Plenty of people were left standing, and what they have in common is that they are allies to vegapunk/giant robot/joyboy/Luffy (not sure which is more important here, they all kind of overlap). So what does that imply about Borsalino? Either he was so strong that the Haki didn't affect him, but that is unlikely given that even the 5 elders were severely affected, or he is secretly an ally (as has been speculated all along with the food mysteriously landing in Luffy's hands when he needed it). How much of an ally seems to be unclear, because he was definitely also an enemy, albeit a very reluctant one. Perhaps killing his best friend will be the pivotal moment that sets in motion events that will lead to open rebellion against the marines, in which case we will probably see some emotional confrontations between Borsalino and his brother.

Akainu has a lot of respect for Borsalino and Kuzan. Even tho he's now fleet admiral, he probably raised the ranks alongside them, as different as their views are. He let Kuzan go after their duel and defended him when the gorosei were badmouthing him, and now with Borsalino he's clearly showing that he cares for him more than as a boss does about a coworker/underling

I interpreted that the reason sakasuki backed off and apologised to borsalino was because the admirals are not in a position to lose another admiral with them losing Aokoji, and potentially Garp.
And Greenbull being a letdown attacking Wano, Fuji having a strong sense of justice - he must miss Kuzan/Dragon and perhaps even Sengoku as FA where he at least got to kill pirates pre-time skip

I really liked how Vivi called Morgans a liar. Man on the internet, have you heard the theory that the man Crocus is talking to is Golden Lion Shiki. It's been confirmed that he exists or did exist in cannon One Piece, not just in the movie Strong World. The hair length, color, and clothing are very similar to what Shiki wears in the movie.

I've said this before but it bears repeating. I love your chapter breakdowns. I read the chapters as they are published but hearing you do your expositions really helps to digest the information. Oda typically does reveals, info drops, lore drops, character development, power scaling, and all the other things that are necessary for a great story and it's easy to miss some of those details, minimize, or trivialize them and your video's help alot with understanding what Oda's trying to say. I know rocks is painted as a villain, but the more we learn, the more it seems it could have been a concerted effort by Big News Morgan and the World Gov to paint him as evil. We paint him as evil because of how his crew tended to turn out, but imagine how the straw hats would turn out without Luffy. Nami - kleptomaniac, Zoro - mass muderer Ussop - liar. Those three alone could make Luffy seem evil
But the World Government doesn't use propaganda to paint Rocks as a villain. They do that with Roger. They cover up any evidence that Rocks existed in the first place.

I really love how far Robin has come in terms of her relationship with the crew as well as herself. I am currently rewatching OP with my gf who hasn't seen it before, and having just finished Enies Lobby, it is such a trip to see her express her feelings and physical affection so prominently.
I really hope that one day Sakazuki will call Fujitora his "brother" as well. Seeing him be so understanding with Kizaru makes me think theres something soft underneath all of the magma.

You need to take into account that the three original admirals knew eachother since Ohara or even sooner. They raised the ranks together. Fujitora has been on the marines for less than 2 years and became an admiral instantly, so there's way less time to bond and also now that Akainu is just behind his desk all the time it's not like he can go out that often.

I really do think Oda reads A LOT online: just this general idea that birds were what became of the angels that didn't take sides in war between God and Satan seems to play so nicely into this idea that Morgan is more about developing his own plot while he floats above the rest of the world while still involved with it but not to the level of Skypeia where the gods are while treating yourself as one is such an interesting take on media entities in general

I think Vivi´s Role on Morgans Airship warrents its own discussion. Will Vivi use the chance to alter Morgans stories? Will Vivi expose the existance of Imu to the whole world? There is a reason why Oda dedicated so much time and effort to bring Vivi there.
I must mention Robin in the partial double spread where everyone is giving a toast. I don't think I've ever seen Oda draw Robin like that. She seems so happy and on the verge of crying from joy. 😊
I would also suggest looking at Sakazuki's and Borsalino's exchange as an exchange through military men. He sees him as a brother in arms and the apology was because Akainu implied that Kizaru betrayed the oath they both have taken as Marines. That break of character is so friggin powerful.
Kizaru showing more of that inner struggle and raw emotion was great and stood on business with that boy Akainu. Also, Vivi stood on business towards Big News, which was cool, plus seeing the crew so small was hilarious on the ship, not to mention Lilith. Actually, we're all alive, no worries 😅 punk records, baby and that silhouette reminded me of Scopper Gaban too 🤣

Since Vivi and Wapol are with big news morgans and Wapol saw Imu, there is a potential that Big news knows about Imu's existence and could leak the news to the world at a moments notice.
I really liked how Vivi called Morgans a liar. Even though she didnt met Luffy since years, she still defends him without hesitation, even after she heard him tell to the world that he taken VegaPunk hostage. Also, she was her usual self too, dont giving a f*** about her personal safety to defend her friend. Telling Morgans she would never bow to him even if it means exposure, thats showing how strong character she is, regardless of physical strenght.
I hope the announced live action actress can play her well.

