God damn. 10-20 years ago, to get over 1k HP, it required a ton of specialized pistons, cam, blocks, heads and it took a lot of money and a lot of time on and off testing and building to get there. Now you can take a stock engine block, put some bolt ons and a simple tune and poof, you can get 1k... Just absolutely nuts. We really are in the golden year of the ICE where we have achieved so much efficiency and power from every drop of fuel. Advanced tuning really got us there! Where with the stock OBD2 style computers, they were limited on sampling and narrow band 02 and such, but the new computers are highly advanced and for the real play ground, holly designed their efi system that was designed to upgrade your old carb to efi (TBI), but now they added so much more and build such amazing drag and race products!!!
Now u need a junk yard 4.6 a tsp cam and a Chinese toddy twister and u make 1k hp lol the way the world has turned lol could have saved a bunch of money lol

Yes, it can be frustrating. You might laugh, but keeping documentation and photos helped me fix more than a few nightmares that other new car dealer's gave up on. Had they kept records on problematic vehicles, I have no doubt the dealer tech would have diagnosed the problem. These were really talented mechanics. The mechanic became frustrated and decided he would try a work around with jumpers and was inputting the wrong sensor voltage. He knew better but his frustration got the best of him. Document everything.

Steve, you know you can run 93NL, E85, methanol, 100LL, and/or any combination of them together in the mechanical and electronic injectors. I used to run M90 (10% 93L and 90% methanol) in an unqualified "gasohol" class with a Predator carb. You could start it with the key, idle around the pits, and read the plugs. For your boat engine, I would run 1/2 the fuel in the hat and 1/2 in the EFI injectors. Maybe E85 in the hat and 93NL in the EFI.
Do you ger enough air in to your dyno cell, If you check the reflection on the window at 17:00, it's looks like you are creating low pressure in the room:)
I've always thought that a fixed displacement positive displacement engine driven pump wasn't a great idea for fuel delivery... Unless there's a pressure regulator somewhere. A friend of mine has a small block with a setup like I've just mentioned with only a restrictor in the return line.. I'm guessing the pressure at idle is alot higher than pressure at wide open throttle.. but it works
I like the kits. Can't help.but think some all thread rod in different sizes would be very handy addition. Might need less bolts to make space and possibly more washers to complement.

In 73 we built-up a 396 at 600 hp. We were feeling like we had a monster. It took a ton of money to get there. Not you get over 1000hp on a basic build. This is a golden age.
I love custom bolt kits too. I just got a 250pc one from Specbolt for my 2002 Honda CR250. Everything is like OEM grade factory original hard to find nuts, bolts, washers, etc. next to impossible to find on your own and infinity more expensive to but individually. It’s amazing these kits are even out there.
Lucky the crank trigger wheel went on incorrectly in the orientation that retarded the timing rather than advanced it. I always either have a TDC mark cut into my triggers when they come from waterjetting, or i center punch a mark that lines up with the 0 line on the damper
Uhh. I was confused by that explanation, but a high speed bypass on mechanical injection leans out over a certain rpm/pressure, at a certain rate, because the efficiency of an engine starts to lay over relative to rpm, even though they continue to make more power. So, the bypass itself leans out the high speed fuel.
There is the old spring/plunger/canister style, the diaphragm style, and the “IRL” style, in order of accuracy and adjustability. As far as I’m aware these days.
Does the mechanical system have a fuel flow meter / pressure sensor in the system that talks to the EFI for tighter tuning? It seems that the mech system will have some variability over fuel quality / temperature / air humidity and such.
Every day is a good , some are better than others . You woke up today , didn't brake the mirror when you look at it . If the sun comes out , make it little better .
So is that typical numbers of that "spec" engine? Has anyone done a rip with a collector style header compared to the zoomies, or is that "spec" as well?
One of the problems is, there isn't enough make up air going into the dyno cell and this is going to affect engine performance / tuning. In one of the cells with the exhaust fans down low, you can see the shutters close at high engine RPM especially with high RPM / High HP engines.
Ya it does that I had a few gallons and this dude hanging out at our shop wanted to put it in his car like a Nissan Sentra or something it was old years ago it destroyed his whole car the exhaust caught fire the plugs where burnt and missing most of the tip it had no compression after that he junked it and the only thing he said was "wow it was running bad ass at first" I still laugh at that everytime I think about it thanks for reminding me
