I visited York yesterday with my sister first time I've been there I loved York minster absolutely breathtaking architecture the town is lovely so much history and the buildings are so old loved the shambles too ❤
Visit here over 10 years ago with wife and youngest son. Wife is from England. Remember some of places you show in your walk. Son and I did the ghost tour which of course included the Shambles. We also did the Viking center and York Dungeon. Hope to go back one day, two days was enough to see everything, thanks for the memories!
I don't think that I ever ever seen the streets so clean. It looks like the streets and pavements have been polished. It must have been for your visit!
Next visit be sure to do the gardens outside the Yorkshire Museum and the Abbey ruins. Lendel Street Bridge is worth seeing also, with the railway museum and the train station nearby. Nice video!!!
Nice video. The wife and I love York. Especially a handful of our favourite pubs 😂 There are so many streets for you to film. Are there any more York videos? You missed Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate at the end of The Shambles. The second best looking street in York is Stonegate
Hello Neil how are you love your vidio of York one of my favourite city's alot of history thete I love going on the time capsal that tales you around the jovic vicking centre and the York castle museum dont forget to walk down the shambles its fantastic best wishes take care stay safe from Lynn x ❤😊
Thanks Neil I really enjoyed the video there's a lot of shops I wondered if there were any chipshops I really enjoyed the walk hope you ok and have a good day I've a few busy weeks I'm having my flat decorated keep safe and have a good day
I spent a week in York, and tried to take in as many attractions as I could, and still missed some. You mentioned ghosts. I had at least three evening meals in the Golden Fleece. I didn't see any spirits, but met one of the ladies working there who had someone whispering in her ear when there was no one there. I love that town, but I'm afraid I can't afford to go back again. It's a long way from western Canada.
Ok I need to know because I'm considering moving there: is it so crowded because of the King or is it always like this? This is busier than Oxford St. in London! Something I definitely won't miss when I move out. A beautiful place, though, especially in this weather. Looks unreal.
OMG was that Berwick Kaler walking down the shambles wearing a viking themed hat? if you don't know who he is , he is famous for being the dame in The York Theater Royal but he also has been in films and tv shows he was in A knights Tales with Heath Ledger (although there is a chance that it isn't him ) lol
You missed something so exciting. At the beginning of the video. On this cafe lies a big Roman stone that you can see from under your feet as it's covered by glass! The first time I saw it feels magical
You didn't mention the Cat Trail! All around York, there are cat statues to replicate the statues used in Medieval times to discourage rats running along butcher's hooks and contaminating the meat. Start with a leaflet from York Glass and the trail takes you all over the city-it took us 4-5 hrs to complete(including a few breaks for drinks and a look around Merchant Adventurers Hall)!
I am absolutely doing the Cat Trail on my next visit to York!! I have seen a few of the cats, but did not know until recently there is an organized trail.
The stone walls that you see surrounding the city centre of York are not roman they are medieval, the roman walls are mostly buried several metres below the earth.
Also watch Torquay - ruclips.net/video/UdVx3yx8BMg/видео.html
York is great, it packs a punch for a small city, roman, viking history, culture, my favourite is the national railway museum.

I know it's only a little seaside place, but what about Arnside, in Lancashire.
I've often wondered what it looks like.
Porthcurno in Cornwall please. Can you pick me up on the way from Derbyshire and take me with you please? Haha! Thanks.
Loved the merchant s hall
I have been to York quite a few times and i absoultley love it .
My mom and I was on a tour of the UK in 2021 and stopped at the The Earl Grey tea rooms. It was an amazing experience for me.
Words cannot describe what the minster imposes on the city. A fantastic dominance.

It’s like this in holiday season and special weekends
You asked about similar places to Shambles. The Lanes in Brighton is very similar…
hi would you be doing a walking tour from travelger square to convent gardens london ?
has it got diections to the shambles from the city center ?
OMG was that Berwick Kaler walking down the shambles wearing a viking themed hat? if you don't know who he is , he is famous for being the dame in The York Theater Royal but he also has been in films and tv shows he was in A knights Tales with Heath Ledger (although there is a chance that it isn't him ) lol
We will take York back as one of our Viking Strongholds !
What time of day was your walk?
Can't remember this one
You missed something so exciting. At the beginning of the video. On this cafe lies a big Roman stone that you can see from under your feet as it's covered by glass! The first time I saw it feels magical
Ah no - I missed that. Will have to get that next time I film York!

York is beautiful, but Chillingbourne has got the edge.
Oooh not been there yet - going to check out Chillingbourne now

a lot of the shops are closed down and bankrupt ?
No not at all!
i was there last week. about 40% are closed down and they have fake graphics in the windows. even in the shambles.@@GimbalWalkTV
@@puppets.and.muppets
I went in the last week or so too and didn't see any of that
even on your own video i can see closed shops ?😅@@GimbalWalkTV
My aunties lives un Yorkshire lol
You virtually walked past where Guy Fawkes was born and never mentioned it.
Correct!
Although I do mention it and show it in the other 2250246 York videos I've got on my channel!
I guessed York. 😂
Ah nice one!
What an annoying place. It's like a compacted Blackpool. Probably good when it's quiet. Just like Blackpool lol.
But Blackpool doesn’t have ancient church and beautiful ancient buildings !🙄🏴🌹
Cities don’t tend to be quiet 🤫
