It was cool that you guys showed us the map of the island and told us the plan, made it feel even more like we were touring the island with you. Talk about a beautiful wedding venue! I bet the inside of the church is beautiful. The golden hour at the fortress was beautiful!!
Suomenlinna is really fantastic - there is a lot to see, but when you go there in Summer when it is really warm, the main attraction is not the guns or the museums or old buildigs - people go there to have a picnic by the sea. The ferries are full and there is a lot of people, and yet the area is so large you will always find an empty and even isolated spot somewhere. There are also good cafes and restaurants and an excellent summer theatre. People go swimming from the rocks or they arrive by their own sailing boats. The tunnels are pretty scary, you chose the one with actual daylight...but there is no real danger in the tunnels, and you never get lost - for a very long time that is. It is the cliffs and walls where unfortunate accidents have happened. So, you always have to be careful to watch where you step and not just look at the scenery. One of my favorite places in Helsinki. And to be honest, there are many other islands right next to the city centre that all have their special character and something you will not find on any other island. Pihlajasaari island is a paradise.
Island looks super with it's interesting Cathedral/lighthouse, dry dock & Fortress. Really an added bonus seeing it all from above too, with your great aerial views, loved them! Fortress looked huge & did look a bit scary inside especially as it got even darker once you went in - dont think I'd venture in, so it enabled me to see inside & it looks very interesting. That Ferry DID look close!!! Loved the way you captured it through the window opning! Brill! Enjoyed all the beautiful sunset shots too! Helsinki & it's Harbour look beautiful at night!, so well lit! Looks a great place to visit, another one on the list!!! ! Thanks ....Look forward to seeing the national park.....
The scenery here again is so beautiful. That lighthouse church was a really interesting combination and loved the drone shots. Kirsty was so brave just going for it in that creepy tunnel!! I'd love to visit that sea fortress. It seemed like you had a great boat tour - and it went so late!
How amazing is that lighthouse!! H for Helsinki that’s so cool, loved all your drone shots you captured they were stunning! The day looked beautiful and sunny! That dry dock is coool too would love to see it filled !
Just found your channel and new sub here. We have a lot in common and also plan to sell everything and travel the world, we a just a little older.😉 We plan to spend 6 months in Europe in 2022 and will be using some of your videos as inspiration. Good luck and safe travels. We look forward to following each other’s adventures. John and Bev
Beautiful video of Suomenlinna the entrance looked like Kings landing! It’s just as well you managed to get the last boat off the other island at the start!
I’d forgotten a lot of the area but I remembered the sites the minute they came up on you video ...I loved it...also everything looked so different for us cause we went in December and it was ankle deep snow in some areas
Beautiful shots of the church! Would definitely make for a great place to get married! Oh no...those dark tunnels are definitely not for me, looked really eerie! Love how you did the drone shot showing the sea fortress. Looks amazing from above. The sunset is stunning 🤩 Wow! Cool shot of the ship coming in! Love the harbour lights on your way back!
Can’t believe I (Kirsty) just strolled into the tunnels, must’ve been feeling brave that day😂 We were so pleased to catch a glimpse of the fortress before sunset and then to see the boat sailing away right there was awesome! Thanks for watching ☺️
The tunnels in the fortress were really cool and really eery at the same time. You got some really beautiful aerial footage of the fortress too. You guys had such an adventurous day, and it's so nice that you were able stay on the island all the way till dusk!
Helsinki's architecture is extremely impressive and you luckily had such nice sunny days over there as it seems. The drone shots are very impressive guys! Sunset time and the views made your chilly walk a bit easier I hope! 🤗
It was beautiful but it rained all morning this day then the sun came out for us in the afternoon, that’s why it got so late trying to fit everything in😅
I didn't expect Souminlinna to be so built up especially seeing the other islands first, looks so awesome. The church looks so beautiful, great drone footage. So cool that the church has the lighthouse, really interesting. Loved the facts about the dry dock. I agree definitely eery. The sea fortress looks proper impressive. So cool that you got to stay there til late.
Yeh we had planned to only be on the first island for a couple hours so we’d have more time on this bigger island, but the nature on Vallisaari had other plans for us!🐍😂
That fortress looks incredible! It’s so cool to be able to view it from the air thanks to your drone - so awesome! You guys are making us so excited to go and visit Finland one day 🤗
My home town (and country) looks so beautiful on your vid's, thank you. I was born in Helsinki, live in neighboring Vantaa now. Lived half of my life in Northern Carelia, from where my parents are. (Pls check Karelia Suite composed by Jean Sibelius.)
That's so cool how the church is also a lighthouse! It is gorgeous and would be a very nice venue to get married. And nope, I would not go into the spooky, dark corridor. I loved all the footage you guys captured at dusk!
Wow, You knew lighthouse 4 short for Helsinki. In the Navy old story goes: As long Suomenlinna sends .... Helsinki is still ours ofcource this is a myth, because in crisis they turn them off, so the real Navy navigate. Beautiful story thow.
As Finn I have to admit that the two most beautiful cities in Europe are Stockholm and St.Petersburg. Rothenburg ob der Tauber is the most beautiful town, at least of what I have visited.
We did plan to visit Stockholm via Turku but those plans were changed due to the pandemic so our next country is a completely different one, hopefully one day we'll get to visit Stockholm. We loved St. Petersburg but didn't have the best weather when we visited.
Too bad the cells for death row prisoners during the civil war weren't open while you visited. Because those are EERIE to visit. I worked there as a guide one summer during an audio installation, and it actually had an age limit of 13. Many people came out of there either terrified or teary-eyed. I'm not one to believe in ghosts or spirits generally, but being in those cells really gets to you in a way that is hard to explain.
Can only imagine how eerie they must be. It's impossible not to feel it when walking around places like that. It's a strange combination of eerie and heartbreaking.
In Finland The Law says: If you are stranded because of ship or boat mishap, you can burlger in any house or building for your survival. No charges pressed, use the would, but if start drinking their rom, ehh... not good.
I know that ferry terminal well. When I was 18, which would be 1974 I was to meet this girl that I had met at Mustikkamaa midsummer festival to go to Suomenlinna. Then I got a call about a good car to buy. Bought the car, ran out of gas that they had drained, was hours late to the ferry terminal, no cell phones back then. But there she was "no big deal, lots of my friends have gone by" and Finns are punctual, being late is not cool. Spent the summer with her driving around Finland, she was 16. When school started, I brought her to my parents and my mother did not accept her. And her parents had just divorced, neither one wanting her. So I had to let her go, even though I was deeply in love. I introduced her to all my friends in Helsinki and Stockholm, both and told them that she is really nice and I was no longer with her. 26 years later I Googled her name (Google was new) as I was still in love. She ended up spending time here in Los Angeles and me spending time with her in Stockholm (she was still in touch with my old friends) and Kenya where she worked as a medical doctor for Doctors without Borders, she was sweet. Lasted for a few more years, started at that ferry terminal.
Thanks so much for watching you lovely people!😊
If you liked the video please give it a thumbs up 👍🏼
Funny to see this from the eyes of a stanger because i am one of the lucky ones to call this island my home :-)
You are definitely very lucky 😊

