    Stellar job, as always. Also, congrats on getting a spike in subs again! Thought the Verge thing happened a while back, weird it's resurfaced, but hey, as long as the channel's growing, it's great. As always, I got a couple cool ideas to further "prettify" this build, just a few suggestions.
    That piece of the side panel you cut out? Try bending it and making a PSU shroud. If you want to keep the up facing PSU fan, just cut that side panel and bend it so it only covers the "rat's nest", or just drill holes over the fan, might look cooler if you're up for it.
    Needless to say, if you went RGB and wanna go all out, there are some cool 80mm and 90mm RGB fans I found on AliExpress, I can link em if you're interested. Also on there is a good and cheap braided extension cable set for like $12, I used it in my project and it's awesome.
    Speaking of my project, it's almost complete, got a few small things to add, but I'll share some of the pics here. To remind you, this is all 2013/2014 components from my old rig, pimped for today's standards with mostly bought cheap RGB and other guff from AliExpress, also a modded GPU AIO cooler and a very shitty and restrictive gaming case. Proved to be quite a challenge... Anyway, here are the pics imgur.com/a/ULHAaj5
    Wanted to log the whole build and AIO modding process, but it was so damn hot and I usually work without a shirt, so that would've been awkward, lol. Anyway, hope you like it.

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  4 года назад +1

      Thanks man! That Verge video is the gift that keeps on giving!
      I pondered over the idea of doing a PSU cover/shroud. Not sure if it would affect the airflow in the case or not. Might be worth testing the thermals with one in it vs not having it. I'll look into maybe 3D printing one out of plastic. Having more metal near components may not be a good thing lol.
      I did look into getting some RGB fans for the build on Aliexpress. However, it would've taken 2-3 weeks to get to me. I wanted to film the video as soon as possible and couldn't wait that long. Even if they didn't have sleeved or braided cables, I would just sleeve the cables myself. I did that for the this Optiplex build for the CoolerMaster fan, the SATA power extension cable for the SSD and the 8-pin to 24-pin motherboard cable.
      Dude! You're build is looking pretty good! Definitely dig the look of the PC. Crazy to see what kind of parts you can find on Aliexpress sometimes! Keep me posted with more images of your progress on your build!

    • @DarKNesS7026
      @DarKNesS7026 4 года назад

      @@WiltshireTutorials Glad you liked the build! Yeah, just need it to run properly and do benchmarks, other than that, it's almost complete. I'll post some benchmarks once it's fully up and running.
      I understand not wanting to wait long for stuff from Ali, it literally took me 2 months just because I was waiting for all the parts, still waiting for that 780 replacement...
      Also, braiding cables yourself is admirable, I tried and it's tedious as heck, especially if it's PSU extension ones. Though AIO cooler modding wasn't easy either, but pretty fun. That's why I like watching your vids, really cool and challenging stuff you're doing. Been subbed for a year now, here's to many more :)

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  4 года назад +1

The only thing I would do different is opening up the back where the PSU is a bit more. Could have some overheat issues if it can’t push the hot air out. Maybe just a few drilled holes. Very cool mod project! Such an improvement to the look of the ugly stock case. I've got an Optiplex 9020 on the way, which I had been planning on swapping into a better looking case. A friend told me however, that there's all sorts of proprietary Dell stuff that doesn't really allow case swapping, so that kind of put the brakes on that idea. But luckily, I've got a bunch of Lexan lying around my garage, all the tools in the world, and a steady hand, lol! Thanks for sharing this video dude!

    rubber edge trims would be absolutely great on those cuts and car window film tint for the acrylic for the scratches to be gone forever... along with turning the top as a fine mesh hole for better airflow! man I love case modding

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  4 года назад

      Good suggestions! I was given the suggestion of edge moulding/trim earlier and I'm currently looking into it. I also had debated over tinting the acrylic. I'm still undecided on that. Lastly, I did think of ventilating the top of the case and putting exhaust/intake fans on the top. Unfortunately, there isn't enough clearance for fans at the top. Maybe with slim fans I could get away with it. I'll have to order one in and measure things to find out.

    This is great. I did something similar to my dell optiplex 7010. Which I would of highly recommended over this pc because the 7010 Mini Tower has a bigger chassis which is much better for cable management and for airflow mods. The only downside is the age of the processors which is sandybridge and ivybridge. Some newer models use Haswell tho. I threw an R9 Nano in mine. Works great.

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  4 года назад

      The 3040 tower is extremely cramped. Definitely agree with going with the 7010 case or an OptiPlex 9020-T instead! An R9 Nano is a good choice for some 1080P gaming! Would love to see some photos of your build!

    The computer looks great, and its clear that you have a lot of work into it. My only recommendation would be to go ahead and make yourself some custom length (and possibly sleeved) cables for the interior to clean up the "rats nest" that you mentioned in the video at the bottom of the case. They aren't hard to make at all, and will GREATLY improve the aesthetic of the PC now that you've got that big beautiful window.

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  4 года назад

      Glad you like the look of the build! I have sleeved some cables before. I'm currently looking into it. As you said, it will definitely make things easier to cable manage. I may add a PSU shroud as well. Depending on what the thermals looks like when adding it.

    It's refreshing to see someone doing actual case modding in this day and age. If I could make a suggestion, radius your corners with a 1" radius and use rubber door edge molding on the cut edge to give the window opening a nice finished appearance. The narrower the molding the tighter of a radius it will make. Anyway, keep up the good work and I hope you go far.

    Great video... I buy an off lease office pc every time I see one for a dirt cheap price locally. I dont cut in any windows because the stock motherboard and cooler are just ugly. However, there is some rubber trim you can get on Amazon that sticks right next to the rough edges and makes the cut out look more finished. Also adding 4 feet to the bottom will let you have a bottom mounted intake fan pulling in cool air. Hot air rises and that is why a second fan on the top of the case is perfect, plus they make all sorts of fan grill covers to camouflage rough dremel cuts. An i7 with 16gb of ram a 120gb ssd and a 1tb mechanical drive paired with a gtx 1650 oc ddr6 model makes an awesome cheap gaming pc. I do not upgrade the power supplies to add better graphics cards however. If I'm going to buy a new psu and adapters I feel like I might as well build from scratch.
