  • This is the part two video of the experiment about direct sun versus Transplanting Bok Choy’s in zone 7B here in the Atlanta Georgia area. Since it is difficult to Planting Bok Choy here in my area due to the fluctuating temperatures which makes the bok choy Bolt, I tried to do couple of things. I sold the seeds very late March 11 which is around 40°F to 60°F in my area, I direct so in some seeds and I started seedlings in my indoor seed starter, and I also have planted three different types of bok choy. A baby bok choy, a Shanghai bok choy, and a tall bok choy, this is the result of the experiment.

I love how you experiment the transplant and the direct sow, the results are so exciting! How did you keep them so pest free? They look great!

Super fun. Mine always bolt but I started some mid March and have hope here in Washington state. We won't get regular warmth for a long time

I'm a pechay grower and I can say both method should grow bigger. I think it's not getting enough sunlight especially at the middle, and that's why the stalk are not fat , also it's overcrowding.

I found your channel today and I really enjoy your content. The information you share is really helpful such as the dates you started and the weather conditions your plants face. This past spring I directly sow bokchoy and also sow inside. The indoor bokchoy were so sad looking and leggy! I live in Illinois zone 6a. Keep growing!

This spring weather was so weird. Like yours, temps went really low then swung really high here at zone 6 Utah. My tomatoes and peppers are still struggling. My bokchois, pakchois, etc have all bolted.

I live in Florida, and I’m planning to plant bok choy end of July for Fall. Is that possible?

Hello. Might I suggest try to select a heat tolerant variety and grow in partial shade if you try July. Personally July may still be too hot there for Bok Choy as you need temps no lower than 55 and no higher than 75 to have good Bok Choy. So maybe October would be a good time. You can try growing Sweet potato vines right now for a good summer harvest for greens

How are you dealing with slugs? 😅 They like my bok choy more than any other greens in my garden.