The golden hour at the fortress was beautiful!!
Craig loves a map and is way better at explaining routes than I am. The fortress was our favourite part ☺
Love your shots guys! amazing light house and beautiful sunset too! heard great things about Finland, hoping we could visit one day!
Thanks so much! 😊Definitely a place worth visiting!
Great shots of the departing ferry.
Very nice fly, this place is amazing my friend! 💚✨

Awesome! Thank you and best of luck with all your travels in 2022! 😊
What great views! We always love your drone shots. Wow, you really spent the whole day out and we can see why. So much to see and explore!
Yes it was a long day, especially as we spent the morning waiting for the rain to stop. Thankfully the boats fun late into the evening!
Beautiful video of Suomenlinna the entrance looked like Kings landing! It’s just as well you managed to get the last boat off the other island at the start!
😂 it does a bit!
Bravo :) Amazing new video !! Thanks again for the travel :) The drone shots are impressive

It’s a good thing we got to stay until dusk after staying a little too long on the first island😅

We thought it was really cool how the church is dual purpose and doubles as a lighthouse, clever idea.
Those rocky islands ❤️
They're really cool 😎

You may quess my favourite place there as I am Arsenal fan and did my military service in Finnish Field Artillery...

Kings gate and the cannons are the best in Suomenlinna.
They were Craig’s favourite too ☺️
Finnish nature is beautiful. Finland has over 70% only forest.
It is beautiful, we love that about this part of the world!
They kept prisoners in those holes in the tunnel.
No. There was separate prison. In fact there are some inmates working reconstucting there today.
