    Well Stewart, what can I say. To my way of thinking you have combined the beauty of the wood's natural ripple with subtle colours. That was a master class in the use of colour to enhance nature.
    The colour scheme took me all the way back to the mid to late 1960s, I remember back then my wife having a dress using those colours. Thank goodness you have grown out of splattering, as you age you will get into dribbling!

    Very nice result. The colouring is excellent and I love the line around the edge of the bowl. I think, at this time of the year when its damp,, lacqering tends to be 'blooming' awful but the microcrystaline wax gave an excellent shine. As a matter of interest I tried some car lacquer, using zn A1 filter, it gave a glass like shine but got through the filter and it left me gasping for for a few days.
    Thanks
    James

    • @stewartfurini
      @stewartfurini  4 года назад +1

      Cheers, James - this was a lovely piece of wood to work on, and it sold for £53 so a nice sum to donate to cancer research. My experiences with lacquer have been pretty much limited to chestnut products and Hycote, which is a car lacquer in a spray can - certainly the air smells more when I've used the Hycote...

    Very well done. Somehow, as soon as I saw the rippled (tiger, here in the States) maple, I knew the orange would be coming out. 😄 I'm torn as to whether the yellow improved it or not. Perhaps your friend will get you another blank to make the comparison.

    • @stewartfurini
      @stewartfurini  4 года назад

      Thanks, Bill....watching it back, I think the camera didn't film the first coat of yellow so it looks like I'm putting yellow over orange, but in fact it was a coat of yellow that went on off camera but wasn't deep enough for me. That said, I think it's a great idea for Phil to give me another piece to play with!
