of HIM (Alex) shines through, i.e. the cap coming loose, his hair poking out, etc. 😄 It's like he finds freedom in embracing the character he's tired of portraying!
Theres a great bit from patrick stewart on galaxy quest you should all look up He said he originally didnt want to see it because he heard it was mocking star trek then jonathan frakes talked him into it and he loved it. His favorite part was that it really spotlighted the fans and their love of the show is really what saved the day and the relationship between them and their characters, the special impact they have on their lives. Personally my favorite moment is when hes shot with his dying breath he says dr lazarus was like a father to him. A lot of viewers may not have the most fulfilling lives, perhaps missing important role models and the show is what was there for them. To these superfans the characters are like family and love them as such and galaxy quest hits that nail on the head bith with the thermians and the kids on earth.
I tell everybody who says that Rickman did a phenomenal rendition of "disgust" as Snape to watch this film. Every single scene with him is absolute perfection.
Not only is this a perfect movie, but it also becomes more perfect every time you watch it. I am surprised that you didn't mention the aspect ratio changes in the film. For the original casting they did not want anyone who had been in a sci-fi film. Sigourney Weaver had read the script and fought to get into the movie. The Thermians said that they are from the Klatu nebula. Klaatu is the name of the alien who comes to Earth in the film classic The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Apparently Jonathan Frakes told Patrick Stewart about this and Stewart wanted nothing to do with it because he thought they just made fun of Star Trek and nothing else. But then he was convinced to watch it at the cinema and eventually loved it.
Same thing happened with Red Dwarf. Stewart heard about it didn’t think much, rumour is he even called his lawyer to check about possible copyright infringement but when he watched it he loved it and even hosted an outtakes or ‘Smegups’ special. Seems Sir Patrick is a bit reactionary at times but is more than willing to change his mind once he takes time to check things out properly.
@@lordomacron3719 to be fair for every red dwarf or galaxy quest there are a dozen cheap shoddy blatant rip offs and mean spirited cruel send ups which show the shows the actors and the fans in a bad light.
The scene where Guy says, "Is there air?!? You don't know!" Is a favorite of mine because it was not in the script. Tim was really into it and argued that they should do some checks (like for air). But they said no. The next take, Sam through that in and it just kills me.
If you guys enjoyed this (because it is one off the nicest fan tribute movies I have ever seen), and if Oak is familiar with con culture, I really recommend the movie "Paul". Just make sure to get the extended cut. I think you guys will get a huge kick out of it. I love Galaxy Quest so much. Even tho it's technically a parody, it never belittles or is cruel towards Star Trek or Star trek fans. It pokes fun, but in a way that makes it clear the film is in on the joke, not trying to make anything look stupid. I think most parodies have a real mean streak towards the thing its parodying. but Galaxy Quest proves you can poke good hearted fun at something while also paying tribute to it and singing its praises and reminding people why we love these kinds of shows and fan culture.
What an amazing reaction to a fantastic movie! On top of that, hearing Oak talk about his experience at conventions and seeing the enthusiasm of the fans was really heartwarming. As someone who's worked in conventions for a while now, let me tell you, it never gets old seeing the love people have for their various fandoms and the creative ways they choose to express that. Glad he's gotten to see some of that world and I hope the other guys get a chance to as well. Great insights guys! Keep being awesome!
Alan Rickman was funny because he played it like a serious actor relegated to a space-opera serial. Every time he said his line, a piece of him died, until he recited it for Quellick.
I was so incredibly surprised by this movie. A friend forced me to watch it, and I absolutely LOVED it. I'm not a Trekkie by any means, but growing up, I definitely watched the original movies and TNG, so I recognized the loving homage to the show, to the actors who play beloved characters, and to fandom in general. I love that they seemed to understand that for some folks fandom can give them friends, a sense of belonging, and a sense of self. More than anything though, I was surprised by how much heart this movie has. On top of being hilarious and so much fun, I remember feeling genuinely heart broken when Mathesar finds out they were "lying", and is just so sad over it. I've seen this movie a few times, and I always love it and I always laugh. I've yet to see a reactor who didn't really enjoy it. ❤
my dad grew up as a Trekkie and I grew up watching Star Trek as well. When we watched this together, my dad was in absolute fits of laughter and he is a pretty stoic guy who doesn't often show emotions with cinema. Adore this movie so much and so glad to be a part of your journey experiencing it!
The part where the Tim Allen character overheard the teens making fun of him was supposedly based on an actual experience that Willam Shatner had at a convention.
It always suprises me when people say that they've never seen this movie. It was one of my favorites as a kid. My grandpa had it on VHS and my cousin and I wore it out watching it so much. It was one of those movies that didn't stop being funny upon rewatch - if anything, you catch and understand more each time. And of course we still watch it from time to time... and we're usually super baked which just makes it more enjoyable. (Side note, I totally did not get as a kid that Tony's character is so chill because he's baked all the time. We had a blast figuring that out! lol)
My most re-watchable movie of all time. "Is there air? You don't know!" It makes mild fun of the shows, but the heroes of the story are the fans of the show, their love of the show being vindicated.
I'm so happy you guys loved this one! Galaxy Quest is a movie that is dear to my heart! My friends and I in high school and even in college, we would quote this movie ALL THE TIME! We still watch it at my friend's house every Christmas with her family and it has become a tradition! Never give up, Never surrender!
I love this movie. When they reveal the ship for the first time, I always think about how a fan would react seeing the Enterprise, the Millennium Falcon, the Serenity of any of the great star ships actually in front of them. The joy, the amazement, awe and tears seeing a ship that you have watched and dreamed about right there in front of you.
That’s why the first Star Trek movie spends so long showing off the “new” Enterprise. Instead of awful old tv resolution with bad color (or none!), here she is on a massive screen with crazy resolution, different panels with shimmering highlights in different colors…here’s everything you couldn’t see before. This is as real as we can make it.

