    I adore that in the end, this show wasn’t about the Multiverse. It wasn’t about “getting the X-men in the MCU” or anything like that.

      Exactly! I wish more people addressed this -- it's a gorgeous story but it is also so tragic. Loki said at his core that he wanted two things: To save his friends, and not be alone. Loki has the best character arc in the entire MCU, and has one of the greatest character arcs of all time. He started the show as a god who wanted to rule everyone and everything in the universe for selfish reasons, to a god who selflessly watches over and protects the MULTIVERSE, in isolation, from a throne outside of time and space.
    Mobius told him that he needed to choose which burden he could live with to fulfill his purpose, and as heavy as it was, this was the only choice in which all of his friends and family as well as all of the people of the multiverse would be saved. He is a true hero now. My heart absolutely breaks that this Loki is now and possibly always will be alone, but at least he can watch over everyone he cares for from afar.

From villain who desired a throne, to savior who only took a throne to save his friends and the multiverse. But I do hope we do at least get one more interaction between him and Thor. So Thor can look at his brother, and tell him how proud of him he is.

He realized he never really wanted a throne or power, he just wanted to belong, to love and be loved, he wanted to do good and help. But Odin and Thor were right, he was meant for a throne and to do way more than he could've thought so. Lest we forget, he said he did it "for you, for all of us", he gave a chance to those he loved but to himself as well. He gave other variance of himself to be good, to change, to have true freedom. God I could cry every single time.

    Ok, as someone who is knowledgable around Norse sagas and the old stories around Loki and the other Norse gods, I think that at least someone in the writer's room has researched this background. What Marvel has gotten wrong so far is that Loki is not the god of mischief in the old stories, he's the god of chaos and the one who brings about the end of the world. They seem to be tapping into that now and into other aspects of Norse mythology. There are for example the Norns, the three goddesses of fate, who spin the threads of people's lives. The Norns are also the ones who are tending to Yggdrasil. And there is also the story of Odin having to sacrifice himself to get magic by hanging himself in Yggdrasil. All of this seems to be envoked in the ending of this show.

She used them on multiple people and beings throughout both seasons (Alioth, TVA Agents, Brad/X-5, etc.), so she could have immediately known what Loki was saying was true and she could have just stopped right then and there.

    I kinda have a theory that either the Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars movie will involve some sort of showdown between Kang & Loki for the ultimate control of time. Given that He Who Remains & Loki were one upping each other we still don’t know if He Who Remains was actually one step ahead of Loki and still isn’t manipulating this outcome somehow. He told Loki the only way to stop this is to kill Sophie but what if it was a manipulation to set Loki on a path to restoring the branches. He Who Remains still sits at the end of time so maybe Loki sits at the start of time? Kang may decide he wants control of both.

      We get a hint that this isn't the case at the end - Loki isn't just holding the multiverse together, he's also making sure no Kang is too powerful - as seen in Mobius casually mentioning that Scott and gang stopped a Kang in a "616-adjacent realm" (Quantumania). Kang is no longer unstoppable-except-by-Kang. He lost his plot armor because Loki broke it.

    The ONLY thing missing from the episode - was that Loki should have jumped back in time - to see his mom as Thor did, for closure - and also his dad, prior to ragnarok - so when Odin says - i love you my sons - its becuase he knows LOKIs future becuase of his future son seeing him prior to Hella. It would have nicely tied a ribbon around it all.

    @Heroes Reforged,
    7:55 This is Sylvie's Nexus Event! The reason why Ravonna went back in time to purge her as a little girl! This story that Mobius tells here, 11:00, explains that he and Ravonna used to be Hunters charged with pruning Variants before their crimes, like some sort of Minority Report-type work. Sylvie's Nexus Event was also a Canon Event, something that absolutely has to happen and cannot be prevented, which explains why Loki could never talk Sylvie down.
    10:29 Why must it be a lie? Loki spent much of the season trying to do the impossible, only to discover that the impossible indeed cannot be done. So what did he do? He went to the source, who once again reminded the audience that he's just a man in the elevator scene, who indeed confirmed for Loki that his man-made machine cannot sustain more branches of time than the ones it originally sustained.
    The Sacred Timeline was designed to preserve the original branches of time that HWR saved after the Multiversal War. The loom threaded the Multiverse into what we now call the Sacred Timeline, and we just learned that the loom also works as a failsafe to erase anything and everything that isn't supposed to be there in the event that the TVA fails to do the job they were charged to do, which is to erase every branched timeline that appears as they jeopardize the wellbeing of the Sacred Timeline and every life and thing living in them.
    Is HWR a villain? The Internet is making him out to be one, but when you look at the story we've been told, he's done everything that he could to save the Multiverse and all the countless lives they all sustain. He chose a life of solitude and watched over them for millions of years, allowing them to live as free as he possibly could. The only condition he put in place is that they didn't cause a Nexus Event, the very thing that causes the rebirth of Branched Timelines, as branches lead to a future with him in it.
    This story picks up after HWR has spent millions of years in solitude as some form of penance, who now seeks to find someone else to take over his life's work, keeping the universe together, keeping it safe from his infinite variants that who almost certainly bring about the destruction to the whole of time and space. This story was like a snake eating its own tail. Loki wasn't the only one repeating things he had already done, but so was the TVA with its constant pruning of Nexus Events, but also HWR spending millions of years trying to solve the Branched Timeline equation he has no answer to, it's tiring and he wants to finally rest. Man has done everything man can possibly do.
    Maybe that's why he chose a god to take over. HWR had been playing god and quickly learned that he had limitations and could never do what a god does. Might he have chosen Loki because he wasn't as self-centered as any of the gods that we were introduced to at Omnipotence City? Loki was redeemable as his story had previously shown. HWR couldn't just give Loki the job, because Loki wasn't in the right head space for it yet, and HWR told us that during the first season finale: ruclips.net/video/xyfwr861cjs/видео.htmlsi=5nlGqgDX7-3BdAzP&t=162
    Loki's had his journey, and he has changed. And he finally accepted the job. What comes next should be interesting. While the TVA was going to $#!+, the Council of Kangs were allowed to toil, which is something new. They work in the TVA's blind spots and very likely Loki's too. Will one of them find something left behind by HWR, something that'll allow them to work around his control?
    The next phase is sure to be a lot of fun, and I certainly hope Loki is part of it. He should be able to make his own avatar, allowing him to visit worlds and possibly participate, but I guess we'll see.

