      I know it’s Anakin but devil’s advocate, the force would know Luke said that too. I think they purposely left it ambiguous til later in the story to keep the audience intrigued. I knew it was Anakin from his interaction and not what he knew, but what he didn’t know. He didn’t know events he wasn’t present for, the force would have known the battle of Mandalore and things Ahsoka experienced without Ani

    It is not an Ashoka memory, it’s actually Anakin… The 2 clues they give us of that are:
    1. Anakin saying “I’ve heard that before” acknowledging his battle with Luke after he said he wouldn’t fight him
    2. During the Siege of Mandalore, he said “I don’t remember this battle”… because he wasn’t there, and it wouldn’t make sense if it was a memory

    When Ahsoka said she won't fight him, Anakin said he's heard that before. This confirms this is not only Anakin, its post-Vader Anakin. Who's fallen to the dark side, and came back. This is who he should've been all along.
    This was his final lesson, that sometimes it's better not to fight. A lesson he learned from Luke on the Death Star. This episode is quite literally the best piece of Star Wars I've seen in years.

  • @jasonmarbach
    @jasonmarbach 7 месяцев назад +12

    Hector - my interpretation was, in that moment, Hayden was Ahsoka’s subconscious manifestation saying “If you stop fighting, you’ll die” and that was *literally* referring to her battle, unconscious in the water, to survive. It works on multiple levels though, both the way I say here and also as an indictment of Anakin’s teachings (and the order writ large) as you suggested.

    • @foulrot
      @foulrot 7 месяцев назад +2

      When Ahsoka says "I won't fight you" Anakin replies "I've heard that before", that line is a reference to Luke telling Vader that he won't fight him. Ahsoka has no way of really knowing that detail, so it is Anakin's force ghost, not her subconscious.

  • @darchangel8675309
    @darchangel8675309 7 месяцев назад +12

    I think Anakin’s lesson was that Ahsoka spent a lot of her life trying to not be involved. She walked away from him, from the Jedi order, and from Sabine.
    She was afraid that being involved would lead to caring too much and eventually turn her into something like Vader (as she referenced in their conversation on Mandalore), which is why Anakin asks “is that what this is about?”-then turns into Vader so she can decide to either let the apathy and fear destroy her or fight to find her path back to the light.
    It’s mirrored in Sabine’s pride keeping her from coming back to Ahsoka, and Huyang suggesting that “perhaps it’s time to begin again”.
    They both have to let go of their past pain and move forward together-in a way that Anakin regrets not being able to do for Ahsoka.

    Anakin's lesson for Ahsoka was less of a "lesson" in the schoolyard sense and more of a life lesson. Ever since we saw her in The Mandalorian and probably prior to that, Ahsoka has been going through the motions of "living". She's suffering from depression due to internalized guilt over what happened with Anakin. She's not LIVING, she's just existing. That's why afterwards, her demeanor changes

  • @GhostyG19

  • @RedClaw87

    I was so looking forward to this reaction.
    That clearly was force ghost Anakin. When Ahsoka threw away the lightsaber and said "I won't fight you." and he replied with "I've heard that before." it references what Luke said to his father.
    There was not only darkness in Anakin. There was light and so Anakin was indeed more than that. And so is Ahsoka.
    And Anakin was right when he stated you either fight or you die. If Ahsoka would have given up, she would have died in the ocean. She needed to fight to live, although it not being physical. That was what actually killed Padme. Loosing her will to live and to fight on.
    In the end Anakin was finally able to save someone he loved and he did not need the dark side to do it. He was desperately trying to save Ahsoka in the World between Worlds. And he managed to do it.

  • @Saphthings
    @Saphthings 7 месяцев назад +12

    "One is never too old to learn, snips". He was 45 when he died. Ahsoka is 47.
    To me, the lesson he was teaching her was the difference between surviving and living. It was the last lesson he learned, from Luke, when he was her age.
    From the moment he betrayed Ahsoka, she's been surviving, and her purpose, her conviction, gone. She's got no friends, family or companions around her, no attachment, just as a Jedi should be. But Ahsoka is no Jedi, and like Anakin said he's now passed on the final lesson he learned to her, even what he learned in his final moments.
    And then as he's smiling and remembering about his last lesson by Luke, she says, "I won't fight you" and he chuckles, because that's also what Luke said to him before that last fight. When his heart was full of rage and darkness that fight is what brought him back. So he turns on his lightsaber, and gets ready to pass that on to her.
    You live, truly live, or you die just like he did when he became Vader. Just surviving is as good as death.
    At least that's my take on it.

