I will now only consider shops that have nearly this level of preparation and protection. Thank you for making that clear. One my biggest fears is infection from improper care.

Great video Lou. You clearly provide a very professional service and take the health and well-being of your customers very seriously. Brilliant attention to detail.

Having your ink bottles near that "red zone" dental bib area is a big mistake. That area is considered bio hazard and can easily cross contaminate when the machine I running near that area due to ink and blood splatter.

Hi Lous, I am most impressed with your meticulous preparation. I have designed and manufactured the special Hypograph tattoo machine for many years now. Stopped by New York when I attended a tattoo convention in Philadelphia and had a great time. Perhaps I'm due for an action replay.
If all studios were as dedicated to customers safety as in your excellent example, this form of art would be greatly enhanced. You're definitely setting the standards! Thanks for the video.

I work in as a theatre nurse, and I must admit you are as sterile as we are. Great to see though, I've seen many infected tattoos.

Thanks for the video. I'm a med student at SLU and I take time out of my schedule to teach kids in juvi various lessons. Today I'm teaching them about tattoo safety and this video helped a great deal. Thanks!

I think it's better to use an anti microbial hand soap instead, such as Provon. It also helps your tattoo or piercing heal faster. Available on Amazon.

When the tattoo is finished, you’re supposed to throw away the old ink, needles, gloves & wash your hands in front of the client too.

Although I've always been opposed to getting a tattoo -it just seemed like an unnecessary risky decision that you're 99% certain to regret-, I am actually genuinely considering getting one now, in my 20s. I'll admit, when I was younger I even looked down on people who got tattoos. Not anymore of course, I realised how stupid and naive I was. Until yesterday, I still didn't think I'd ever get one myself though. But in my random research of Celtic, while looking through symbols and runes. I eventually ended up on nordic runes, specifically one rune called "Ansuz". The meaning og the rune, as with most ancient runes, is complicated and with multiple interpretations. But the general consensus is that it's a symbol of: knowledge, intelligence, and/or reason. This rune resonated with me because I've always been a curious individual, even as a child. Always eager to learn. I guess you could say that my life is a chase for knowledge. I respect logic and reason, and try my best to exemplify it.
I somehow wanted to use this rune, as a symbol of my values and a reminder of what's important to me. I wanted to use it as a promise to myself, to always be reasonable and always learn new things. While thinking this, I had a passing thought. "What if I got this rune tattooed on my body?", it wasn't a serious thought. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Ignoring the danger of a tattoo, my main problem with getting a tattoo was that no matter what I came up with, It'd be impossible to think of a tattoo I'd not regret later. But this rune, it's made me reconsider that. Maybe this is actually something I'd not regret
It's a physical representation of what I've always "stood for" in life, and what I've always wanted to dedicate my life to. If there exists something worth permanently carving into my body, this is it. I'd also get to "use" the rune how I wanted. To the outside world, it'd be a representation of my values and goals. To myself, it would be a permanent constant reminder to not stray from reason or my search for knowledge. The permanent nature of a tattoo would make it a promise to myself I couldn't go back on, or forget.
Finally, considering that the rune is Norse, and that I'm Norwegian. It'd also be a reminder to myself and others where I come from. When I am out travelling in the world (I've always planned to move from home and travel to other countries), it'd remind me of home, and of my family. The more I think about it the more perfect it seems. I'm still not sure if I'll do it, I'm still afraid of the dangers of putting poisonous ink inside my skin. So I guess I'm looking for reassurance of the safety of it. Trying to see if all the benefits are worth the risk.

I work with a doctor in emerg who says a visor or mask and safety glasses should be on the tattooist face due to micro (mist) of blood from client..may not be..alot but over time to protect the one giving the tattoo..his or hers safety? what are your thoughts?.. I found your way of explaining things to be very solid..accurate and safe..Thanks a Bunch:)

while it IS true i think most dont do it bc of an aestethic reason, also disposable glases may be expensive on the long run i guess... acording to the biosafety course for tatto artist i took, the regulations un muy country are that we should also use quirurgical gloves, not regular látex, wich are not sterilized, p much se should be equiped as doctors!

MrFRANZA, why don't you informing yourself before making such slanderous stamements? People like you are what causes lynch mobs. I have gotten two tattoos at Lou's, and both times the artists did exactly what was potrayed in this video. I will be getting my third in a few weeks, and will be returning to Long Island's best tattoo parlor. I'll never go anywhere but Lou's.

Dude, it is a good video BUT CLOSE THE FAUCET!!!!!!!!!!!! It might be not such a difference for you now, but for wvery person whou does what you do (keeping the faucet open and lose water while not using) there are millions of liters wasted and millions of children dying of thirst, our jungles, rivers and forests are disappearing. And I definitely want a green planet for my children, grandsons and future generations. Think about it. Great Videos thought!!!
