Please be aware that woodturning is a hazardous activity. These videos are only intended to show you what I do - they are not tutorials.
....................................................
Since I started making these videos in 2017, I have been lucky enough to receive the support of some manufacturers with materials to use in my videos. Since May 2018, Chestnut Products have provided me with stains, an iridescent paints sample set, lacquers and waxes. I'd like to thank them for their kind and generous support. Martin Saban-Smith has provided me with a sample set of Intrinisic Colours.
All other products and tools, unless where indicated, have been bought from suppliers at retail prices. Products mentioned in my videos are for information purposes so that viewers know what I have used.
After the beaten of wood worms it comes very nice piece well done Stewart take care about the worms because they can cause a lot of trouble in the workshop and you will lose a lot of the wood, treat it before the worms move all around. Bye Stewart looking forward for the next video bye till now bye.
Thanks, Laurence! Fingers crossed about the woodworm.......eek....
Using the same great quality paint..as decorative artist.. great company
It was an eye opener moving to better quality paint from the cheap ones I used when I started out!
The added colors are quite subtle but really pop in those outside shots. Thanks
Cheers, Derek! Hard to get the colours to show while it's on the lathe...
The camera didn't do it justice till the stills, very nice Stewart looks a keeper to me 👍👍
Cheers, Barry - it's living on the coffee table...for now!
Interesting piece, Stewart. I think the texture is more the star of this one than the colors. Take care and stay safe.
Bill
Cheers, Bill - I agree!
@@stewartfurini It was also good to see someone else using their corded tools instead of abandoning perfectly good tools for cordless.
That's a keeper! The tricks of light are subtle but effective. (Sorry about the "S" word.) The brush work was well done, a nice light touch to keep the black in the deeper textures.
And I'm sure the worms are jealous of how fast you can get through wood with that tool.
How dare you use the 's' word! Seriously, glad you like it Bill!! Cheers!
Close-up pictures always reveal the beauty of texture and color. Had I not watched this video and only saw the pictures I would’ve thought you used a torch to burn the rim. Another beautiful piece of art. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Holly!
Fai lavori di mio gusto! Ed è un piacere seguire i tuoi video sia per la tua arte e là qualità delle rprese video 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Grazie, Claudio!
Bravo mon capitaine
Thank you so much!
Maybe the best Furini ..................... so far!
Wow...thank you, Louis!!! Cheers!!
Hi Stewart, Fantastic. And now I have actually used my Proxxon I will be trying this and a video in the next few weeks.
Great demo as usual. Take care Stewart. Cheers, Huw
Fantastic! I see you were releasing a video on it, Huw - will check it out when I've got out of holiday mode!!
That is really great, Stewart!
Cheers, Rick!!
Brilliant job my friend, keep up your artistic creations. S
Thank you, Shane! Glad you like this one. Cheers!
The red is the one color that simply doesn’t cut it for me. The others are great. Another beautiful piece Stewart. Thank you.
Cheers, Doug...yep, the red is a bit disappointing for me too....
Told you I'd get round to your video some point. At least it's not 500 miles later.
Looks great and love the idea of hiding imperfections with the texturing. May have to give texturing a go myself soon.
Haha - nice one, Jiggsy!!! Texturing can get you out of a problem some times! Great to meet you at the Woodturning Weekender. Cheers!
Looks great, Stewart! I love it!
Glad you like it, Billy! Cheers!
Black was good, but I'm with you, the gentle colour enhanced the texture.
Cheers, Debs!
I agree with others that this is one of your finer pieces. Just a thought, at the end of your videos try displaying your pieces in a nice brass or chrome stand.
Thanks, Robert - delighted you like this one so much! Display idea sounds interesting too! Cheers!!
Yep great turning love the final result. And YET AGAIN A FINISHED PRODUCT 👏 😮 👏
Thank you! It's becoming a habit!
Awesome work as always
Thank you so much, Sam! Much appreciated. Cheers!!
Masterpiece
thank you so much, Robert!
That's a interesting looking piece I really like it . It has a Aztec kinda look to it .
Cheers, Glen! Much appreciated!!
Beautiful job! Brilliant. How would you approach applying lacquer after the centers been turned already? Tape of the center be for you spray?