    • @emilylewis5373

      I think that's the point of her eyes turning yellow in that last parry. She was so afraid of turning into vader (after all part of me is within you like my master is within me). Look at what she did to Sabine, the first time of trouble, Sabine loosing mandalore, Ashoka left her. There is also the point that you don't just turn evil, you make that choice to do so, hence her throwing away the saber. She won't fall, because she won't make that choice to do so.

    I think you guys are misinterpreting the choice of “fight or die”. Ahsoka was literally dying. Her body was drowning, it was only her spirit that was in the World Between Worlds. He wasn’t telling her that fighting and war was her legacy…the opposite is true. “You’re more than that. Because I am more than that.” The “fight or die” was about her literal life or death, that she needed to choose to live, she needed to fight for her life and not give up. Not give up on herself as a teacher and not give up on Sabine as an apprentice. The word “fight” means a lot of things, both positive and negative. Ahsoka also needed to work through her despair over Anakin becoming Darth Vader. This was a way for him to show her that he has both sides within him, but that he was redeemed in the end. This really was the best episode of the season and it has so many layers.

      There was definitely something about this that was tickling all my RotS vibes. That and later when he ignites it again on Mandalore, it just feels so much like the shot on Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith where he is framed from behind (although it switches back when he is about to ignite it), and the cloudy/smoky haze just gives me those same vibes. Filoni has always been right on at getting those visual nods to the prequels even when the scenes themselves aren't carbon copies.

    One of my favorite things about this point in the series was how much "lighter" Ahsoka's demeanor was after her time in the WBW. The white outfit is indicative of the newfound outlook that she has. She smiles, she basically says "I don't know where we're going, but that's okay" -- both of which stem from the metamorphosis into Ahsoka 2.0.

It’s a metaphor for choosing to live and actively move forward rather than giving into fear and allowing death. Darth Vader was bad and did horrific things yes but Anakin didn’t become him because he was evil, hence why Anakin can be more than the worse parts of him. Ahsoka was hung up on his failure and he needed her to move past that.

    I think it was really Anakin and he is the Mortis father now, that Ahsoka died and her soul went to the world between worlds and Anakin taught her to live - he stopped a person he cared for from dying (learning to pull her own soul back into her own body and live rather than just die.) I think the hint he's really Anakin is that he says 'I've heard that before' when she says 'I won't fight you.' She doesn't know about that moment between Darth Vader and Luke. Also Jacen heard the lightsabers so it was happening in a different realm.

    "What happens if I want to stop fighting?" "Then you die" Is what he's trying to tell her, if she gives up here in the World Between Worlds she will die. Your chorus of "That's wrong, that's not true" over and over was the actual falsehood.

    Ahsoka could not have hurled herself into the World between Worlds. She doesn't have that knowledge.'
    Last time Ezra pulled her in. So it is most likely that Anakin as a Force Ghost saw she needed help - by that time he *is* the Chosen One - pulled her in, to finish her training (finishing the unresolved issues between them) and help her mend her spiritual wounds.

    I think it is Anakin’s spirit. I have 2 reasons why. 1: Anakin remember’s hearing “I will not fight you.” He heard that from Luke. Ahsoka was not there, and I doubt Luke gave her a scene by scene break down of what happened, and second, he did not recognise mandalor. If he was a projection from Ashoka’s consciousness, he would have known that it was the siege of mandalor. Also, as a bonus, Anakin taught her something new in his lesson to her. If it was a manifestation of her consciousness, then she already knew that lesson and this is way less impactful. So I choose to believe that it really was Anakin’s spirit returning to give her a new lesson and guidance just like Yoda, qui gon and obi wan

    If you give up, you totally will lose, the fight is not ending because someone chooses to not fight, they just lose. Anakin was telling her to fight for her life or she wasn’t going back and he knows, she’s got work to do. If she is going to face what’s coming to their galaxy, she will have to fight. Anakin and Vader are one, there will always be a part of the dark side in Anakin, even in death he carries the potential to go dark. He made a choice and turned from the dark but he still feels the way he did as Vader but maybe sees he could have accomplished it without surrendering to the darkside. That was Anakin, not a manifestation, Anakin may have become what the father wanted him to be, so powerful in life but god like in death. Ahsoka memory walked in the episode where she was trying to see what happened at Sabine’s/Ezra’s place, the technique is used by Jedi but usually much older than Ahsoka. I think the Daughter’s gift has connected Ahsoka much deeper to the force and given her access to Jedi powers that only older Jedi would have developed. Rewatching this with you guys just makes it so much sweeter to do because of your love for the franchise. I still f’cking cry watching parts of this, I always cry when I see Anakin. His story is so heavy and it still to this day feels like “if he’d only”, but everything had to happen how it did and that’s what hurts. This show is what assures me that the franchise is in good hands, great watch along fellas. 👍🏽👍🏽

