Thanks, hon. I’ve watched numerous video tutorials, but there’s something about how you did this, or the way you explained it, that the lightbulb in my brain switched on. Yay!
I am 16 years old and I found a passion for embroidery, and love learning. This was of great help to me I will look at more of your stitching videos.
Thank you for your help. I’m a beginner and your video was one of the easiest to learn from!

Beginning embroidery and I appreciate this video. Thank you for posting in 2011. Still useful 8 years later.
Thank You Ms. Wendi Gratz for having a site like this..... When my teacher teaches us what to do I cannot understand it but when I am watching your videos, I can make different stitches.
Thanks for the clear and concise directions. It's been a while since I did embroidery so I appreciate the refresher. Having fun, too!
Thank you so much Wendi ... it's so much easier and clearer when someone shows you than trying to follow diagrams in books. I get it now!
Thank you Wendy, I'm a beginner and your video is very helpful for me
wow, great video! I'm a novice sewer and embroiderer (sp?) and I'm making my 1 yr old daughter a Christmas stocking with one of those fun kits and this was one of the stitches...this helped me a lot!

Really interesting thank you, always easier if you actually see the stitches being done as opposed to diagrams.

Thank you- I have done quite a bit of cross-stitching but this is my first project that included chain-stitching. I was nervous about it and didn't quite understand the paper directions. This video was great and now I am excited to try!!!

it thought me alot about making chain stitch
Thanks for this, I'm making an embroidery item for a wedding present and this stitch seems simple and a really nice idea to put on it! Wish me luck!
You had the best instructions off all
This helped me so much for my sewing class in school! Thanks!
Excellent demonstration! Thanks.
I was on Pinterest and I saw a pin on chain stitching in order to create words on your work. And I thought that was cool that way your work gets to look really fancy. Although the site (after clicking on the link) does show step-by-step instructions with pictures I couldn't understand it. And it mentioned, "Fasten your yarn on the wrong side of the knitted piece." I know your video doesn't demonstrate that or maybe I missed it. But nonetheless I wanted to see how to chain stitch and I came upon your video which was great. Thank you for explaining so well and demonstrating a couple of times. And thank you for choosing a nice bright color. Sometimes when someone demonstrates using gray or black yarn I can't see were exactly the person is putting their tool in. So thank you.
We watch this in school a lot, who is watching in 2018? Also, I find that sound so satisfying when you pull the thread through idk why😂
Thanks for this- I've been asking my mum to teach me to do this for years!
I'm glad it was helpful. :-)
This was really helpful. Thank you!
Me gustan sus bordados, son fáciles y útiles mucho tiempo anduve buscando, gracias por compartirlos.

I'm so glad they've been helpful! :-)
I'm glad it was helpful. :-)
@iheartphoto Just starting out I'd recommend a solid-color woven cotton. Nothing stretchy or with any kind of texture to it. After you've gotten the hang of things, the sky's the limit! You can embroider on stretchy T-shirts, fancy velvets - just about anything!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you.
Your videos are such a help! Thank You x
Thanks you helped me with homework 😉
I'm glad it was helpful!
they are The end result looks like a tambour stitch but they are worked differently. As far as I know, tambour stitch uses a crochet hook, while this is a straight embroidery technique.
@abbyvanessa I recommend using either backstitch or couching for lettering. Both of them do well on tight curves (you just need to do smaller stitches with backstitching) and they're smooth and easy to read. I have videos for both of them - look in the embroidery playlist. Good luck! It sounds lovely!
Thank you so much, Ms. Wendi!
Thank you for showing these stitches!
thank you so much for this video. you are so very clear.
This really helped me a lot. :)
@abbyvanessa I recommend printing it out exactly as you want it to appear on the pillow, then trace it onto your fabric and embroider. Easy peasy!
thanks very helpful video. i will come back to you to learn more stitches
I have a project related to stitching and this video helped me a lot thank you sooooo much dear
@verdeirisado Just about anything will work. In this video I'm using your basic 6-strand DMC embroidery thread.
I understand it now thanks this video helped me alot

This was a very clear, concise and informative video. I found it very helpful without being overly repetitive or simplified. I've subscribed to your channel to get more helpful embroidery tips. Keep up the good work! :)
These videos are super helpful, I have a hard time learning things like this from a book, so it's really nice to be able to watch these videos! Thanks so much for making them :D
Thank you very much you helped me to do my project :)
Thanks so much! I'm glad it was helpful. :-)
I'd like to watch all your videos from beginning to end, keep me posted on how to find them Thanks!
😍❤😍❤ wow!!! Lovely work😍❤😍❤😍❤
I found your videos on youTube, but you don't have one on the feather stitch, which I find the most difficult of the 10 basic stitches, will you please one? You are a wonderful instructer, thanks for for all your videos, now I have so much to practice, thanks
Terima kasih atas tutorialnya Bu. Ini sangat membantu saya dalam mengerjakan tugas sekolah saya.
You teach really nice
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!
Thanks so much! :-)
i love your video's and they have really helped me thank you xxx i tend to get funny looks when i go and asked for my materials in our local habby shop becuase i am supposedly 'younger' than their usually cleintel and it really annoys me hahaha xxx
thank yoy for this video now im able to do the chain stitch on my project
Aaah, so this is how you do it. Thanks!
Thank you very much, I watched another 10 basic stitches and this one made it much easier. The one that I watched made it much more difficult, and she couldn't have been in a hoop. Regardless, this way is much more difficult to do. I subscribed to you, but I'm not quite sure what that means. How do I find more youtube videos of your work? Thanks, David
Hahahhaha XDD To find more youtube videos of her work, you need to subscribe but lol, you already did. Haha XD
Thank you for this video!!!
this video is very helpful :) thanks
Thanks so much! I'm glad they've been helpful. :-)
A very clarifying video. What type of thread is more apprpiate for this type of embroidery?. Thank you.
@BennettAshleigh You'll need to use a stabilizer on the back of the onesie since it's stretchy. There's a video for that at wendigratz(dot)blogspot(dot)com/2010/12/how-to-embroider-stretchy-fabrics(dot)html . After I'm done stitching I cut away most of the excess stabilizer and then toss it in the wash. I find that the brand I use (Sulky) softens up nicely and isn't at all itchy to wear. No need to add anything to the inside. :-)
This is just a piece of muslin. I usually stitch on any old woven cotton. I have a whole post on my blog about choosing fabric for embroidery. You can read it at wendigratz[dot]blogspot[dot]com/2012/01/ask-wendi-what-kind-of-fabric-can-i-use[dot]html