It was cool to see this in the theater, because the movie starts with the curtains drawn a bit. It's subtle enough that you may not notice. Then, when convention starts, the curtains also retracted, as the screen ratio changes. It was an interesting experience - listening to the motors & realizing that you've been watching the movie in 4:3. I am glad that you guys finally got around to seeing this one. I'm also glad that for the most part, none of you really knew much about the film. When it came out, the trailers spelled out a lot of what the movie was about - even the basic plot. The result is that there are a few parts, where twists had reduced impact, because you were expecting them. A few scenes also had reduced impact, because they were in the trailer. As I understand it, the initial response was a bit underwhelming. I'd guess that part of it was because the trailers presented it as far goofier than it actually was. When you take it as a whole, it ends up being a pretty competent sci-fi action/adventure movie. It wasn't just a comedy Star Trek parody/spoof. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. It's still one of my favorite films. It's one of the few that I see a few times per year. I also enjoy reliving the experience through reactions like yours. 7.7 on your reaction.

LOVE this movie! Very funny & entertaining. But I still get teary eyed when Quellek is shot & tells Dr. Lazarus he's has been like father figure to him. Alexander Dane, as Dr. Lazarus (RIP Alan Rickman) recites the catch phrase he formerly hated, now with genuine emotion.
When the commander has to explain they were lying and when Dr Lazarus actually says his line with real feeling you realize it’s not just cheesy, even sci-fi has real emotion behind it 😭
I freaking love this movie. I saw it with a fellow Star Trek fan in the theaters in 99. A few days earlier I’d been shopping at a religious book store and when I pulled out my Star Trek visa and little nun at the register grabbed my arm and said “you have to see Galaxy quest!” She was a massive trek fan and she loved the movie getting all the trek references. So I went and it’s now one of my favorite movies. I just love it.
The writing is so good. It's kind of a parody but it's more like a comedic love letter to trek and it's place in pop culture. There are several clever setups and payoffs. A few nice emotional moments. And it's just lighthearted and fun.
I'm so surprised this wasn't 5's across the board. One of my family's all time favorite movies. So quotable, all star cast, hilarious, etc. Rewatchable for sure!
So, they deleted the scene that explains Tony Shalhoub's character to keep the rating PG-13, but basically he's high the entire time. That's why he's always snacking and is just completely unphased by everything that's going on.
The transporter was designed using human anatomy (that’s what the one guy said) so that’s why they never had a successful transportation. It’s also why the pig lizard turned inside out but Tagger survived.
I'm 54, and i remembered as a kid coming across an article that had featured a plot that had members of the original star trek cast using the transporter and re materialize on a studio set of the transporter and how the crew tried to question their reality, Galaxy Quest gave me closure😂. Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver, Dean Stockwell and Tim Allen great performances.

Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard) said he hesitated to see the film at first, until Jonathan Frakes (Will Riker) told him to go see it, and to see it with a group of fans. He said he's never laughed harder in his life. Tim Russ (Tuvok from Star Trek Voyager) referred to Galaxy Quest as a "Laugh a minute. Right on point." Brannon BRaga, Co-Producer on Star Trek Voyager and Enterprise said "We may be out of a job." William Shatner, rather wryly said "I have no idea who Tim Allen is supposed to be." George Takei "They got Bill exactly right." The one thing I think a lot of people may not realize is just how much this film popularized comic conventions. Before this it was still very niche. It wasn't long after this film came out in the early 2000s that Comic Con REALLY took off going into the 21st Century. The film was originally rated R with more explicity language. Several seens are cut with Tony Shalob's character because they more overtly depicted him as being a fan of Satan's lettuce. (That is why he's so clam about everything and carrying around his brown bag of snacks.) With the R rating I don't know that this film would have worked as well. The aim was to be a little edgier and crasser, but I don't think it would have been nearly as successful in being a tonal send up to Star Trek, or Science Fiction fandom. As it is now it rides that line and pokes fun at it, but also has a very clear love and admiration for fandom. After all, it is the fans that really save the day in this movie. There were talks to do a sequel, and a TV series, but when Alan Rickman passed away nobody in the original cast wanted to do it. There is an "E!" documentary on Galaxy Quest, as if it were a real TV show. You can find it here on RUclips. It basically turns into a commercial for the movie. There was a fan site for the movie and the tv show called "questarian" which featured fake episode synopsis, prop images, BTS images. I actually think Galaxy Quest is better than Spaceballs. I love Spaceballs, but Galaxy Quest has the ability to make fun o fmore than one thing at the same time. Spaceballs is basically aimed at the Science Fiction genre for comedy, but Qalaxy Quest has more avenues to poke fun at Science Fiction, Fandom, etc etc... Great reaction guys. I'm subsribing now and going to start digging into your back catalogue.
I will never stop laughing at this film: it's perfection. I'm so happy you enjoyed it so much! I'm sure that someone will mention it, but Tony's character was meant to be high. They sanitized or cut a few scenes to lower the rating on release, so we have a pretty clean, family friendly film. Personally, I think not knowing for sure what's up with him adds to the humor.
As someone who grew up with the original Star Trek, I'm always amused and confused when people today call it "cheesy." When it first aired, both the writing and the effects were so far beyond any earlier science fiction shows on TV, it was groundbreaking. It garnered such a fan base that a massive letter-writing campaign kept it on the air for a third season. (Which may have been unfortunate, since most of the episodes that truly were "cheesy" were from the third season.) And the huge Star Trek fan conventions that began after the series was cancelled were unprecedented.
Life long Star Trek fan, and really all sci fi I can get my hands on. Blake 7, Red Dwarf, Farscape, you name it, I've watched it. THIS was a perfect movie. It's such a huge homage the cheesy corny campiness but in a very sincere and thankful way. And it's a huge thanks to the fans everywhere, no matter how weird and into it they are, who keep it alive. The amount of raw disdain Rickman puts into his lines in this is ridiculous. But him giving his line at the end as the guy dies in his arms... that hits hard.
As someone who watched every episode of Star Trek TOS as they aired, TNG, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and every movie this is the best Star Trek movie ever and a love letter to the fandoms that attend conventions. Tony Sheloub's character was supposed to be high all the time but they cut that explanation for his attitude and snacking out of the movie. I wanted to go to XenaCon so bad but missed my opportunity. Now they don't have them anymore. I *do* have a Xena costume I wear at RenFest though on Heroes weekend.
I've been in SFI* over 20 years; Trek fans love this and waited in vain for a sequel. It's often called one of the best Star Trek movies. Many of the references are to Shatner and Nimoy's personal turmoils. Shatner was unpopular and feuded with cast. Nimoy regretted writing his "I Am Not Spock" book for decades, then finally wrote, "I Am Spock" to clear the air. And Shatner famously ranted at "convention fans" in a SNL skit, "Get a life!" I love this movie and have watched it so many times. I'm a huge Star Trek fan and this is such an awesome take on it and how crazy we fans are about our shows! Everyone was perfectly cast too! It works on so many levels!
The movie is loaded with great lines, with my two favorites being: "Why are we still listening to this man? May I remind you, he's wearing a costume, not a uniform!" and "Well, you're just going to have to find out what it wants. What is its motivation." "It's a rock, it doesn't have any motivation!" The character Fred Kwan(Tony Shalhoub) was so calm and just enjoying the ride throughout the movie because in the original cut he was supposed to be high. Any references to this was removed to make the movie more family friendly.
I love the "I don't know how to shut down a neutron reactor. And unless you took an anex learning course, neither do you." And his answer, "But I know someone who does!" BOOM!
My dad is and will always be a Trekkie and so I grew up with Star Trek on tv in the background, the OG, TNG, DS9, all of the movies. This movie is an honorary Star Trek film in all its rights. And, for me, it is in my top 5 movies in my personal list. I like movies that make me laugh, but also have true heart. There are certainly better cinematic classics out there and at least one is there on my top 5 list, but this one stands out as something separate and special.
Wish they had a sequel, and there were talks, but after Alan Rickman passed away, it would be impossible to do. There is a documentary (Never Surrender: A Galaxy Quest Documentary) about the movie and it is definitely worth watching
Saw this at the theatre back in 99. I was working security at a local cineplex at the time. I loved it immediately and have always felt that it’s vastly underrated.
The Rock Monster fight..... when Sam Rockwell's character says 'Can you manufacture a makeshift lathe'. I always viewed that as a direct reference to that Gorn fight(the big lizard man), when Kirk made a makeshift cannon.
Back when I worked at Blockbuster, I always thought this movie looked dumb, because I judged it by its cover. Last year, I finally caved and decided to watch this “dumb-looking” film, because I was tired of hearing how amazing it was. So I watched it. Then I watched it two more times in three days. I ADORE this movie, and similar to “RRR,” I have never been so happy to be so wrong. 😊
I consider this a perfect movie, glad you enjoyed it so much. The parallel between the rock monster and the Gorn goes ones step further - the lathe suggestion IS a reference to Kirk's manufacture of the cannon. Also, Rickman's portrayal of the struggle of the actor with his character is parallel to Nimoy's with Spock. Nimoy even wrote two books about it. There were Enterprise blueprints for the fans back in the 70s, and books and encyclopedias (ask me how I know!) so having computerized versions in the 90s was right in step. Speaking of, the registry number "NTE" stands for Not The Enterprise. Fun reaction!!!
Oh I’m going 5/5. Perfectly balanced script between comedic parody and loving homage, of the OG Star Trek, of the convention scene and the super fans. We the the audience of Galaxy Quest are in this meta state of knowing this film is fake and completely populated with actors, and yet we’re totally sucked into suspension of disbelief, feeling everything the characters are going through and worried for their lives. A delightful detail is that Star Trek Fans have embraced this film to the point that it is often included of lists ranking the Star Trek movies, with Galaxy Quest often coming in as as the fourth best Star Trek movie made so far.
This is 1 of my comfort films. I never, ever get sick of it and watch it whenever it’s on. Alan Rickman makes me laugh so hard everytime as does Sam Rockwell!!!
The studio massively fumbled the marketing for this film. My friends and I saw it in the theater and we were convulsed with laughter. You should google Patrick Stewart's reaction to the film.

