      A lot of us understand why they're kneeling. It's the hyper nationalists like Trump who think they should be subservient to a cloth without question. And yes, it is a cloth. Men and women didn't die for the flag, they died for the constitution and the rights it ensures and protects. One of those rights being peaceful protest.

I put my life on the line to protect those right, both my kids are in the military right now doing the same thing. Correction. You don't exclusively own the national anthem. The NFL players are just as American as you are. It is THEIR anthem too.
      They are peacefully reminding us of this social injustice.
      This NFL players are elite Americans thanks to their talents and hard work. They didn't inherit fortunes from their daddies. Through their hard work and talent, they made their own fortune.

      Hannah BreAnne how do you suppose we fix this issue? How, to the best of your knowledge, do we fix the “culture”? How do we fix the fatherless homes, etc? We first need to fully accept that there is an issue and get on the SAME page. Not everyone believes that the issues start at the heart. Not everyone believes there is a deeper issue that needs to be fixed, just a problem with no solution. Those are the people we need to change. Their hearts are in the wrong place if they think the bigger issue is purely a player kneeling during the anthem. And instead accepting that by kneeling at a football game, players are addressing that exact issue, because now people are talking about it. People are reading about it, they’re doing their research. They’re looking at candidates and politicians that are high up enough to actually DO something about these issues. We vote. We elect. We make the change. For the NFL players that knelt during the anthem, they used their public platform to bring attention to something wrong in our country. Our country that was built on the blood shed by all races. Literally. America is a melting pot of culture and races that all contributed to making America what it is today. We can’t sit on our butts behind locked doors anymore. We can’t stand with our hands over our hearts and sing without really caring about the persecution that so many are facing in their own country. We need to kneel. We need to do something radical to start the change, to make a difference. We need to be bold and shout. We can’t simply pray it away. Do something.

    • @ashleys6942
      @ashleys6942 6 лет назад +2

      Hannah BreAnne ok... So how are you going to change their minds for the better? How do you start that process of change? How do we get this to happen?

    • @ironflyellis3817
      @ironflyellis3817 6 лет назад +3

      @Hannah BreAnne I'm sorry but you seem lacking in empathy to your fellow men and women. The way you keep referring to the 'black community' and 'they', as if we have inherent differences. It's an awful way to see the world and to judge others.

    • @STmac74
      @STmac74 6 лет назад +2

      Congratulations on finally understanding the point but not sure why it took so long
      The kneeling is not meant to be a direct fix for all the problems in the black community, if only it were that easy eh! Its to bring attention to unarmed blacks being shot at an alarming rate by cops with no accountability, if you watch and listen to the video this is exactly what he explains. If it saves even one life don’t you think that’s a good place to start?
      You’ve wrote a lot but writing a lot does not make your points any more correct as your talking points have deflected into what you really wanted to say about blacks, however I did go over the issues you mentioned, and they seem very ignorant. Regarding your statement about blacks filling up the prison system I would highly recommend you watching a documentary called 13th which may enlighten you also look at the cases of Kalief Browder and Brock Turner.
      The biggest rising drug issue hitting America now is the Opioids epidemic and this is primarily a white problem but luckily the government are not criminalizing it like they did the crack epidemic back in the 80’s which was a black problem and an excellent way to fill up the prison systems. Do some research on what Redlining was and Jim Crow which although they have been erased still have lasting effects in terms of Social attitudes and Economic structures. Look at the issues with school funding and how certain demographics DELIBERATELY benefit a lot more than others. It’s easy and lazy to blame a certain cultures problem on just the culture. What are the excuses for all these school mass shootings, would it be fair for me to say it’s just white culture?
      As you may have guessed, i'm black but guess what, i work hard, run my own business, am pretty well off but certainly not ignorant to how corrupt and racist this country is
      PS You sound like Jesse Lee Peterson

