This game was way ahead of its time. I remember playing this so many times at the Arcade in my local bowling alley complex. The mechanics and the graphics were so fresh compared to the core series Mario Kart games out at the time.
This is what Mario kart 8 should have been. And this is what Mario kart 9 should inspire to be. Hands down the most unique Mario kart from esthetics to how the color pops to the noises- everything is beautiful and amped up in this version. We need the next Mario kart to be bold like this

Yep they even use Peach, Toad and Bowser's former voice actors. I think this is because the first mario kart arcade game was after the Double Dash!! and the sounds are now part this series which I find pretty cool that they'll stuck with the nostalgia. Or they just reused some of the old sounds to save time.

Really bugs me how the US version is so much weaker by comparison (no CC select, no kart select, no ability to choose to continue to the next track even by paying, and probably even more I can't remember.) Sure some of that can be justified by not having the banapassport data card, but you really should be able to both continue to the next track without selecting everything again and select CC.

But I’ve also never seen this gamemode before. I thought this game only had single races. And what’s a BanaPassPort? Do the coins have the same function as normal Mario Kart? What does the red M button do? Does your console even has one? Does this game actually have online modes via national match? If so, why? Wouldn’t the multiplayer just be through the connected consoles?

Mk8 is seen by nintendo as the current definitive Kart experience. This would only work as DLC for mk8 Deluxe/ MK9 not as an actual game. Too little content or options are available for this game as it stands.