You need to see the making of/reflection documentary "Never Give Up, Never Surrender." Fantastic.
This was 1999, so Sam Rockwell did this and The Green Mile and Darryl Chill Mitchell (Laredo) did this and the teacher in 10 Things I Hate About You.
Shaloub was playing his character as being very stoned.
Rickman and Tim didn't get along for some of the same reasons as their characters. In a serious scene, Tim Allen needed a minute to deal with the emotions. "He just discovered acting," - Alan Rickman.
There was a deleted scene that explains why her outfit gets unzipped.
Enrico Collantoni auditioned fir Malthazar abd played it straight. The director abd producers weren't impressed. He asked to try it again using so acting voice techniques abd pretty much developed the Thermian was of speaking on the spot. He was hired to train all the other actors how to be Thermians.
Considered a love letter to the fanbase of sci-fi, especially the spaceship part of said genre. This is the way I think most parodies and comedies should be in general. In-universe, the fanbase helping the MC's out were a large part of why it doesn't come across negatively as it could have. It treated the fan characters with respect rather than dissing them.
I think you’d have to give Star Trek credit for getting the whole convention thing going. I think it was up in New York in the early 70s, They put together a signing and were able to get together several members of the original crew, somebody rented out a hotel space, they expected 5 to 600 people and something like 5000 turned up. The rest is history. Yes, those days conventions were definitely considered as geek, nerd gatherings. But there was no Internet back then, that’s how a lot of fans networked back in the day. Did you catch the joke behind Sigourney saying “vents, why is it always vents?“ and when she turns the corner and sees the chompers, you can clearly see what she actually said is “fuck that”. The location of the beryllium spheres was specifically selected to look like the old location from Star Trek. And yes, nice catch on the Sam Rockwell, rudimentary lathe, that was a direct joke about Captain Kirk building a cannon to fight the Gorn.
I love Alan Rickman but very few see his favourite performance of mine in Truly, Madly, Deeply. A British film from 1990.
It has such a different tone from his American movies.
The thing is that this is not only a love letter to Trek, but a love letter to all the fans of it too. The "geeks" with their knowledge and love for the show save the day.

When Tim Allen was filming the scene where he explains that they lied, he had to leave the set and return to his trailer for a time because the scene was bringing up feelings for him. As Tim was leaving, Alan Rickman said, "Oh my God, he's finally experienced acting".

Also, the decision to cast Sigourney Weaver, the quintessential badass leading lady, as the character who written to be little more than eye candy... sheer genius. You immediately get from casting ALONE that the actress is so much more than the role allowed her to be. It's what makes her "It's STUPID" line so wonderful.
Originally, they didn't want her because she was such a big name in the sci-fi world and they wanted to stay clear of that. Luckily she was relentless in her pursuit.

This movie works so well because it's an homage rather than a parody... a love-letter to the sci-fi genre. Such a well-done film and a personal favourite, glad you guys enjoyed it!

It is a part of why The Orville worked, people who loved the source material. The story of Jonathan Frakes and Patrick Stewart reacting to Galaxy Quest is amazing. :-)
I love Tim Allen, and Alan Rickman. This movie was great with a totally stacked lineup. Sam Rockwell was hilarious.
I'm a big Star Trek fan so when I first saw this...I burst with happiness. ❤ It's so funny and made so well. Even the cast of TNG had nothing but praise for it. I'm pretty sure most Trekkies/Trekkers consider this to be a real Trek movie. 😂

I love how the Grabthar's Hammer line starts out as something that Alan Rickman can't stand saying, yet when he delivers it for the last time, it's one of the most heartfelt lines in the movie.
I've seen this movie a million times and I cry every time. Especially now that Alan has passed.❤
So nearly all of the direct references were cut out of the movie, but Fred(Tony Shaloub) is absolutely baked the entire time. That's why he's eating and so calm. The only subtle reference left in the film is when they first all arrive at the star base, you'll notice that when Tony's pod opens, a bunch of smoke also comes out. He literally hotboxed himself on the way to the ship.
Also, I have seen this movie a dozen times and never noticed Alan pulling his prosthetic back down when the Thermians came into the conference room, good catch.
Not to mention that Guy actually asks him if he's stoned. 🤣
There's other references you can see where they adjusted the content to be more family friendly. For instance, when Sigourney Weaver's character has to go through the crushing pistons, her dub says, "Screw this!" but her mouth says, "Fvck this!" Her blouse is also rather strategically damaged as well, but they couldn't fix that in post. ;)

This movie is on my "can watch it anytime" movie list. Seen it dozens of times and still makes me laugh.

