I bought this exact same card about 2 weeks ago. I love it. I can keep the fans spinning at just 5%, which keeps it at under 30 degrees idle. Really sleek and refined looks too, not as "edgy" as the other 980s

I have 290x toxic in 2 way crossfire since Feb 2014 and i think it will stay for a year more at least.. My friend ordered 980 omega extreme i guess so would be nice to see that competing in front of me. Anyways looking for SLI video.... Great video as always..

Good video, I like how you emphasise on 1440p as that seems a much more reasonable resolution for gaming atm then 4k. Too bad a lot of benchmarks you can find go 1080p and then 4k ... *coughlinuscough*
Im currently playing on 1440p using a 780ti SC. My best cooler experience was with the twinfrozr series tho

Got this exact card a couple of weeks ago, along with a 4790k (upgraded from 1100t and 6970). So far it seems like it was worth it. I love GTA 4 with a bunch of mods and ENBs never droping below 60. My old rig wouldn't even break 30. Its a solid card. The passive cooling when not pushing it was what sold it for me tbh. GG evga.

Best explanation for downsampling (dynamic super resolution) is that it's the crudest, most-direct form of AA. Looks the best, and is the most taxing form.

ACX 2.0... Looks EXACTLY like the models from last year, you know, those models that 80% makes noise at a certain speed.. A noise that the guarantee does not cover... This is my 2nd EVGA buy and the last one.

Uh, my 970 (ACX 2.0) makes no noise at all, and is much cooler than older ACX designs. You might be thinking about the original ACX design, this is 2.0.

I previously I've used Gigabyte Windforce 780Ti and build quality combined with reflashing issues AND the fact that my NEC and EIZO went berserk with strange frequency changes during high loads, made me rethink next card's branding. This 980 by Evga looks promising :)

I have the exact same one and love it. I'm a little salty that frames aren't that much higher in some games as I was expecting but then again I'm pretty sure that will change when the drivers mature a little bit. Nevertheless, I don't see myself upgrading for a little while as I'm mainly just gonna be gaming at 1080p.

Is a Corsair RM750 adequate to run a pair of 970s?
I'm running one at the moment and I'm wondering if it's reasonable to get another any time soon. I'll put some additional details down below.
    i5-4690k
    Corsair H100i closed loop cooler.
    Asrock extreme 6 mobo
    7 fans: 3x 140mm, 4x 120mm
    PCIE x1 wifi card.
    4 sticks of DDR3
2 HDDs and 1 SSD. Probably going to add one more of each eventually.

So I would need to upgrade the PSU to get the most out of the system, but I can do that a bit later?
I guess that's not the worst thing ever since it will be a while before I have any use for the overclocking performance.

Hello, Big fan of your channel. I have a question of performance and value. I recently built a system using the evga gtx 770 sc, and I am left wanting a little more. I have the opportunity to buy locally, second-hand, either another evga gtx 770 sc for SLI configuration (requiring a power supply upgrade as well) for $300 roughly, or a single evga gtx 980 acx for $500, replacing my current single 770. Which will give me better performance, the twin gtx770's in SLI, or the single gtx 980 acx 2.0? Which would be better on my thinning wallet?

    • @JJVgaming
      @JJVgaming 9 лет назад

Though I am not tek syndicate, I would get one 980 because the performance is the same and if you have a low watt psu rating you won't have to upgrade because the gtx 980 consumes less power than 770.

Stays really cool. I got a good OC'er, I've been able to hit 1550mhz on the core clock, which should catch me up to one of your cards Tek Syndicate :P

Can you include test data for newly released AAA games? Testing old games like bioshock infinite doesn't really say much. Maybe adding Assasin's Creed Unity to the rotation would help. The game has it's flaws but it still looks and plays well. It's also very taxing on old cards.

I put two of these in an X99 Deluxe build with an overclocked 5820K as a VR and flight sims rig. It will eat normal games alive but when it comes to flight sims and VR, there's still plenty these cards can't do. True, with sims they don't use the GPU's much, and in VR you need SILLY frame rates and most software is still early / unoptimised, but hopefully things are maturing with VR and we will see what the 980's can do, especially if NVidia sorts out VR-SLI as they have been promising.
Just need to treat myself to a new monitor or three. Was thinking about the ASUS ROG Swift but ASUS seem to be struggling with quality lately. Lots of complaints about the swift. Will get ironed out I expect, but on top of the other early adoption woes I have been having, I am steering away from the 144Hz beast for now.