    • @snorpenbass4196
      @snorpenbass4196 Год назад

      No, HWR mass-murdered billions of realities and untold numbers of lives, he's no hero. He didn't sacrifice anything, he was exiled there. His plan was always to be set free from his exile, not to stay and watch the "sacred timeline". He was exiled precisely because he was the worst Kang, not because of any nice motivations. In many ways, he's the opposite of Loki - Loki started wanting power and got wiser, HWR-Kang started with knowledge and wisdom and ended power-hungry.

    • @G1Transformed
      @G1Transformed Год назад

      @@snorpenbass4196 Sounds like you are confusing HWR (the guy we see in Loki) with Kang (the guy we saw in Quantumania). HWR wasn't exiled anywhere. He stayed where he was because someone must watch over all of time, which is exactly what Loki has to do now.
      I'd argue that a universe has much more than billions of lives, but lives are lives. This series proved several times that pruning timelines/people isn't the end of life, but a reset.
      Mobius, OB, Cassey and B15 were all from branched timelines erased before this story began, and we saw them on their branched timelines again before they were started their new lives at the TVA. Pruned timelines are hairs on your body. You can shave them down, but they grow back. Pruning resets a timelines.
      What did Loki do with Victor at the end of the story? Huh! He reset him and his story. Imagine that.

    My theory is that the Kangs and the time war killed whatever was keeping time alive. He who remains created the Loom to put time on life support, because he couldn't fix it as he wasn'ta god, but needed to prune branches. Without pruning, the loom would fail, and time would die. Loki breathed life into time by sacrificing his liberty, as a god he replaced the heart of time/life with himself.
    Renslayer getting pruned and the TVA pruning Kangs, puts her and them on Loki's doorstep tho.

    I just can't believe this show managed to give us, not only loki the god of stories, but loki the holder of the multiuniverse, quite literally holding the entirety of the multiverse, he became atlas, they finally let us have what we always wanted, we knew the immense potential loki had in the comics and they gave it to us. I'm not sure we'll ever see this loki again, part of me wants Tom to retire from the character, but another part of me can't concieve a future were the mcu defends the multiverse without having an encounter with THIS loki. I think even in voice-over we need to see him return to let us know that he was the one who gathered the main players.

    My wild theory is that this God of Stories Loki could replace the function of The Beyonder in the Secret Wars film? Hes alot more familiar and relatable than a leisure suit wearing deity obsessed with disco and humanity! Lol I can see them combining both versions of Secret Wars into one film. In order to keep Kang or maybe Doom from corrupting the multiverse as it decays and Incursions destroy universe after universe Loki grabs what ever universes and heroes are left to create battleworld or if battleworld is created by the villain Loki is responsible for making sure the heroes of different universes still exist and can stop them? What ever the case I still think we are going to see the “sun shine on the brothers Thor & Loki yet again”. Best finale to a Marvel Disney Plus show! Wandavision would’ve been perfect had the finale not devolved into predictable 3rd act action beats. This elegantly wrapped things up in a way that was so emotionally satisfying for Lokis development and arc.

      From what I can tell they are adapting Secret Wars 2015, introducing Pre-Retcon Beyonder from 1984 is probably out of the question given how powerful he is/was. However, I can see them adapting Secret Wars 2015 and using the Beyonders, along with Kang as the replacement for Owen Reece.
      Don't get me wrong, I would love to see PR Beyonder but they will absolutely mess him up if introduced due to his power level.

    The finale is very unclear, but I like to imagine that this is basically the creation of the multiverse, consisting of the MCU, the various Sony Spider-Man projects, the Fox Marvel movies from X-Men to Elektra, the Ghost Rider films, Howard the Duck, Man-Thing, the old Captain America movies, the Bill Bixby Incredible Hulk universe, the various unrelated Punisher movies, the 2003 Hulk film, the made for television Dr. Strange movie, etc. There's SO MUCH Marvel history to tap into with the multiverse in either What If...?, MCU shows such as Marvel Zombies and the Spider-Man Freshman/Sophomore years shows set in different universes, and cameos in Secret Wars and Kang Dynasty. And that's not even scratching the surface because that's not taking into account the abundance of animated and foreign shows that can be pulled from.

    Let me share a theory, Loki turned the Loom into the Ygdrassil at For All Time. So Loki’s creation became reality since the beginning of time.
    So when the Ancient Asgard study the Multiverse they never saw a loom they found a tree. The tree of Ygdrassil so when Odin eventually teaches it to children Loki and Thor. Odin is actually teaching them Loki’s creation.
    To further blow your mind, everything that happens in the MCU happens through Ygdrassil that Loki can control. So every humiliation, defeat, beatdown that happens to every Loki in the multiverse happens is because Loki wills it.

    The one thing I still don't understand is what Loki actually DID to save the timelines.
    Like, the whole reason the timelines die without the loom is because of all the Kang variants who necessarily come into existence without the loom. So what exactly did Loki's magic do to protect the timelines from Kang's infinite variants? Is that supposed to be something we'll see later?