Such an amazing movie. It is indeed a love letter to the show and the fans. From what I understand, the bathroom scene is based on something that happened to Shatner.

Yeah, I've heard countless times the bathroom scene at the con was based on Shatner overhearing basically the same thing while in a bathroom at a con. I know both he and Leonard Nimoy had their moments like that of them turning their backs on the fans and the show (Nimoy famously writing his "I am Not Spock" book) but then both turning around again to embrace the legacy and the fans (Nimoy writing a second book, "I AM Spock" taking back the things he said previously). But I can't remember if that bathroom moment was the point Shatner had turned away, or was the reason he chilled out and came back around. I do know it was an important moment in his life.
I have heard that Alan Rickman’s death in 2016 was one of the reasons we didn’t get a GQ 2.

They obviously didn't want to do it while he was sick so they waited for him to pull through and when he didn't, well a loss is all the more heartbreaking when you were pulling for a win and none of them felt right doing it without him.
Here's a little funny fact, even if minor. When the crew first meets the aliens in their natural forms with Sam Rockwell screaming. Apparently, he wasn't meant to and just improvised the scream. Due to it being unscripted, Sigourney Weaver actually screams from being startled.
Also, when they get hit by the torpedo, they're actually on a moving stage that mimics the impact of the blasts. There was no camera sway, they really were being thrown around.
Yep. the whole bridge area was built on a gigantic gimbal. I remember a conversation between Tim and Daryl on the making of this movie where they were wondering how safe it would be because the construction crew said "never built one of these before..."

I LOVE the fact that there is a Galaxy Quest reference in the animated Disney film, Bolt, when the fanboy hamster Rhino skips off after talking with his hero Bolt while chanting, "Larak Tarath", the Mak'tar chant of strength, similar to Quellek getting to use the same chant with his beloved hero and father-figure, Dr. Lazarus.

It's still impressive thinking about how much of a cult following this movie attracted. It's become a classic for the ages! They were going to make a sequel, but due to the untimely passing of Alan Rickman, the cast and crew unanimously decided it wouldn't be appropriate to do it without him.

I think you can always feel if a parody/satire is made out of spite or as an homage. Yes, they make fun of many Star Trek tropes. But at the same time they celebrate them and the fandom that loves them. While delivering a very solid sci-fi movie. The end twist really got me the first time.
Alan Rickman's character is SO much fun to watch and him getting to that turning point of saying the line he hates, the line fans keep saying to him over and over, sincerely actually caring gets me every time.

Agreed! Only Alan Rickman could have shown that change in Alexander's character so perfectly. His disgust at the line is so obvious, hilarious, and well done every time, and then when he's quoting it to Quellek it really is so moving. Rickman was an absolute legend. ❤
Absolutely. Take a couple of modern shows-"Peacemaker" and "The Boys." Both are satires of the superhero genre but one is a very gentle , loving look at the tropes by a director that loves it and the other one is a wholesale attack on the very concept of of superheroes. Both are expertly done but they have very different messages.

Enrico Colantoni as Mathesar is honestly one of the best comedic performances of all time (both funny and touching).
It always makes me a little sad when people are all "It's Dwight!" "It's the Russian chick from Dodgeball" and no one recognizes Enrico. Just Shoot Me was one of the funniest sitcoms of the 90s. The episode where he and David Spade give Wendy Malick the fake word of the day calendar to get ready for her NPR interview is still gold.
He was also the reason the Thurmians were as wonderful as they were. He created the voice, the clap, the walk. To the point where the director said to the rest of the actors "Just do what Enrico is doing."

The fun thing about casting Sigourney Weaver is: they didn't. They didn't want any big Sci_Fi actor names. Sigourney Weaver REALLY wanted to play this role and begged for it. ^^ So awesome, that extra element of knowing an actor is playing a role because they love it, not just as a paycheck.
Alec Baldwin also really badly wanted to play Nesmith. It's always fun to hear about actors really wanting to get a certain role.
It would be a blast. Ripley is no lightweight in this cast. But imagine sitting around morning coffee table with Rickman and Rockwell. My mind would be blown.
I watched a documentary on this film. It was originally to be R but studio needed a family movie so it was scratch it or convert it. I’m so glad they chose to keep it. Great movie and Alan Rickman delivery of his avenging line is my favorite just enough seriousness to even things out. They really need to make more movies like this film.

I love how Sigourney actually lets loose the F-bomb when she first sees "the chompers" and they had to edit it to "screw that" to make it a family friendly movie. Saw it when I was in my early teens, so it felt like a dirty little secret and I loved it

I love watching all the Galaxy Quest reactions, it's one of my favorite movies, but your reaction is the one I keep coming back to! 😄👍🏻 Something I just realized during this watch is that the more Alan Rickman's character, Alexander, embraces his Galaxy Quest character, Dr. Lazarus, the more of HIM (Alex) shines through, i.e. the cap coming loose, his hair poking out, etc. 😄 It's like he finds freedom in embracing the character he's tired of portraying!