    • @lightsabriel
      @lightsabriel 6 лет назад +2

      Hannah BreAnne Are you really going to ignore Stewart’s suggestion that you go and educate yourself on the historical context of all these issues you say the black community “caused?” Its funny how people like you have all the answers about what black people need to be doing and yet excuse themselves of any accountability all to serve the mindset that racism is over. When exactly did it end sweetie? I knew the moment you regurgitated those black incarceration statistics that you were yet another prejudiced white woman pretending to know things she actually has no clue about. When you were looking up those statistics on whatever white supremacist forum you subscribe to, did it happen to mention that black men are more likely to be incarcerated and given longer sentences than their white counterparts for the exact same crime? They obviously don’t teach the same things in every school because you have missed some very valuable history lessons. I get it. It’s hard to bear the weight and knowledge that your ancestors and institutions have worked for hundreds of years to convince black people we are worthless. You have torn our families apart, funneled drugs into our communities, and denied us access to equal education, housing, jobs, etc. and yet when we go and create our own things that uplift us, white people try to get rid of them or like you, act like they don’t exist altogether (and by the way black people all over this nation are putting in work to heal and help their communities but of course you wouldn’t know anything about that because it doesn’t serve your narrative). White woman, I suggest you take every seat that is handed to you because your ignorance is toxic. If anyone needs to drum up a desire to educate themselves, it is you.

Joe Kennedy III said he & Beto were professional friends in Congress & he said Beto was a great guy & a great Congressman for Texas. Kennedy encouraged Texas voters on national television to VOTE FOR Beto as Democratic Senator for Texas. So, in my mind & heart, the Kennedy's have given their support to Beto. @@JudoLover71 Oh gosh, I didn't think of that. I guess if you can afford $1000 for a football ticket I can see how you wouldn't be too worried about being shot by police. But to have to endure the protest! What agony that must be for you!

    • @JudoLover71
      @JudoLover71 6 лет назад

      That just goes to show how in touch you are with society. Most people who are season ticket holders can't even really afford them! They're working class people who save up most of their money to attend games! Also, about two years ago I took a look at police brutality in Chicago. Do you know how many times a white officer was killed by a black person? At least 50% of the time. Do you know how many times a black police office was killed by a white person? ZERO!!!! Maybe you should become a little more street wise instead of just driving from your home to work everyday.

    Wow. An American politician was asked about the NFL protests and he actually addressed what the protests were for... That shouldn't be all that impressive, but considering how the conversation was hijacked that deserves a round of applause.

He understands that getting the job done is more important than politics or personal opinions. We need more of this from our politicians.

    The national anthem is not the time to protest. It's simply the time to honor and thank those who served and currently serve. Give them back the few minutes dedicated to them please. Wouldn't be here without them.

    • @beleaf2596
      @beleaf2596 6 лет назад +1

      @beleaf2596 6 лет назад +1

      mike carson I understand there is racism in the country, I understand this country is not equal in many ways, but I'm going to stand for OUR national anthem to show my support for OUR armed forces.

    • @beleaf2596
      @beleaf2596 6 лет назад

      mike carson Who said the NFL players were protesting the military? Doctors dont risk their lifes, and come home to their family everynight. What I'm saying is why cant they protest in a non disrespectful way? You're really saying kneeling during OUR national anthem isnt a little disrespectful? What if I kneeled during church while everyone stands? Or stand up during an injury on the field? Would be nice if they would show just a little respect.

    • @beleaf2596
      @beleaf2596 6 лет назад

      mike carson All I'm saying the way they are protesting is causeing more negative feedback and throwing shade on the real reason they are kneeling in the first place. I'm all for the reason they are kneeling and hope they continue to bring attention to racism though I believe it's not the right way to do so.

      Yeah sure u can say it’s not disrespectful to YOU but it may be for others, let’s say someone and singing rap and eating loudly in the middle of the national anthem because it isn’t disrespectful to them? Huh? It may not be for u but for others it may and ur opinion really doesn’t matter if u don’t want to respect ur own country! I mean the cop parts about killing innocent black people serously? Yeah let’s talk about how cops are bad but literally they help people everyday and 90% more then they injure, you wanna know why people think cops are bad? Because when a cop makes a dumb decision it gets put on headlines everywhere when cops everyday are helping our country saving people and they don’t even get put on a newspaper because it’s not a big deal, everyone loves to talk about how cops are bad but never talk about what they do. People cry and have walk outs for school shooting’s but guess what buddy who do u thing stops the shooter from killing more innocent children? Cops! Without cops the world would be in a horrible place right now, yu people talk bout how cops kill innocent people and do things because they are above everyone yet most people go based off of the news and don’t realize cops are saving millions everyday but when one dude makes a bad decision ITS a huge deal. I respect ur service but it doesn’t matter who or how old u are, I highly disagree with u