Thanks Kevin. I prefer to wax the wooden interior so if I put lacquer on the rim after the middle has been turned out I would re-sand the wood. Masking it off to protect from the lacquer is a bit fiddly and irksome! Cheers!
Nice work Stuart 🏆 :-)
Thank you!
Well Stewart, that's my favorite of all texturing! Couldn't see much of the colors, but overall, looks fabulous! Thanks for sharing your creativity with me again. Stay safe, Vickie
Many thanks, Vickie - delighted you like this one so much!!
One word fabulous
Thank you, Barry - much appreciated!
Stewart, this is my favorite piece I have seen you create. Not sure why, exactly, but the complimentary relationship between the texture and colors truly appeal to me. Thanks for bringing us along!
Thank you, Greg! Much appreciated!!
Nice work, thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
stewart, I really like that piece. I'll give it a try. I liked the way you applied the JoSonja paints.
Thank you - have fun trying it out!
Under the shop light, I couldn't really see the colors but outside they seem to just almost glow. Really nice job, Stewart! 💜
Cool, thanks, Tracey!
Absolutely gorgeous. Looks a bit like a stone texture in the pictures
Thank you! Glad you liked this one. Cheers!!
Oooh, I really like this one! Gonna have to try one for myself! Thanks for the idea.
Cheers, Jeanie - have fun!
Lovely piece as usual,as you were turning it on the lathe and it was reflecting at different angles, the ccolouring was quite beautiful.as usual a masterclass in colouring and texturing
Thank you so much 😀
A very stunning piece. Great job. Thanks for sharing
My pleasure! Chees, Jude!!
Awesome work Stewart - as always. One of these days I am going to get up the courage to try colour!! Have a piece on the lathe right now that could be a candidate. Like you say - if I don't like it, a minute or two with a bowl gouge takes me right back to bare wood!! My wife is all about "no colour" - but she is not home right now. I will let you know, thanks again for sharing. Dennis
Go for it!
very nice, ill have to try that one or similar ;)
Thank you - have fun trying it out!
Wondering why you do not worry about the overspray onto your lathe and room.
I liked the box sheild you used in one video.
...should probably take more care but the moving parts of the lathe are usually protected by the size of the wood on the chuck...
Thanks for sharing the techniques on this piece. Great result.
Hopefully Mr. Woodworm and his fellow family members has vacated the Furini residence.
The piece in the beginning was an interesting design and colour in the background. Are you going to do another video on how you did that?
Take care my friend and stay safe and well
Cheers
Harold
Cheers, Harold - I may do a video on that technique.....a video of it exists but that was for a paid club demo so I can't use that footage....one day maybe!
That's a real nice save from a worm infested piece of wood. I once turned a piece of carobwood and had a warm crawl out when I stop the lathe quite fascinating. However the warm was not impressed.
NIce! Bet that bug had shock!!
I think we were both shocked on that one
Seeing the glare on bottom..i would love to see gold brass in middle
Nice idea!
I like the cross texture you added this time. And the colors work well together in sheen form. Very subtle on camera. Guessing more distinct in person. Will it get the cost of clear lacquer? Or is it destined for another spin on the lathe and the gouge?
Thanks, Valerie....hmmm....still debating.....it is at least living on the coffee table for now!
Very nice work!! I'm interested in knowing what wheel you had on your grinder to create the texturing effect? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated my friend. Excellent job!!!!!
Thanks, Brian - glad you like it. The cutter is either a Rotarex 50mm mini circular sawblade, or an Arbortech one. The Arbortech ones seem impossible to find at the moment. I'll be doing a Proxxon video very soon taking a closer look at it and the cutters it can use.
Hi Stewart what is the sanding brush you used and where did you buy it?
Hi - nylon brushes like these: www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-589713-Filament-Wheel-Coarse/dp/B0019JMQ0S/ref=sr_1_11?crid=21XGSM8TX47AS&dchild=1&keywords=nylon+abrasive+wheel&qid=1630053462&sprefix=nylon+abrasiv%2Caps%2C155&sr=8-11
CAPTAIN TEXTURE
Haha....thanks, Mike!
Love the texture but the colour hasn't quite worked, it's far to subtle for a Furini masterpiece
Haha...I know....might be some neon green over the whole thing!