He said he originally didnt want to see it because he heard it was mocking star trek then jonathan frakes talked him into it and he loved it. His favorite part was that it really spotlighted the fans and their love of the show is really what saved the day and the relationship between them and their characters, the special impact they have on their lives.
Personally my favorite moment is when hes shot with his dying breath he says dr lazarus was like a father to him. A lot of viewers may not have the most fulfilling lives, perhaps missing important role models and the show is what was there for them. To these superfans the characters are like family and love them as such and galaxy quest hits that nail on the head bith with the thermians and the kids on earth.
I tell everybody who says that Rickman did a phenomenal rendition of "disgust" as Snape to watch this film.

I started to tear up when the sweet guy died in his arms and he did the "you shall be avenged" so quietly. Rickman Rules!
Not only is this a perfect movie, but it also becomes more perfect every time you watch it. I am surprised that you didn't mention the aspect ratio changes in the film. For the original casting they did not want anyone who had been in a sci-fi film. Sigourney Weaver had read the script and fought to get into the movie. The Thermians said that they are from the Klatu nebula. Klaatu is the name of the alien who comes to Earth in the film classic The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Apparently Jonathan Frakes told Patrick Stewart about this and Stewart wanted nothing to do with it because he thought they just made fun of Star Trek and nothing else. But then he was convinced to watch it at the cinema and eventually loved it.
Same thing happened with Red Dwarf. Stewart heard about it didn’t think much, rumour is he even called his lawyer to check about possible copyright infringement but when he watched it he loved it and even hosted an outtakes or ‘Smegups’ special.
Seems Sir Patrick is a bit reactionary at times but is more than willing to change his mind once he takes time to check things out properly.
@@lordomacron3719 to be fair for every red dwarf or galaxy quest there are a dozen cheap shoddy blatant rip offs and mean spirited cruel send ups which show the shows the actors and the fans in a bad light.
The scene where Guy says, "Is there air?!? You don't know!" Is a favorite of mine because it was not in the script. Tim was really into it and argued that they should do some checks (like for air). But they said no. The next take, Sam through that in and it just kills me.
If you guys enjoyed this (because it is one off the nicest fan tribute movies I have ever seen), and if Oak is familiar with con culture, I really recommend the movie "Paul". Just make sure to get the extended cut. I think you guys will get a huge kick out of it.
I love Galaxy Quest so much. Even tho it's technically a parody, it never belittles or is cruel towards Star Trek or Star trek fans. It pokes fun, but in a way that makes it clear the film is in on the joke, not trying to make anything look stupid. I think most parodies have a real mean streak towards the thing its parodying. but Galaxy Quest proves you can poke good hearted fun at something while also paying tribute to it and singing its praises and reminding people why we love these kinds of shows and fan culture.
What an amazing reaction to a fantastic movie! On top of that, hearing Oak talk about his experience at conventions and seeing the enthusiasm of the fans was really heartwarming. As someone who's worked in conventions for a while now, let me tell you, it never gets old seeing the love people have for their various fandoms and the creative ways they choose to express that. Glad he's gotten to see some of that world and I hope the other guys get a chance to as well. Great insights guys! Keep being awesome!

Alan Rickman was funny because he played it like a serious actor relegated to a space-opera serial. Every time he said his line, a piece of him died, until he recited it for Quellick.
I was so incredibly surprised by this movie. A friend forced me to watch it, and I absolutely LOVED it. I'm not a Trekkie by any means, but growing up, I definitely watched the original movies and TNG, so I recognized the loving homage to the show, to the actors who play beloved characters, and to fandom in general. I love that they seemed to understand that for some folks fandom can give them friends, a sense of belonging, and a sense of self.
More than anything though, I was surprised by how much heart this movie has. On top of being hilarious and so much fun, I remember feeling genuinely heart broken when Mathesar finds out they were "lying", and is just so sad over it. I've seen this movie a few times, and I always love it and I always laugh. I've yet to see a reactor who didn't really enjoy it. ❤
my dad grew up as a Trekkie and I grew up watching Star Trek as well. When we watched this together, my dad was in absolute fits of laughter and he is a pretty stoic guy who doesn't often show emotions with cinema. Adore this movie so much and so glad to be a part of your journey experiencing it!
The part where the Tim Allen character overheard the teens making fun of him was supposedly based on an actual experience that Willam Shatner had at a convention.

It always suprises me when people say that they've never seen this movie. It was one of my favorites as a kid. My grandpa had it on VHS and my cousin and I wore it out watching it so much. It was one of those movies that didn't stop being funny upon rewatch - if anything, you catch and understand more each time. And of course we still watch it from time to time... and we're usually super baked which just makes it more enjoyable. (Side note, I totally did not get as a kid that Tony's character is so chill because he's baked all the time. We had a blast figuring that out! lol)
My most re-watchable movie of all time. "Is there air? You don't know!" It makes mild fun of the shows, but the heroes of the story are the fans of the show, their love of the show being vindicated.

I love this movie. When they reveal the ship for the first time, I always think about how a fan would react seeing the Enterprise, the Millennium Falcon, the Serenity of any of the great star ships actually in front of them. The joy, the amazement, awe and tears seeing a ship that you have watched and dreamed about right there in front of you.
That’s why the first Star Trek movie spends so long showing off the “new” Enterprise. Instead of awful old tv resolution with bad color (or none!), here she is on a massive screen with crazy resolution, different panels with shimmering highlights in different colors…here’s everything you couldn’t see before. This is as real as we can make it.

