  • This is a 4K video showing the complete changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington Cemetery. I shot this on August 24, 2016, using three Panasonic 4K video cameras: LX100, GX8 and ZS100.
The only thing I left out of this video was the full inspection of the replacement sentinel by the Sergeant of the Guard. That inspection is extensive, but I shortened it for this video. All the other steps are shown.
If you look carefully, you can see my wife and I shooting this video, which we did with the cooperation of the Media Relations department at Arlington Cemetery.

How ANYONE can watch this time-honored tradition and not be humbled, respectful and grateful, is beyond me. Yet, many videos show that many attend and see it differently. They talk, laugh, cross barriers and generally feel the rules don't apply to "them". That's a real problem with today's society, the teaching and practicing of "respect" is being lost. But, so are values, traditions, honor and patriotism. Great video, thank you for sharing this. 🇺🇸

Australians and Americans have fought, died and lived as brothers and sisters through far too many wars. Let's hope in the future we will stand together only in peace.

I believe it was exactly 21 seconds walking across the mat, and exactly 21 seconds at each end turning, switching shoulders on the rifle, and preparing to walk. Not to mention each step being precise and every stop and heel click too.
And as such, when the changing of the guard comes on, it also comes on exactly synchronized with the previous post's motion. Seamless. So much respect for these guys.

This show of ceremony, and respect is one of the highest in military service. To be part of the honor guard is one thing, to be this is one of the highest of honors. The display, shows our values to our service members. It is unparalleled. It's all day and every day without room, for less than a perfect standard. it's a remembrance, honor, and gratitude for all those who have served, serve now, and will serve. This is sacred ritual. Thank you for all who serve now and before. For making my life and so many others possible. Without our military family America wouldn't exist, thank you all for you service, big or small, long or short. @@BobKovacs Honestly, I hope your buddy has access to, and uses CBD oil, or some similar preparation. There's a reason that PhRMA doesn't want you to know the TRUTH about CBD oil, and it's greed, and money.... Don't let the media hype fool you. Cannabis was in the "U.S. Pharmacopeia"{ until the early 1940's.
And no, I'm not talking about "smoke pot", or "smoke weed", or "smoke marijuana".
CBD, or "cannabidiol", and related alkaloids, are VERY helpful. The human body even has a Natural cannabidinoid system.
Like Genesis Chap. 1, Verse 29 says, ALL the plants were given to Man for food and medicine BY GOD.
When used correctly and carefully, CBD, and cannabis, can do wonders. But PhRMA doesn't want you to know the TRUTH...
ALS is one diagnosis that has shown a great response to CBD.... BEST WISHES!

But on holidays, few people are in the cemetery to visit the Unknown Soldiers, said Pierce. ''It's different - you don't see as many people here. But being there on days like that rekindles your dedication to see that the Soldiers who sacrificed their identity are never forgotten, never dishonored. It's a privilege and an honor to be the one who gets to watch over them."
Although his Family in Tri-cities, Wash., will miss him at the holidays, Pierce said they understand his commitment, and are supportive of it. ''They're very, very proud of me," he said. ''The reason I volunteered to be assigned to the Tomb is because my dad told me about it. He told me how special the Tomb was. And he was right."