LOL, even within the narrative, average people find the idea of a pirate finding the One Piece terrifying already. But his not caring about the world flooding is just a personal thing since he can FLY.
A part of me is still holding out hope Edison wasn’t off screened and is actually hiding in Sentamaru’s barrel (like someone’s definitely in there right!). I love the idea of Sentamaru and a Vegapunk ending up on Wano and running into Yamato. How fun that’d be.

Man on the internet, have you heard the theory that the man Crocus is talking to is Golden Lion Shiki. It's been confirmed that he exists or did exist in cannon One Piece, not just in the movie Strong World. The hair length, color, and clothing are very similar to what Shiki wears in the movie.

Cuz' Oda doesn't feel like he could introduce Shiki in the main series now *without* his fruit.

I've said this before but it bears repeating. I love your chapter breakdowns. I read the chapters as they are published but hearing you do your expositions really helps to digest the information. Oda typically does reveals, info drops, lore drops, character development, power scaling, and all the other things that are necessary for a great story and it's easy to miss some of those details, minimize, or trivialize them and your video's help alot with understanding what Oda's trying to say. So good job! Keep it up!

Kizaru's crying reminds me of Luffy crying both after his defeat at Sabody, and when he had to come to terms with Ace's death Post-Marineford.
The parallels and contrasts between Luffy having lost his loved ones in part due to Kizaru actively working to destroy them, VS Kizaru having lost his loved ones after actively working to destroy them (whilst Luffy tried to save them) are quite profound to me.
Sakazuki showing regret for overstepping and hurting borsalinos feeling shows a bit of his softer side, but screw him for not thinking about kizaru's feelings

I know rocks is painted as a villain, but the more we learn, the more it seems it could have been a concerted effort by Big News Morgan and the World Gov to paint him as evil. We paint him as evil because of how his crew tended to turn out, but imagine how the straw hats would turn out without Luffy. Nami - kleptomaniac, Zoro - mass muderer Ussop - liar. Those three alone could make Luffy seem evil

But the World Government doesn't use propaganda to paint Rocks as a villain. They do that with Roger. They cover up any evidence that Rocks existed in the first place.

I really love how far Robin has come in terms of her relationship with the crew as well as herself. I am currently rewatching OP with my gf who hasn't seen it before, and having just finished Enies Lobby, it is such a trip to see her express her feelings and physical affection so prominently.
I really hope that one day Sakazuki will call Fujitora his "brother" as well. Seeing him be so understanding with Kizaru makes me think theres something soft underneath all of the magma.

You need to take into account that the three original admirals knew eachother since Ohara or even sooner. They raised the ranks together. Fujitora has been on the marines for less than 2 years and became an admiral instantly, so there's way less time to bond and also now that Akainu is just behind his desk all the time it's not like he can go out that often.

I really do think Oda reads A LOT online: just this general idea that birds were what became of the angels that didn't take sides in war between God and Satan seems to play so nicely into this idea that Morgan is more about developing his own plot while he floats above the rest of the world while still involved with it but not to the level of Skypeia where the gods are while treating yourself as one is such an interesting take on media entities in general
If you ask me, Crocus was sharing a drink with Shiki the Golden Lion, talking about the old days.
That one panel of Kizaru instantly made him my favorite admiral and recontextualizes so many things about him and the story overall. All in one picture.

I would also suggest looking at Sakazuki's and Borsalino's exchange as an exchange through military men. He sees him as a brother in arms and the apology was because Akainu implied that Kizaru betrayed the oath they both have taken as Marines. That break of character is so friggin powerful.
Kizaru showing more of that inner struggle and raw emotion was great and stood on business with that boy Akainu. Also, Vivi stood on business towards Big News, which was cool, plus seeing the crew so small was hilarious on the ship, not to mention Lilith. Actually, we're all alive, no worries 😅 punk records, baby and that silhouette reminded me of Scopper Gaban too 🤣