I appreciated that a lot. The Enterprise is as much a character as the crew. Same with Serenity. ❤ It's like showing off your house. That can fly. That holds all your buddies in it. Lol
That's one of the appeals of Galaxy's Edge.

It was cool to see this in the theater, because the movie starts with the curtains drawn a bit. It's subtle enough that you may not notice. Then, when convention starts, the curtains also retracted, as the screen ratio changes. It was an interesting experience - listening to the motors & realizing that you've been watching the movie in 4:3.
I am glad that you guys finally got around to seeing this one. I'm also glad that for the most part, none of you really knew much about the film. When it came out, the trailers spelled out a lot of what the movie was about - even the basic plot. The result is that there are a few parts, where twists had reduced impact, because you were expecting them. A few scenes also had reduced impact, because they were in the trailer. As I understand it, the initial response was a bit underwhelming. I'd guess that part of it was because the trailers presented it as far goofier than it actually was. When you take it as a whole, it ends up being a pretty competent sci-fi action/adventure movie. It wasn't just a comedy Star Trek parody/spoof.
I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. It's still one of my favorite films. It's one of the few that I see a few times per year. I also enjoy reliving the experience through reactions like yours. 7.7 on your reaction.
Commenting before watching because I am completely stoked for this. I'm a big Trekkie and this is one of the greatest comedies of its era. Excited to see our boys get to experience this the first time.

LOVE this movie! Very funny & entertaining. But I still get teary eyed when Quellek is shot & tells Dr. Lazarus he's has been like father figure to him. Alexander Dane, as Dr. Lazarus (RIP Alan Rickman) recites the catch phrase he formerly hated, now with genuine emotion.
When the commander has to explain they were lying and when Dr Lazarus actually says his line with real feeling you realize it’s not just cheesy, even sci-fi has real emotion behind it 😭
I freaking love this movie. I saw it with a fellow Star Trek fan in the theaters in 99. A few days earlier I’d been shopping at a religious book store and when I pulled out my Star Trek visa and little nun at the register grabbed my arm and said “you have to see Galaxy quest!” She was a massive trek fan and she loved the movie getting all the trek references. So I went and it’s now one of my favorite movies. I just love it.
The writing is so good. It's kind of a parody but it's more like a comedic love letter to trek and it's place in pop culture. There are several clever setups and payoffs. A few nice emotional moments. And it's just lighthearted and fun.

So, they deleted the scene that explains Tony Shalhoub's character to keep the rating PG-13, but basically he's high the entire time. That's why he's always snacking and is just completely unphased by everything that's going on.
The transporter was designed using human anatomy (that’s what the one guy said) so that’s why they never had a successful transportation. It’s also why the pig lizard turned inside out but Tagger survived.
I'm 54, and i remembered as a kid coming across an article that had featured a plot that had members of the original star trek cast using the transporter and re materialize on a studio set of the transporter and how the crew tried to question their reality, Galaxy Quest gave me closure😂. Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver, Dean Stockwell and Tim Allen great performances.

The one thing I think a lot of people may not realize is just how much this film popularized comic conventions. Before this it was still very niche. It wasn't long after this film came out in the early 2000s that Comic Con REALLY took off going into the 21st Century.
The film was originally rated R with more explicity language. Several seens are cut with Tony Shalob's character because they more overtly depicted him as being a fan of Satan's lettuce. (That is why he's so clam about everything and carrying around his brown bag of snacks.)
With the R rating I don't know that this film would have worked as well. The aim was to be a little edgier and crasser, but I don't think it would have been nearly as successful in being a tonal send up to Star Trek, or Science Fiction fandom. As it is now it rides that line and pokes fun at it, but also has a very clear love and admiration for fandom. After all, it is the fans that really save the day in this movie.
There were talks to do a sequel, and a TV series, but when Alan Rickman passed away nobody in the original cast wanted to do it.
There is an "E!" documentary on Galaxy Quest, as if it were a real TV show. You can find it here on RUclips. It basically turns into a commercial for the movie.
There was a fan site for the movie and the tv show called "questarian" which featured fake episode synopsis, prop images, BTS images.
I actually think Galaxy Quest is better than Spaceballs. I love Spaceballs, but Galaxy Quest has the ability to make fun o fmore than one thing at the same time. Spaceballs is basically aimed at the Science Fiction genre for comedy, but Qalaxy Quest has more avenues to poke fun at Science Fiction, Fandom, etc etc...

I will never stop laughing at this film: it's perfection. I'm so happy you enjoyed it so much! I'm sure that someone will mention it, but Tony's character was meant to be high. They sanitized or cut a few scenes to lower the rating on release, so we have a pretty clean, family friendly film. Personally, I think not knowing for sure what's up with him adds to the humor.

