Nah...that wasn't a spoiler. It was just in reference to how Cersei was willing to poison Tommen or Joffrey during the battle of the blackwater to make sure they weren't captured. The worst ones always survive...
I was also so upset about Ros, particularly thinking about the fear she must have felt before she died just being back in that room with Joffrey AGAIN.

I did the question mark to imply tone. As in, I agree, right? How messed up must it have been for Roz walking back into that room with Joffrey knowing that Baelish only sees here as Varys said"a profitable set of holes", that he'd already told her what happens to girls who don't please him.
I think this is one of those episodes where you can really see whos truly paying attention.

Completely agree. I have really loved his reactions to the female characters - even Cersei. No name calling or non-character based critiques, just very astute call outs that are backed up by him paying attention to the story. I’ve noticed a trend of male reactors gassing up female characters when they are dominant/showing stereotypically masculine traits but then breaking into sudden and intense misogyny when they come across female characters they see as weak or “bi--y” - like it’s ‘okay’ to really aggressively name call if the female character is someone they don’t like. It’s super disappointing when it’s a reactor I otherwise like and is often the first reason I stop watching reactions like this, so this reaction series has been super refreshing and affirming to watch.
You are one of the rare reactors that had the same visceral reaction to Roz’s murder as I did when I first watched this episode. I loved Roz; she’s from The North, she’s loyal, funny, smart, and gorgeous. She wasn’t a main character but certainly an original, day one character. I hated Joffrey before, but that brutal murder of Roz made me want to see him killed immediately.

This episode is one of the best. The Wall. The Evil Hobbit. Olenna and Tywin being amazing together (they should have been the ones to marry). Littlefinger's speech.

Joffrey's definitely a sadist but I think he was the best dressed male in the whole series. Whoever did his costuming should've won an Emmy.

Sansa was crying because she refused to escape with Baelish, since she thought she was marrying Loras and going to beautiful Highgarden. Now Baelish's ship is sailing away, and she is stuck in King's Landing being married to a Lannister - and forced to be near Joffrey. That's terrifying.
And the funny thing is Ros is a show-original character, she's not from the books. ^^

In the books Ramsey was indeed the trumpeter that Theon was pissed at.
I think its implied he was in the show too, since he's finished season 3 he knows its Ramsay now- who is in fact a northman (Since he thought it wasn't Ramsay but rather a northman instead). Ramsay and his army were outside the walls surrounding Winterfell blowing the horn and captured Theon - Ramsay just poses as a servant/kills his own men to mind fuck Theon after this, but its the same horn and everything
That Joffrey thing is a nothingburger season 2 thing, as other people have pointed out. I damn near lost my mind when you started talking about getting spoiled, because I thought you had something MAJOR spoiled. Holy god, stay off twitter for a little bit. You could legit have some of the best moments in the show ruined for you by total accident.

I've always felt the same way about Roz's outro, this whole scene is still the most disturbing to me of the series.
She may not be like that in the books, but GRRM wants people to understand the real world. Come plight or death, everyone is up for grabs, and especially lower class workers.
Ros' character was a show original.
Thoros is thought of a drunken loser among the Lord of Light’s clergy. They sent him to Westeros pretty much just to get rid of him. Even he admits he lost faith in his god. That’s why the Red Woman is amazed that a drunken fool like Thoros could have brought someone back from the dead (6 times !)
I never understood how Theon didn't know who the guy was or at least which house he was from after he started flaying him.
Maybe because he wasn't a very good student (think of Bran having to learn all the houses, banners and lore in season 1) nor very smart.
He is entitled hubris. And torture doesn't exactly aid clear thinking.

I don't like the way they treated Edmure. Acting like the Stone Mill or Robb not holding to his oath to marry a Frey girl is his fault and he has to make up for it. It's BS. Robb is the one who deserved to suffer, because he is the one that betrayed the Freys, not Edmure. Robb not sharing his plan for Tywin with Edmure is the reason his plan didn't work, not Edmure showing deserved lordly autonomy and running pillaging Westermen from his lands.

I think the show put the scene on top of the wall right after Roz’s death to contrast it with Littlefinger’s words claiming love is an illusion, the climb to power is all there is. Jon and Ygritte have climbed to a higher state. It wasn’t meant to diminish the impact of Roz’s suffering but to show that Littlefinger is wrong.