    I loved how this episode showed more of the fact that Ahsoka was sadly both a Jedi AND a child soldier. What’s more is that while while the Jedi were taught to not form attachments to people, she and her master clearly broke that rule and cared for not just their men but their friends and family. The difference is that while Anakin failed and fell to the Dark Side because he couldn’t let go of those he loved, Ahsoka succeeded and learned to let go and move on.
    After seeing Ahsoka having a moment of catharsis with her master, and letting go of her guilt and pain to more fully embrace the Light Side, Rosario Dawson now truly has become the Ahsoka we remember from Clone Wars! She has now truly risen and has now become tied with Luke Skywalker for me as the greatest Jedi of all time.
    This is also easily the best performance Hayden has ever given as Anakin, he actually felt more like Anakin from the Clone Wars than the movies. I honestly never thought I would see LIVE ACTION scenes from Clone Wars, or even Hayden in Anakin’s Clone Wars armor!
    And for those that thought “it was all in her head”, the very fact that Jacen was able to sense Ahsoka proves that she was somehow in the World Between Worlds.

    Not to be rude but this reaction wasn't one of your best. There was way too much talking and you missed key moments that you could of shown but it was only showing your favlces. Perhaps I'm being influenced by all the other reactors doing this episode but I just feel this one missed the mark for HR due to editing.

      @darkglasses87 one thing most other reactors got perfectly was Anakin temporarily turning into Vader. During the reaction they totally missed it on the first one and sort of got the second. Not saying they didn't comment on it, just didn't capture it on the screen. It just felt like the editing was one or two seconds off the whole video. They are usually on point on capturing the video moments perfectly so it was kind of a departure.

    • @maverickproductions3818
      @maverickproductions3818 7 месяцев назад +8

      @@darkglasses87 I think the biggest miss was the uncertainty of whether or not this was actually Anakin. (It’s also confirmed later in the show, but regardless)…before Ahsoka and Anakin fight, she says “I won’t fight you, and he says “I’ve heard that before”-talking about when Luke said that to him, and yet they fought. An additional example is one of them who talks a lot didn’t remember Ahsoka could sense force echoes (memory impressions), when it was made very clear in a scene where Ahsoka sensed Sabine’s first fight with Shin on Lothal when she investigated the tower.
      I absolutely love these guys to death and their reactions bring me such joy, but I agree with the other comments that I think some of their questions would be answered if they weren’t talking during important dialogue parts and snippets. I’m all for geeking out and being excited, but there’s a difference in geeking out and still listening versus just rambling about your thoughts, which makes you and your fellow watchers miss dialogue.

      I'm with you. I generally really love their reactions but am starting to get really sick of all the talking they do during the episode. I understand seeing something and wanting to break it down but write it down and do it after the episode. I know, to each their own and if I don't like it just don't watch but I want to keep watching if at all possible. It is getting less and less likely though as a lot of other reactors are out there.

    Hector's right when he says Anakin is wrong to say that to stop fighting is to die, and it's shown in the final scene Ahsoka has disarming her master and throwing his saber away - by not striking him down, she rejects her own former way of thinking that if she isn't careful, she'll be another Sith. She lets that thought go, forgives Anakin, and forgives herself to move on. That's her choosing to live.

    I read all that as it was Anakin. Basically his force ghost living in the world between worlds coming to her because of her connection to the Daughter. At least that's the nerd rationalization. Surface level, he made callbacks to lines Vader had with Luke, and bouncing back and forth between Anakin, dark Anakin, suit Vader, and perfect Vader (so no suit Sith in the very end there) was saying this entity was a fully experienced and powered version of Anakin there to give her a last lesson and test.

    Anakin has finally taken his place as the chosen one, THE mortis god, the embodiment of the force in balance, having known and come through the depths and corruption of the dark side and the selfless, compassionate warmth of the light.
    I also think he's right in this instance. Ahsoka is exhausted. She's been fighting for so long. And there's a part of her that wants to let go and stop fighting. She doesn't feel like she has anything to offer anyone but death and violence, that that's all she's inherited from her master and that Sabine deserves to inherit more than that from her and would be better off without her, ending that dark legacy. But if she does stop fighting here, quite literally, she will die out in that water. She's feeling hopeless and he's trying to show her that there's only no hope if she gives up.