Galaxy Quest is one of those dark horse movies that you never expected to be as good as it is.
As someone who grew up with the original Star Trek, I'm always amused and confused when people today call it "cheesy." When it first aired, both the writing and the effects were so far beyond any earlier science fiction shows on TV, it was groundbreaking. It garnered such a fan base that a massive letter-writing campaign kept it on the air for a third season. (Which may have been unfortunate, since most of the episodes that truly were "cheesy" were from the third season.) And the huge Star Trek fan conventions that began after the series was cancelled were unprecedented.
Stellar cast, clever concept and just an overall a good damn movie. Love this reaction. 👍🏾
Life long Star Trek fan, and really all sci fi I can get my hands on. Blake 7, Red Dwarf, Farscape, you name it, I've watched it. THIS was a perfect movie. It's such a huge homage the cheesy corny campiness but in a very sincere and thankful way. And it's a huge thanks to the fans everywhere, no matter how weird and into it they are, who keep it alive.
The amount of raw disdain Rickman puts into his lines in this is ridiculous. But him giving his line at the end as the guy dies in his arms... that hits hard.
As someone who watched every episode of Star Trek TOS as they aired, TNG, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and every movie this is the best Star Trek movie ever and a love letter to the fandoms that attend conventions.
Tony Sheloub's character was supposed to be high all the time but they cut that explanation for his attitude and snacking out of the movie.
I wanted to go to XenaCon so bad but missed my opportunity. Now they don't have them anymore. I *do* have a Xena costume I wear at RenFest though on Heroes weekend.
I've been in SFI* over 20 years; Trek fans love this and waited in vain for a sequel. It's often called one of the best Star Trek movies. Many of the references are to Shatner and Nimoy's personal turmoils. Shatner was unpopular and feuded with cast. Nimoy regretted writing his "I Am Not Spock" book for decades, then finally wrote, "I Am Spock" to clear the air. And Shatner famously ranted at "convention fans" in a SNL skit, "Get a life!" you all should watch "Never Surrender" a documentary on Galaxy Quest. It's really well done and they have interviews with a lot of the cast.
I love this movie and have watched it so many times. I'm a huge Star Trek fan and this is such an awesome take on it and how crazy we fans are about our shows! Everyone was perfectly cast too! It works on so many levels!

The character Fred Kwan(Tony Shalhoub) was so calm and just enjoying the ride throughout the movie because in the original cut he was supposed to be high. Any references to this was removed to make the movie more family friendly.
I absolutely LOVE the arc of Alan’s character being told exquisitely through him just reciting his famous line.
This is my favourite comedy, the whole cast is amazing but Sam Rockwell and Alan Rickman are the standouts for me, both hilarious.
I love the "I don't know how to shut down a neutron reactor. And unless you took an anex learning course, neither do you." And his answer, "But I know someone who does!" BOOM!
My dad is and will always be a Trekkie and so I grew up with Star Trek on tv in the background, the OG, TNG, DS9, all of the movies. This movie is an honorary Star Trek film in all its rights. And, for me, it is in my top 5 movies in my personal list. I like movies that make me laugh, but also have true heart. There are certainly better cinematic classics out there and at least one is there on my top 5 list, but this one stands out as something separate and special.

Saw this at the theatre back in 99. I was working security at a local cineplex at the time. I loved it immediately and have always felt that it’s vastly underrated.
The Rock Monster fight..... when Sam Rockwell's character says 'Can you manufacture a makeshift lathe'. I always viewed that as a direct reference to that Gorn fight(the big lizard man), when Kirk made a makeshift cannon.
Back when I worked at Blockbuster, I always thought this movie looked dumb, because I judged it by its cover. Last year, I finally caved and decided to watch this “dumb-looking” film, because I was tired of hearing how amazing it was. So I watched it. Then I watched it two more times in three days. I ADORE this movie, and similar to “RRR,” I have never been so happy to be so wrong. 😊
This was hilarious and watching you all watch it was the best! This cast was great. Alan Rickman was awesome in everything he was ever in...miss him.😔
I consider this a perfect movie, glad you enjoyed it so much. The parallel between the rock monster and the Gorn goes ones step further - the lathe suggestion IS a reference to Kirk's manufacture of the cannon. Also, Rickman's portrayal of the struggle of the actor with his character is parallel to Nimoy's with Spock. Nimoy even wrote two books about it.
There were Enterprise blueprints for the fans back in the 70s, and books and encyclopedias (ask me how I know!) so having computerized versions in the 90s was right in step. Speaking of, the registry number "NTE" stands for Not The Enterprise.

Oh I’m going 5/5. Perfectly balanced script between comedic parody and loving homage, of the OG Star Trek, of the convention scene and the super fans. We the the audience of Galaxy Quest are in this meta state of knowing this film is fake and completely populated with actors, and yet we’re totally sucked into suspension of disbelief, feeling everything the characters are going through and worried for their lives. A delightful detail is that Star Trek Fans have embraced this film to the point that it is often included of lists ranking the Star Trek movies, with Galaxy Quest often coming in as as the fourth best Star Trek movie made so far.
This is 1 of my comfort films. I never, ever get sick of it and watch it whenever it’s on. Alan Rickman makes me laugh so hard everytime as does Sam Rockwell!!!

The studio massively fumbled the marketing for this film. My friends and I saw it in the theater and we were convulsed with laughter. You should google Patrick Stewart's reaction to the film.
