Today I am giving a tutorial for this hobo bag inspired by the brand - Khaite called the Olivia Bag. I really struggled figuring out how to to best install the zipper and then actually install it so I really hope this resource helps getting through those two steps! I loved making this bag and I hope you do too. I'm based in Australia and I purchased my deadstock leather from 'The Fabric Store' which have locations in both Australia and New Zealand/Aotearoa. The blue bag is made from Cow Hide which is a larger bit of fabric so they let me cut that down to what I need and cost me about $50AUD so it's definitely worth bringing the sewing pattern into store with you. Love the video!!! Is there a possibility for you to make a tutorial how we can add a liner? Or maybe write it out, I’ve been trying but can’t find a good method that looks good as well
Not completely sure on this, but I was thinking of making the lining the shape of the main body of the bag (so without handles), sewing on the lining to the inside of the zipper similarly to how she did in the video, THEN sewing the main fabric to zipper, so when you’re top stitching you’re sewing through both shell and lining fabric, and then just sewing how you would normally do a lined bag:)
Hi! do you have any thoughts on how I could add a lining? Would it work to cut 2 extra panels (of lighter lining fabric) and following all the steps but with 4 layers at once instead of 2?

I made the 150% scale one and it's perfect. The only adjustment I had to make to the pattern was tapering out the handle at the top so it wouldn't be so wide, otherwise it's great!

Thank you for making this tutorial, its a bag I have been wanting to make for a long while. You mention that you use an industrial sewing machine for the cow leather, is that the singer heavy duty or another one?

It depend how thick your fabric is and if you’re machine can go through enough layers of fabric to achieve seamless. The brown leather bag was finished seamless (I think I show this at the end of the video) the blue fabric was way too thick though and I did the other finish! Hope that helps xx

Yes I think so! It would look great too if you double lined it/took a seamless approach and then used a magnetic clasp! Super nice

i don't understand the triangle part for the zipper, can you explain it ?
Have you ever sewn welt pockets before? It's a very similar concept but hard to explain. I'd recommend looking at tutorials for welt pockets as the process is very similar and may visually explain better x