Wait a minute. Joffrey gets poisoned? You still think Joffrey is the worst? Uhm, they actually already told you who the guy torturing Theon is. Think back to when Rob was told Theon took Winterfell and he wanted to take his entire army to take it back. Didn't someone suggest to him an alternate plan?
This is just my opinion, and I'd love to be clear up front before I explain it later that it's NO kind of defense of Joffrey it's just a different kind of accusation, but to my eyes that scene doesn't read as "ooh he just viscerally enjoys this"; in the last scene with the two girls he appears to be doing it to effectively backhand Tyrion for trying to placate him [etc] and in this scene there's no direct obvious "here's the causality", but I think what's happening here is less "he set out to do a thing 'cuz he thought he would enjoy it and he did the thing and he purely enjoyed it for it's own sake", I do still think there's context. He was a little younger then but we've seen that when push comes to shove he's basically a coward, he likes to lord over people but he doesn't wake up and spend every moment causing physical and psychological pain. He's had tongues ripped out, he's ordered numerous d3aths, and he _claimed_ to be ready to fight at Blackwater; but we've never seen HIM do anything except wildly swing a sword at a child. Cutting to the chase I think he just wanted to finally get a k!ll in, for reasons along the lines of to test/prove himself to himself; he just recently had that scene with Margaery talking abut "do you think you could k!ll someone..?" and so I think this comes at a time where he's trying to like prove himself, again mostly to himself. It's like claiming to be a cool kid in an environment where "cool kids smoke" but you don't smoke, so you don't go out with the crew hot boxing a cab with cig smoke, but one night you light one up when you're alone. Whether to make sure it's less shocking to your system the first time you do it in front of others, or to quell your own insecurity that you're who you're trying to be, etc etc etc. Which to return to the "this is not a defense of Joffrey" is to say that I don't think he's made a decision that he wants to spend his time personally and actively doing horrific acts of violence, but rather that he wasted a precious life all because "he wanted to try something". It's certainly no defense of him. It's just a different accusation. To put it simply [though still to narrativize], I think this part comes at a specific point in the show in an elucidating way, ie we see Joffrey contrasted with the man torturing Theon (I know you're done with s3 so you know his name, but, whatever xp). He explicitly says "this is happening to you for one reason - I like it" - he's a proper sadist who properly wants to cause pain; Joffrey on the other hand just uses pain and d3ath as a means to the end of his power trip. Joffrey isn't a "real sadist". He's a little baby man who grips power tightly. Not to mention other little bits of context like I assume he prolly also held a bit of shame around Ros so he prolly wanted "his shame" [living on through her experience of it] squashed out. While there isn't a direct linear "here's why" like last time, I do think this scene still has more context than "ooh he's just a sadist and that's that". Not to sound like one of those annoying guys, but I think Joffrey is too much of a coward to be a real proper sadist. He does sadistic things don't get me wrong. But I don't think that's the true heart of the issue, pure enjoyment at pain. His enjoyment is clearly lording over everyone. Ros must likely then be some indirect expression of that. He's "practicing". He wants to make sure he can be a "k!ller" [in his mind]. He's trying to solidify himself as the man he's trying to paint himself as, a scary man who means what he says and you best listen or else. This is him trying to make himself into something. Testing himself. Pushing himself. It's not pure sadism. He did it alone. He did it with a crossbow. He smiled after. He wasn't happy _at her pain_ [mostly], he was [mostly] *happy with himself*, he's too self-centered to be joyous at the feelings of another even if the feeling is pain. He was happy for himself. That he could do it

But if we're diagnosing him, he doesn't just have a broken brain that feels endorphins for seeing pain; he's on a power trip. HE is who he cares about. He's doing this for himself, not "for" [ie to hurt] Ros. This is something he wanted to see himself do, to know he could, to cross a line, to feel the power of putting his foot down. He's a heccing baby man. It's almost even more frustrating than if he was "just a sadist". But those are hard value judgements to make I say call it a wash and throw them both in a box xp no but point is, he's just a little child expressing fear [etc] through power. It's power trip 101. Fundamentally what he wants is not "to hurt" that's just a tool to get what he actually wants. You beneath his foot. His enjoyment "at pain" is his enjoyment of the expression of his will. He wants his way. Pain is a thing that makes other people give him his way

The death of Ros does indeed show you that Joffrey is a sadist, but it also demonstrates something about Baelish and his repeated one-upmanship of Varys. Quite aside from being a visual reflection of his statement that "many who attempt to climb [the ladder] fail, never get to try again: the fall breaks them" she is also the "bad investment" he referenced. Remember, Varys brought her into his employ as a spy and confidant. Baelish evidently found out about this and would already know what Joffrey had done previously to both Ros and the other prostitute, Daisy, so he just sent her back again, because, as he also stated, "he has a friend who wants to try something new, something daring" (Joffrey shooting with a crossbow).

Poor Roz 😭 No one should experience what Joffrey put her through, but it's even more painful to see when it's Roz. She was such a compassionate, spirited, intelligent and charming person, who deserved so much better in life, and a character I wished to see so much more from. I'm so glad you felt connected to her as well, too many people overlook her!

Neat little Lore fact that you might not be aware of: Jamie was named to the Kingsguard at a young (16?) age... Against Tywin's wishes, and functionally making Tyrion the prime Lannister Heir. This made Tywin very angry and caused him to leave Kings Landing out of spite for the Mad King, until they day the Jamie killed the King (as Jamie told us in the Bathtub)
So when Tywin threatens to promote Loras, it comes with a certain emotional weight from the insult he once suffered, beyond the significant results of not being able to marry while you are in the kingsguard
