As a son of a ROK veteran of the Korean War, this is a fantastic recognition of such a fine soldier. To be a tomb guard sentinel is a very solemn duty and privilege that only a few can achieve. If I recall the tomb guards are drawn from the 3rd Infantry Regiment, "Washington's Own". If I am incorrect please let me know and I will correct this post. Thank you Specialist Kwiatowski

Tomb guards are on duty 24/7/365, regrdless of the weather. For a soldier, being a tomb guard is as pretigious as an assignment to the Thunderbirds in the Air Force or the Blue Angels in the Navy and Marine Corps.Well done, Specialist! Carry on!

I remember when a female soldier could not even be photographed holding a weapon. Today they perform the most sacred of armed duties. One of a very few essential staff in DC.
During my time in the Army, I only seen one Tomb of the Unknowns badge, and it was a soldier at Fort Drum, NY who earned it. God bless the infantry. 🇺🇸

I grew up in Maryland while my dad was in the Army. He would take me when I was young to the Tomb. I learned early it is one of the most sacred places in the US, and the Guards that walk the 21 steps watch over, and honor the memory of those unknown warriors. Later in life when I was a Marine at Quantico, I would visit again. A special with special people that serve there. Semper Fi.

I had the privilege of knowing a guard who served his Country and President Roosevelt. They are a rare person and I was honored to assist with his funeral when it was his time to be honored.
I’m old too and this young woman has fulfilled an honorable role and achieved a significant honor. By appearances, she may be the over achiever in the family. It doesn’t mean her family love or honor her any less, but they lack an understanding of the importance of her accomplishments. This young soldier has learned much about fidelity, responsibility, tradition and discipline that will be passed on to her future generations. Congratulations to her and the other military members in her unit. I’m always proud to see our young Americans.

My Grandad was a Sergeant in the Royal Army Medical Corps (British Army) during WW1. He was in The Battle Of The Somme, Ypres, Vimy Ridge and Passchendaele. He was awarded The M.M. + 2 bars and the Belgian Croix de Guerre. He would be amazed to see this and, I'm sure, moved to tears. God bless you, Jessica.
