Even though you only went to the Arctic Circle it's very bold what you did going in the middle of winter with that amount of snow and the temps. I did the length of it to Prudhoe Bay, with the plunge into the Arctic Ocean, in late August 2022 and I know how hard it is physically and mentally. MAYBE if I lived in Alaska I'd try it but there's just no option for me living in the eastern US to go there in January. You have my admiration and also my suggestion to do the rest of it in the summer (late so you miss the mosquitos) so that you get to see Coldfoot, the Brooks Range with Atigun Pass and ultimately the plains that make up the last 75 miles or so to Prudhoe Bay. I'll never forget what I saw and how I felt driving that highway. Congratulations.

I just returned to the Bay Area from a run to Deadhorse in Late September. It was transcendant. A very different journey from my TUK run. I would love to do a wnter run such as you have done but an not equipt to do so. What a journey.

Thanks for watching. We had a CB radio, emergency supplies, extra food and clothing in case we got stuck, but thankfully we didn't have any troubles. Alaska in winter is a beautiful adventure!

I wonder if those semis that went by were ice road truckers. The highway looks different than it did on the show.

It’s a TV show. Truckers have been driving this road for many years before that show. Did you know that some companies quit using the company that show was about because they showed unsafe practices. I was driving this road doing communications maintenance long before that show. The people on the show were backhauling my SUV because it blew a head gasket and they went off the side and damaged it and then tried to avoid the full repair. It was on one of the shows and after that we didn’t use that company anymore.

Why? I drove a few hundred thousand miles for work on this road and never had a problem in a pickup or SUV.

I get it! What you don’t get is, that is a very dangerous road in the winter. You feel that you did something courageous. What you don’t get is there truck drivers out there risking their lives to provide for those who live and work in remote areas of Alaska. Yes, they are experienced drivers who can handle these types of conditions. You on the other hand are not! It’s really too bad that people only think of their own situation, and very little at that! You stop in the roadway to take pictures of yourselves. Had there been Semis heading towards one another they would have had to make a quick decision of just ending your lives or their own. It’s stupid stuff like this that people do not understand. Of course , you think you are so brave for your achievement.
Putting your child in harms way for your pleasures in life. It’s -20* and no consideration for your child’s safety or yours nor those who transport goods ( Truck Drivers)
    Not impressed at all!
There is a difference between bravery and stupidity, get to know the difference!
