    I have lived on Pine island for almost 8 years now, I have kept a house in Indiana for multiple reasons, but I have a pair of really good waders there, they will be here in 3 days lol

    if your in the port charlotte area i reccomend you go fishing at live oak point, which is right before the punta gorta bridge, the jacks snook redfish and black drum have been all over the place i like to find a little beach spot and then wade out, theres also a bunch of abandon peirs which are loaded with fish if you can wade out to them

      I know those piers but I never thought of wading them. thats a great idea. Are they over there now? I know that area slows down in summer.

    I love wading the harbor, but I do worry about the sharks. I had one destroy a mullet about 20 feet from me last year. Do they concern you?

    • @CharlotteHarborFisherman
      @CharlotteHarborFisherman  29 дней назад +1

      Only when I see them lol. I try not to think about it. I also stay close to the trees and fairly shallow. We are using it for bait or did he just crush it in a school? How big a shark? I don’t wait as much now that it’s summertime when all the big southern stingrays and the sharks are much more active.

    Great video and I just found your channel. I’m now a wade fisherman in the Ft. Myers area since moving here from KY and bass fishing from a boat for years. Like you I fish the Lil John a ton. What jig head and size do you like in these shallow areas? Also I’ve been wading wet with beach boots but have considered waders. Do you wear the waders even during hot weather? Also may I ask what rod and reel setup your using? I’m experimenting looking for the right length and weight rod for wading these types of areas. Fluoro leader I’m assuming? Thanks

      Once it gets real hot, I stop wading for a few months. Or hit the beaches for snook. So no waders. I’m using 20 of flouro but once I run out of it, I’m switching to 20 and 30 pound mono. I hear it actually is better and it’s a lot cheaper. I’ll use three jig head sizes 1/8th 16th and a quarter ounce depending on the depth and how much grass I’m getting stuck in. I’m using a 2500 pen with a 7 1/2 bull bay rod. 10 lb braid. I was going to elaborate on my last video how much I like waiters over wet waiting, but the video is getting too long. I got an infection in my toenail from wading so I switched to waders. I feel a lot more protected with waiters. First of all I stay dry second of all no jellyfish tentacles stinging me no leeches no mud in my toes no bacteria on my skin or potential cut I may have. And it gives me a little bit more protection from a possible stingray or even a little nip from a shark, although I never anticipate that to happen. The only drawback is yes you’re going to be warmer when you’re wearing waiters and like I said starting about now through September, I won’t do as much waiting unless it’s along the beach.

      @@CharlotteHarborFisherman Great info and thanks.
      On a funny note our setups are almost identical. 2500 Shimano, 7’ and 7’6” rods, and same size jigs. Likewise I’m spending more time now on the beach but really like those oyster flat areas like you were fishing. As a totally land based angler now I don’t have the access I would if I still owned a boat and am somewhat new to the area but am learning more all of the time. Have a great one. Good fishing. And thanks for your insight.
      Oh and on the mono/ fluoro decision I’ve used both and although I haven’t caught as many fish as you and other anglers who’ve fished here for years, I can’t tell a definitive difference but wanted to ask in case I’m missing something.

      @@AlanJohnsonSunbird a kayak can get you on the flats as well. There’s a launch on 19th street in boca grande. Also flats in pg down past burnt store marina. Those you can walk to