I got this card last week. I tried to play FarCry 4 on my 2 560TI OC in SLI and the game would hardly run at medium settings. I got just one 980GTX SC and.. Wow the performance probably tripled if not more.. I now play on Ultra settings and the game plays as smooth as eggs.. CPU I7 2600K, 1155 Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z z68 mobo, 8gig DDR3 1600. Not bad for a rig coming up on 3 years old.
What I found funny, where i ordered the GPU online. This card is/was 560 bucks.. Then I look right under it, there is the regular EVGA 980GTX with the stock G-force single squirrel fanned heat sink.. It was 630 dollar's at the time of my purchase last week and was recently dropped to 609 dollars a day ago! Who the hell does there marketing? lol.... Obvious choice, worth every penny!

Theyll be joining my new 4930k, to enhance my current rig(which barely needs enhancing) of a 3930k and dual 780s. But actually, at 1440p, the intense games are showing some slowdowns here and there. And why would I turn down to less AA, when I drop $1500 on barely needed hardware? Amiright?

I got two MSI GTX 970 gaming cards, some games run well with SLI i've noticed allot of games dont... made this pc to future proof myself seeing as i was running an amd 4850 card and an i7 920 on the first p6t deluxe motherboard from asus before.
I feel like i notice things ALLOT more, like fps drops in some games just randomly dip below 20 frames while normally running steady at 100+ and all that kind of stuff
Maybe its because i'm used to running new games at low quality presets or something i dont know, DA inq has some weird square textures popping up in snowy and desert areas and farcry 4 while flying fps drops a ton and at night shadows quadruple.
Dont know what you guys think about all that stuff but otherwise i'm pretty happy with my new pc and i hope it can last me 5+ years like the old one did.
( btw would you go for a 24-27 inch 1080P 144Hz G-sync monitor or a 27 inch 1440 ips monitor, i mostly play adventure games and rpg's and sometimes casually play CS:GO and Bf4 )

Would it be worth upgrading from a GTX 770 EVGA SuperClocked to this?
(And by this I mean the GTX 980 SuperClocked WITHOUT ACX, just the basic SuperClocked version.)

Silly question but.. should I buy a single GTX 980 or SLI GTX 970s? I've read about something called microstuttering but I'm not too sure on it. This is for whenever I build my own gaming PC in the future.

For anyone who has a GTX 970 is it bad or any equivalent graphics cards is it bad to run the fan at a low speed constantly or should you use your fans in high temperatures?

If it wasn't clear (because it's not) - the benchmarks were ONE card (even though you see him setup an SLI config), toward the end he says SLI benchmarks coming later.

Hello can you tell me what you think about my future set up? what can I improve or will it work.
    I'm planning to run 3 BenQ XL2730Z 144Hz 1ms 27 inch Gaming Monitors (2560x1440)
    with this next setup:
    -Intel® Core™ i7-4790K 4.0 GHz
    -MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition
    -8GB (4GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (G.SKILL Ripjaws X)
-EVGA ACX 2.0 Superclocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card (Maxwell) (Single Card)
    -240GB HyperX Predator PCIe Gen2 x4 (HHHL)SSD - 1400MB/s Read & 600MB/s Write
    -1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 32MB Cache 7200RPM HDD
will this set up be able to support the 3 monitors or should a get a different graphics card? 2 gtx 980 ti? or something like that
I would appreciate the opinion or anyone.
    Thanks

pls buy 3 ASUS PG278q 27" monitors, because they can deliver you the G-sync technology.
It works perfect with nVidia Cards.
Benq monitors have "Free-Sync " technology
works only with Video Cards from AMD.

To all the people talking about how much higher the temps are under load for the EVGA cards compared to other brands is because the heat sink isn't making contact with the gpu. I have heard its a problem affecting their 900 series cards.
