Allan Atkins, founding member - original lead singer of Judas Priest (1969-1973) is from and lives in West Bromwich... he wrote/co-wrote such JP classics as "Victim of Changes", "Never Satisfied", "Winter", "Caviar & Meths", etc... his songs appear on the first two JP albums... he has had a long solo & band career, with "Holy Rage" and "AMP" (Atkins May Project)... his autobiography, "Dawn of the Metal Gods", details his upbringing in West Bromwich... he is very devoted to his city. Check out his music...

Me remembers west brom when it was west brom esp town centre was thriving shop wise esp main drag. 👍 In 70,s and 80,s gone down the dip since then esp where main shops used to be. Slowly declined like many towns in the Midlands.

The once proud Black Country town of West Bromwich…..
It had a High Street that stretched over a mile… full of good quality varied stores .. When Marks and Spencer pulled out the town declined Lack of investment from the local MBC who wanted to centralize on Oldbury a few miles down the road. With the rapid decline of its once mighty manufacturing the town is in terminal decline
    It’s sad… and it’s not alone …
