These are not regular glasses. They are made from lead crystal. It's the lead in the crystal, some thing to do with the alignment of molecules, that make them ring like that.
i think it only works with wine glasses or glasses that have a thin long stem, i also think the way that sound is produced it because the volume of water has a different reaction when the vibrations from rubbing the brim of the glass reaches the water i may be wrong though

Truly awesome artist. Yes, its crystal. Yes, it makes noise when rubbed like that. Yes it is science. But, putting it all together, tuning, and knowing where all the notes are to be able to play such a complex piece in the way it is being played takes a lot of talent, good ear, and pure artistry. All together this makes a beautiful instrument and a fabulous artist. Anyone who has experienced a challenge in music will see that and understand. Anyone else, no explanation is possible.

When I was a little boy in Sunday youth church a couple of older ladies and their brother came and played on the crystal glasses some hymns. And it was absolutely the most beautiful music that i've ever heard including the harp which they later played.. And its still true.. music from heaven.

These are not regular glasses. They are made from lead crystal. It's the lead in the crystal, some thing to do with the alignment of molecules, that make them ring like that.

i think it only works with wine glasses or glasses that have a thin long stem, i also think the way that sound is produced it because the volume of water has a different reaction when the vibrations from rubbing the brim of the glass reaches the water i may be wrong though

Truly awesome artist. Yes, its crystal. Yes, it makes noise when rubbed like that. Yes it is science. But, putting it all together, tuning, and knowing where all the notes are to be able to play such a complex piece in the way it is being played takes a lot of talent, good ear, and pure artistry. All together this makes a beautiful instrument and a fabulous artist. Anyone who has experienced a challenge in music will see that and understand. Anyone else, no explanation is possible.

When I was a little boy in Sunday youth church a couple of older ladies and their brother came and played on the crystal glasses some hymns. And it was absolutely the most beautiful music that i've ever heard including the harp which they later played.. And its still true.. music from heaven.
