Also - thank you to the following partners for supply killer parts that makes this 3,000 hp goal possible!

It's finally time to get the 55 back out! Last year when we hurt our engine, our spare one was not ready - we were waiting on parts. So we ended up sitting out the second half of the race season. But! Finally all of the pieces have come together and we are putting together my new engine to get ready for Sick Week coming up at the end of January. This is very similar to the engine that was in it before, just a few upgrades. Plus! now we can get the other one repaired and it can go back in dad's Nova finally! Check out all the pieces that make this 3,000 hp target possible, as well as why we choose some of the pieces that we choose to run.

Wow, Alex knows more about her engine than a lot of good mechanics. She's lucky to have a father that brought her up to know everything that is going on with her/his cars. He's lucky to have a daughter so hands on and smart. It's clear she is not a spoiled brat and appreciates and works hard for what she has.

To check the bore size on the big end and small end of the rods look into air gauges. They are more precise. The heat in your hand can affect the reading of a snap gauge or a micrometer and calipers. I used them at work for rod bearings beater clearance.

One of the enduring "great things" about motorsport is that there are many good answers- there are also many differing situations. Then it comes down to "it's your motor- it has your parts in it, so it's is all your choice". I've been challenged a few times for my decisions, this leads invariably to "It works for me this year and the last five, and nobody's got time to fix it if it aint broke to begin with!". Once I built a really nice '67 Chevy C 10 and painted it metallic green; for all the guff, I paid for the paint and it got mentioned in Semi Custom in a show I entered. My paint, my car, my way. So, build well, build conservative and enjoy the ride- and put one in Steve's eye again!

Father and Daughter teams are BadAss, to begin with, but Alex you are definitely much more than a driver, Your understanding of the function, design, and application of all the components is phenomenal. Dailey dry sumps with their billet pans have most of the scavenge lines built into the pan. The crank scraper is actually where the oil is scavenged and have screens built in incase debris makes its way into the pan the pump isnt ruined. His pumps are awesome too. The pressure section is a gear pump like the traditional sb/bb pump. The scavenge pumps move a lot of air so he uses mini roots blowers as pumps. The final scavenge stage is a centrifical blower. So the oil is whipped to the outside and the air remains on the inside and one scavenge line returns oil to the tank and the other returns mainly air. You need two return lines to the tank. One supply line to the pressure stage and an output line going through a remote mount filter and then oil cooler if you want then to the oil input on the engine block. Thats it unless you want to add additional scavenge sections for the lifter galley or valve cover or turbo drain lines. Peterson makes a nice remote filter mount that has a small oil pump built into it that you spin with a battery drill to prelube your engine whenever you want. You will retain horsepower your already making that is robbed from you by windage. You can prelube your engine each time you start it. If you run enough scavenge stages to pull 15in of vacuum in your crankcase it will pull the rings to the cylinder walls and they will seal better making more power. Eliminating the windage tray and crank scraper and moving the oil pump outside the engine actually makes a simpler oil system. Everything you invest in can be reused on other engines in the future. Better oil controll more horsepower without running a more radical setup or more boost. The ability to prelube your engine everytime you start it. Your just giving away horsepower and engine life by not having a beautiful billet aluminum Dailey oil pan and pump on your engine lol.

My brother ran an Isky cam in his SBC, back in the 1970’s. (Isky has been around for a bunch of years).

Will be great seeing the flying shoebox hookin and bookin again. Just make sure the flux capacitor is up to snuff😉That was pure video gold when the doors flew off even though it put y'all in a pinch.

Talk to Steve Morris on the bolt torque on the rods. After his rod delete issue he is very versed on rods. Not saying you are not, but sharing knowledge is the beauty of our families.

This is one of the best videos I have ever seen. Completely describes the entire engine, and why certain parts were chosen. Can't wait to see the outcome!

The "oring" is actually a "sealing ring" that's why the gap doesn't matter, the oring is for locking the gasket in place so it doesn't "push out"
